Rodger Pettichord
Hi all. In the past, several Forum members have spoken of enjoying a cold one while they fly. My question is simple--what beverage best accompanies ORBX flights?
paddler
A glass of dry red wine from the region in which you are flying. If not immediately available - single malt.
olderndirt
"No smoking for 24 hours prior and no drinking within fifty feet" - the pilots' Hippocratic oath. However, since you ask, a nice bright crisp Chardonnay often get's me through some tough spots. For VFR lollygagging, cold Lager does the trick. JMBIII
A shot or two of tequila to get the motor primed, then switch tanks to a cold brew for the long haul !
Rodger Pettichord
JMB, after the tequila shots, can you still find the fuel switch?
Triplane
A double Jack Daniels on-the-rocks every hour or so greatly adds to the experience...............
Scott Harmes
Well I don't put any beverages anywhere near my PC, but during longer flights I will hand control over to my co-pilot and go make a cup of tea. Not much of a drinker these days. To add to the "realism", if I'm flying the Aerosoft A300 series or PMDG 737NGX I will wait until I'm asked if I want a drink or I will request one before going to make myself one . Triplane
Don't forget to take the cabin staff off your lap before you call for a cool one..............................................
flyingleaf
A good icy cold beer or two will get me into the air comfortably. Once safley up there my Air Maiden Hilda takes good care of me
Matthew Kane
I used to enjoy a beer while flight simming but I gave up alcohol because I have two young girls in the house now, so I just drink tea black hot
Mickel
cup'tea... There were times in the past where auto-land was required after too much red or single malt, and I never use auto-land. So I don't do that any more. Good thing I wasn't flying the Cub...
Guest
I'm with you Scott. Only difference is I continue my office habit of coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. John
Rodger Pettichord
You tea drinkers--my wife, who is a serious tea drinker, says she recommends Typhoo because the tea is good and the name sounds flight-weather related.
Aussie123
Long Black coffee for morning flights, T2 black Earl Grey for afternoon flights, and a nice Single Malt for evening flights. A soothing Camomile after putting the aircraft to bed.
Guest
We drink 'Miles', a local tea blender close to us. Best tea in the World. John
macca22au
Mostly a long coffee with frothed milk, and in the right restful circumstances a good Single Malt Scotch....like an Aberlour for instance!
larryisenor
I'll have to try the Aberlour, since I have a bottle in the cupboard. Perhaps on a scenic flight around the highlands. Larry

Rodger Pettichord
If you are an American tea drinker, I just found out that JohnY's local English Miles tea is now available in the US. My wife just ordered her first batch and is looking forward to her "Somerset Vacation."
flyingleaf
Ladies and Gents this is why I am not fond of Tea. After a good meal and when one is ready to climb into the virtual cockpit with a nice heated Cognac or single malt (not heated but no ice) there is nothing better than to start my C 47 Mule Team Gooney bird and to hear her "manly" snorting and farting Pratt and Whitney engines come to life (Speakers up to life volume). But right then my darling wife's voice (quite loud overcoming that lovely sound of my Pratt and Whitney's):" What is that ghastly noise my dear? Be a darling and turn it down so that I may enjoy my Tea". What gives guys? Please tell me. Cheers k
