COMOX (CYQQ) R/W MISALIGNMENT & ILS ERRORS

Recommended Posts

CYQQ main r/w (in PNW) appears misaligned by 3 deg.  Compass reads 300/120 Mag, should read 118/298 Mag - no weather and MAGVAR updated to 2018 data from Aero.sor.

R/W 12 centre-line/edge is in correct Lat Long comparing P3Dv3 (Shift Z) position, Google Earth position and Jeppesen Airfield Chart.

R/W 30 centre-line/edge is at 49-42.06 N and 124-52.38W in P3D/PNW.  However, in Google Earth and Jeppesen it is at 49-42.10 N (no great error) and 124-52.33W (GE figures converted to decimal Minutes).

Plotting that out gives a P3D/PNW a heading of 318 Deg T, or 301 Deg M (Varn 17 Deg E) which tallies with the observed P3D/PNW heading - but it should be 298 Deg M.

This also fits in with the RNav 12 appearing to be offset by 3 Deg when it is actually in-line.

Also, the ILS 12 touch-down point is at the far (southern) end of the R/W !

The Whidbey Island (KNUW) ILS 14 touch-down point is also at the far end.

Regards

Chris
