John Venema
Hello everyone, Here are a few more beta shots of KCGX Meigs Field for X-Plane 11, which has now been expanded to include the same large photoreal urban areas as the AFS2 version, complete with fully annotated buildings and vegetation and of course moving traffic as per XP11. There will be many more shots as beta testing continues. This will be a January release, and customers who have bought either the FSX/P3D or AFS2 versions will automatically get 40% off at checkout time. tangjuice81
Looks great JV. Also JV I know this is beta however, will the scenery still have the highways, signs, lights? I noticed there are the standard highways as in FSX/P3D.

hkterry
Thanks John for your ennouncement of 40% discount. It is really the best X-plane 11 scenery once this is released. It is also happy to know that Orbx is now entering the X-plane market.

freddielaker2
Its looking a lot better than the Microsoft versions, which I should think every one of us has taken off from and probably flown to O'Hare. I look forward to getting this for X-Plane and I'm really over the moon that ORBX are designing for Xplane. I cant wait to see that quality..... chifan90
Looks great visually. But in the images, as of now, there’s a few concerns. there are already existing freeware Chicago sceneries. All have great positives and drawbacks. None have everything tho. Will yours have the following: 1- Mac compatible day 1 ? 2- Lit textures both airport and city 3- Major sports venues ( I see Soldier Field) but what about United Center, Wrigley Field , and dare I say US Cellular Field 4- Non generic downtown buildings, some of them look like that. 5- Elevated Animated trains The” L” , Chicago is known for that. 6- You mentioned January release, is that a full final version or just betas still. Thanks
TigerTigerM
I have been watching X-P 11 for quite awhile & this will probably roll me into it. The 40% discount is appreciated. I must inquire about the nature of the background to the JV image. Is it shrubbery, a small dog, or a Cheerleaders Pom Pom? TTM
kaboki
Hope when you guys take into consideration that many of us using xplane have custom made ortho tiles, so i hope you can realease scenery in full tiles, so i can bound my own tiles seamlessly at the borders,,,? Also making your airport compitable with 3party AI addons would be nice. Anyway looking great, im all in.

Woogey
Woooooo Yeahhhhh! Finally, Thank you John. Please keep up that Photoreal theme! I Have all of California in High res PR coverage already, However It would look spectacular if I was to get ORBX Airports, Objects and AUTOgen Planted in real world locations on top of my super high clarity Ortho Photo's. With Chicago as a first, this could be an opportunity for ORBX to expand it's Skyline City scenery Series to give subjects a little more of the Authentic Character we expect to discover when arriving at a new destination to our sim. X-Plane has come a long way on it's journey to the top, but the Default Skylines are still lacking a bit. -Woog

brett2634
Can’t wait for this! I’m one of the many that made the switch to XP11 from FSX/P3D. The only reason P3D is still on my PC is because of ORBX. I can’t wait for PNW and other NA regions and airports. Also, thank you for the discount for P3D owners! Awesome company and scenery. Thanks again.

I second this question and ask Orbx to consider including just a few of the waterway POI bridges in this next iteration of Meigs. I enjoy the AFS2 version and find it great, but would like to see a few bridges included in this roll-out and passed along to all release versions as feasible - there are a few conspicuous spots, such as entering downtown from the south, where I think it would add much to the vibe of the city. The waterways are certainly an important aspect of the history of the area; a little splash of Orbx magic to bring them out would, in my opinion, add much to overall experience. Hi Guys. I'll answer what I can or know: 1 - The scenery does indeed work on Mac OS X (I develop on Mac OS X), but the details of how/when it will be released for those users have yet to be decided. 2 - Yes, there are night time textures and lighting 3 - The actual airport and central business district buildings are the same as in the current P3D version (so whichever landmarks are in there are in this beta as well), 4 - It's not possible to model every single building with the exact correct texture as the airport would never get released. 5 - There are roads and rail networks, and all have as per X-Plane, moving cars and traffic. The "L" train is there as well 6 - The above shots are an internal beta to highlight the increased autogen and ortho area being added. They are not from the final version of the airport and there will be more previews soon

John Venema
The Mac release depends on the installer and FTX Central integration. We may run with an interim dmg package installer so we don't alienate Mac users.

Yes still around - just spending most of it flying rather than on the forums - well that and the daily commute from Macclesfield to London and back! So very pleased that ORBX are coming on board. I just hope the community supports it. Museumkeeper
With nine comments on this thread am I right in thinking that you eagerly await this release. I have bought many Orbx titles for FSX and P3D over the past few years and would take this opportunity to reassure you that even though Orbx are now producing for many more flightsims, the mindset of the developers is that even though they may take their time, they will not release a product until it is ready. Please have patience, you will not regret the wait.
