My first turboprop.

VH-KDK

Recommended Posts

On Saturday July 19th 1975 I flew in my first turboprop aircraft.

It was G-AXVG an HS.748 belonging to Dan Air.

Justflight have just released their rendition of the 748 and one of the liveries depicts G-AXVG but in Skyways colours.

I cannot resist adding to my hangar of British airliners.

Lining up on RWY 26.

Flying past the old BAC works, the runway has been extended since 1975.

Over Moordown and Castle Lane West.

5.hs5.jpg

The Isle of Purbeck and Swanage.

6.hs6.jpg

The Isle of Wight and the Solent.

Next job is to find out how everything in the cockpit works.

The nicely packaged Rolls Royce Dart which sounds first class. Well done JF for getting some decent sound packs for your latest aircraft.

And so on to Guernsey, my flight was from Bournemouth to Guernsey  with similar summer weather on that day.

What a blast of nostalgia flying in this plane after all those years.

Doing good this week end. Not only the 748 but The Beatles box set too. Got some "Magical" music to listen too tomorrow when "Flying!"

Lovely set of pix, Martyn.

I probably won't be rushing out for the 748 myself, but you may have inspired me to play Strawberry Fields very loudly sometime today.

Thanks Andy, going through the set from start to finish, got as far as Rubber Soul. Revolver next.

It is just fantastic to hear these songs again and in such amazing quality. I only have a few in vinyl so I have not heard many of these songs for years.

Thank you for these nice shots - but also for your amazing memory! It is ony a few occasions I would remember the registration of a plane I was flying in.

Cheers Gerold.

I have every flight recorded but have let it lapse over the last few years.

Apart from 3 early flights I know all the planes I have flown on, interesting to see the fates of these planes too, this one ended up in Canada before being broken up in 1995!

A-OK bunch of shots! Nice short field takeoff using all of the available runway and then stunning views of the English scenery.

Thanks Erik.

Cheers RJ, nice to hear you have flown on one too.

Wonderful shots...and many thanks for posting these.  I have been eyeing this plane while it is development stage.  I was hoping to see some shots of it here on the forum.  Looks like it will be in my "to buy" list.

Cheers PDX, been watching it too in anticipation.

Many thanks to you all for your comments and your interest.

Another great set Martyn!  And I love the Beatle's Flying!  Love all the Beatles actually, great music or flying the sim.  Nice plane too, a British friend raves over it.

Cheers Jack, you have obviously got great tastes in aircraft and music.
