Down the Rhur part one.

I have done several river trips, the last one being the Mississippi which was highly enjoyable.

Having done the Rhine last year I decided that the Ruhr needed exploration.

1.rt1.jpg

Wikipedia for once was a little vague as to the exact source of the Ruhr but with a bit of searching on Google Earth I finally found it near Gronebach by the side of the L740 road.

2.rt2.jpg

After a quick change from the Paramotor to the R22 on the side of the road we continue heading north approaching Olsberg.

3.rt3.jpg

Now heading west at Nuttlar

4.rt4.jpg

The Ruhr is finally depicted here at Bestwig.

5.rt5.jpg

Now at EDKM Meschede Schuren for an overnight stop and a change of planes.

6.rt6.jpg

A bit of a cloudy morning as we leave in the Microleave.

7.rt7.jpg

The intersection of the A46 and L743 roads between Wennemen and Freienohl.

8.rt8.jpg

Approaching Arnsberg.

9.rt9.jpg

Still following the A46 at Neheim.

10.rt10.jpg

About to land at EDLA Arnsberg Menden for a rest and a change of horses.

To be continued.....

I must admit I have never seen the Ruhr in my life before this post.

Martyn, we will make you our honourable German in this forum, as no one decribes his flights in GEN better than you. I hope the rest of the German gang here approves ;)

Indeed, we should nominate Martyn for an honour. Approved by me.

Thanks for a real wonderful tour Martyn!  I loved every one of them.  There's some serious detail in GEN, may be forced to buy it yet.

Thanks Jack and it is well worth having.

Wow, Nummer Eins Bilder!

This set is my favorite of the three, I think because of the morning (or evening) light. Neatly captrured by your wingman and yourself!

Thank you Erik.

Wow! lovely set of pix, Martyn. And inspirational - I haven't explored this region much yet but this is making me want to. Must rush now to look at the others in the series!

Cheers Andy. Get out there and get exploring.

Thank you for your great comments and glad you enjoyed the trip.

+1   and Gerold, I live much closer to it than you do :)

That is amazing, I thought it would be too big to miss.

I am very humbled by your kind offer Gents, which I will gladly accept.:)

Many thanks everybody for your messages.
