Down and dusted.

The second part of my maiden flight in the Meteor following :-

1.ml1.jpg

A quick search on the GPS to find the nearest airport with a substantial length of runway. Bit blurry scenery though.

2.ml2.jpg

Flying mostly GA I forgot that I can really throw the Meteor around.

3.ml3.jpg

On approach to EDDG Munster/Osnabruke, over 1 mile of runway should be long enough.

4.ml4.jpg

Too low, have to increase power.

5.ml5.jpg

Sadly not wide enough, lost sight of the runway and ended up on the grass. A bong is always good after a hairy landing.

6.ml6.jpg

Down in one piece and will have to practice landings a lot more.

That was highly enjoyable.

Will have another go later this morning and as the missus is out shall be able to crank up the volume

I understand you need to fly "down under", even here in our friendly skies of GEN... :P!

Thanks Gerold, sorry but that one has gone clear over my head.

I really enjoyed these shots.  I am very tempted with this plane.

She is a great plane in the right hands PDX. Mine are a little shaky at the moment.

Hey, Martyn, next time you make a stop-over at my hometown airport Münster-Osnabrück, do let me know in advance, so I can fetch you and we have a few cold ones together. After that, landings will be so much easier :)

Thanks for the offer Bernd, I may take you up on that one day.

As an eight year old watching through the fence at RAF Turnhouse, I was amazed by these whistling monsters with no propellers.

Just love to hear peoples memories. Saw many of them in the mid 60s flying into Hurn to Airwork I presume.

The landings may need practice but the pictures were spot on! :D

Thank you, a lot of practice is required.

I didn't see you landing on the grass!  Great shots Martyn.  It must still be easier to land than that darned GeeBee!  :D

I thought I had better own up Jack, maybe someone was watching.

Great shots and fun learning the new plane I'm sure!

Cheers Steve. Not a bad plane to fly but plenty of learning required.
