If you want to understand him and the way he tried to rule his country, you should read the excellent book by Paul M. Handley: " The King never smiles". Btw that book was never sold inside of Thailand, because people believed that the king is sacred and that there shouldn't be any book about him. Cheers Bernd, yes you have to watch your ps and qs when you are over there and not say anything derogatory about the Royals.
