NOOOO,  not that Norton Sound although is does sound how a motor bike should.

No. THIS Norton Sound, in Alaska.

Just visiting another of the wonderful Global Freeware airports, this time it is PAKK, Koyuk.

Starting up the magnificent CL-215.

2.ns2.jpg

PAKK sits at the head of Norton Inlet.

3.ns3.jpg

Norton Sound is an inlet of the Bering Sea.

4.ns4.jpg

James Cook discovered the area in 1778 and named it after the then Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Fletcher Norton.

5.ns5.jpg

The Yukon River flows into the southern part of Norton Bay.

6.ns6.jpg

With the Skysong A-26 Invader sound set my CL-215 sounds how an aeroplane should.

7.ns7.jpg

The Sound is free of ice from June to October, Norton Sound that is and not the engines.

Hope you enjoyed looking and once again thanks to Bermuda for making me aware I can now use the CL-215 in P3D also to Adam for his glass fix so I can now see where I am going.

Absolutely breathtaking sequence of shotz mate! Now I know where the plane had gone after I left her in Fort MacKay

I enjoy these shots particularly, because touring Canada's northwest there's few time for a visit to Alaska, so it's great of you to take over the part ^_^

Great ones Martyn!

Caught salmon at Unalakleet, Moses Point and had several drinks in Nome.

Thank you Oldendirt.

I like it when people have been to a location and you hear about their visit.

Aaaah! The "Norton sound"! Reminds me of a friend of mine who had one and said the engine "fires once every lamp-post"!

Adam.

Thanks Adam, a great description of the old type of bikes. What a shock it was when the first Japanese ones appeared.

Thank you Erik. You should not have left it on the tarmac with the keys in the ignition:o

No need to worry though as I will take good care of it.

So many Global freeware airports to visit and some glorious scenery in between.

Lovely stuff, Martyn. Looks like a fun place (but I was always more of a Triumph man, myself)

Cheers Andy. The old bikes are just like the old radial engine planes. Long gone but not forgotten, a great era in some ways.

Thanks so much for your great comments, I appreciate them as always.
