Took the Texan (what else)  for a ride in Germany and soon found the rego very appropriate.

1.of1.jpg

A bit rough on start up but all seems ok.

2.of2.jpg

Departing EDBJ.

3.of3.jpg

Over Hermsdorf

4.of4.jpg

Oh......, just noticed the manifold pressure is dropping.

5.of5.jpg

Better not tell the passenger there are problems.

6.of6.jpg

Despite making a few adjustments the pressure continues to drop so with no airport in sight time to select some open ground for an emergency landing.

7.of7.jpg

Using the replay mode the plane remains in the state it was when landing. In flight the engine was still running and the gear was up.

8.of8.jpg

A suitable area to land has been spotted .

9.of9.jpg

Still high and fast but will try and get down in one piece.

10.of10.jpg

Luckily the ground slopes upwards which will slow us down.

11.of11.jpg

Just missed some bushes and come to a stop safely.

Now where is that manual, time to insult it.

Great shots of my country, topped up with a fascinating narration! I thought you´ll use the Autobahn for landing...

Thanks Gerold. I would have used the Autobahn but I had no money left to pay the toll as I spent it all on the Texan.

Great shots Martyn. I prefer aircraft that don't give up on me.    :-)

That is the problem with these complex aircraft, you get failures if you don't do it right and I obviously did summant wrong!

Great shots!

Did you work out what the problem was? Overheating, over-leaning - or did you just forget to switch tanks? LOL!

Adam.

Thanks Adam. Not sure Adam but it is running  without problems this morning.

Nice shots! Did you find out why the motor quite?

Thank you Corndog. No but it seems to have fixed itself overnight as it is going like a goodun this morning.

Many thanks for your great responses which I appreciate.

Glad you enjoyed the shots.

Martyn, don´t worry: German Autobahns are toll free for everything what is not a truck. But beware of the Porsches, they might be faster than your Texan.

Nice pix Martyn.

I just noticed the reg # of this beast - surprised the developer managed to slip that past their marketing people. Can't get used to thinking of this as a "Texan", it was "Harvard" over here in my small boy Airfix days.

Cheers, Andy

Thanks Gerold, I will look in my mirror as I don't want to be rear ended by a Porsche!:o

A strikingly adventurous simulator session!

It was very different from what I expected Bermuda. Did the same a while back with the A2A Cherokee. It didn't  help not having enough fuel in the tanks in that case.:P

I was surprised too Andy and like you I knew this plane as the Harvard but I did not see one until I came to Oz in 81 which is again a surprise!

Don't break Heidi - your landing area choice looked remarkably like a runway, all it lacked was a centerline.

Cheers Oldendirt. I will take good care of her, something similar to that that would make a good slogan for an airline:lol:.

What is a centreline?
