Kasi31
On July 14 1865, Edward Whymper and six other climbers reached the summit of Matterhorn for the first time. As a tribute to this first ascent, i took an Air Zermatt helicopter for a short flight around Matterhorn from Zermatt. On this date, we should also think of the more than 500 climbers, that were killed on Matterhorn since the first ascent 150 years ago, which makes the Matterhorn the most dangerous peak in Switzerland. For more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matterhorn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_climbing_the_Matterhorn http://www.air-zermatt.ch/wordpress/en/ Enjoy and thanks for looking! Stillwater
Thanks for the story, Kasi. 2 questions...: - is the beautiful helipad included in FTXG / Vector / LC? - did you use Frank Dainese´s alps 3D scenery?
Kasi31
Thanks for the story, Kasi. 2 questions...: - is the beautiful helipad included in FTXG / Vector / LC? - did you use Frank Dainese´s alps 3D scenery? The answer to your two questions is: No. The helipad is my own creation and fictional. I've tried Frank Dainese's alps scenery. It's really great but i'm not really a fan of these "photographic wallpapers".

Sorry but my Matterhorn, is not a wallpaper but a real 3D model, reconstructed with DEM detailed, real textures ... 3 months of work.
Kasi31
Sorry but my Matterhorn, is not a wallpaper but a real 3D model, reconstructed with DEM detailed, real textures ... 3 months of work. Hello Frank, I don't want to offend you or disrespect your work. It's really great. When I wrote photographic wallpaper, I meant the whole area of Valais and Aosta Valley, not only the Matterhorn. I love how ORBX handles famous landmarks. Just a small photorealistic area and not a whole region. Is it possible to use your 3D Matterhorn as a standalone version? Then I will give it a try. 😊

Guest
Thank for sharing Karsten. Flying around that place is always stunning. By the way, Frank's 3D Matterhorn fits well with a non photoreal environment. Here's how the famous peak looks like into FTX Global (Base+Vector+OpenLcEu) Another example with Eiger from the same scenery:
Frank Dainese
For full disclosure - Matterhorn 3D, Italian side PS: with FTX Global (Base+Vector+OpenLcEu) There are still problems of overlap.
olderndirt
It's just unfortunate that Frank's work makes the rest so average. No offense to LC EU - it's doing the job but.......
dolf8857
Great set of shots here, would love to give a try Frank's stunning works into LC EU, is there a special way of install?
