  1. I had issues with sunken runways at Whenuapai (NZWP). I was looking for an alternative airport to NZAA that had ILS available and Whenuapai suited well except that the height issues made it unusable. I had all sorts of "stuff" installed with FSX but with my Prepar3D installation, stuck with ORBX vector scenery worldwide including most of my airports. The only non- ORBX airport scenery I have installed is for Wellington, Christchurch, Nelson & Dunedin. Certainly noting in the Auckland area. In trying to find a solution for my NZWP issues (I had already run the FTX Central Vector utility without success), I checked the forums and found an entry in the FSX Support forums as below. The directory structures in Lockheed Prepar3d are similar to FSX so I was able to go to Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\ORBX\FTX_NZ\FTX_NZNI_05_SCENERY\scenery to ensure that the 4 files mentioned in the post were there - and they were. I then checked Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Scenery\World\scenery and found NZWP_ADEX_VLC_ALT.bgl which I renamed NZWP_ADEX_VLC_ALT.old. This solved my problem. I have posted this in the hope that it helps another forum user.
  2. hi there guys, so ive been having some issues with FTX as of late. Actually, i purchased Global Base and Vectors a while back. but was never that impressed with it. i ended up setting up 18 save for screenshots and took them after installing each addon. from default to global base the difference is visible. then after that i didnt really see much of anything happen. now, i had tried free textures and vectors in the past so though maybe a fresh install of FSX:SE would help. well.. that was a mistake. its taken me 2 days and countless GB's to get it re-installed. but now im up to adding the FTX Global Vectors. and it has an issue installing, i start installing and makes it up to 10%, downloads 38mb and then changes to extracting, it then appears to crash FTX Central. (i say appears because ftx central seems to still respond ok for a while then its hangs.) once ftx central hangs my computer tends to stop responding and requires a resetting. I have tried going into settings and "clear temp" and still havent seen any change. I have deleted the %appdata%/Local/Orbx folder and reinstalled FTX central. aswell. with no joy. I notice it seemed to have issue when in came to extracting. so i was wondering what ftx extracts its files with. any help would be great! :: Update :: i decided to try installing other stuff just now, ive opened up my temp folder to see if i could see if the same behaviour happened with Global NA Airport Pack. and it appears to do a very similar thing, where it starts extracting and fills the folder with 2300(ish) zip files. it then slowly increases 1 file, then down 3. this was the exact behaviour i saw when installing vectors. however NA Airport Pack seemed to complete its install ok.
  3. I really enjoy Vector since the installation some days ago but I have something strange since this installation. Waves of the sea on coast looks vertical, like a Jeyser, which is not really realistic. Do you know how can I remidiate this issue corrupting a little the pleasure of this purchase?? THanks in advance for youyr help, Pascal
  4. The Helldiver is the plane of the moment......at the moment. I am very surprised though that Jack has not brought it. So I thought I would do this flight to try and convince him. with eleven good reasons 1. One- it is yellow. Waiting for landing traffic at Binghampton International NY State. 2. Two- it is yellow. Not far from the airport is Chenango Bridge. Under the port wing is Sunset Way where I stayed in 1958 for 6 weeks. I was so happy to find the house on GE street view several years ago, bringing back some happy memories. 3. Three-it is yellow. Looking back down the Chenango River at Port Dickinson and Binghampton. I can clearly remember fishing in the river an being told not to stand in the boat! Apparently the river is now polluted and the "new" freeway follows the river. 4. Four-it is yellow. Over Harpursville looking down the Susquehanna River towards Windsor. 5. Five-it is yellow. The Senator Warren M Anderson Expressway and the Susquehanna again at Nineva. 6. Six-it is yellow. Near Cobleskill and Mineral Springs decided to try out the air brakes. They do work, exciting stuff. 7. Seven-it is yellow. A spectacular road network approaching Albany. 8. Eight-it is yellow. Over Rotterdam and were heading for Schenectady Airport but elevation problems have lead us to divert to Albany International. 9. Nine- it is yellow. Over the Hudson River at Goat Island. The airport is central left. 10. Ten it is yellow. Just about to land at Verdoy. I have been to Albany but one of those many parts of the holiday I cannot remember. 11. Eleven-it is a magnificent radial carrier bomber from WW2(actually in RL it was cr*p). Top class sound set, the start up is brilliant. Plenty of detail in the cockpit, bomb bay, gunner/radio operator position Uncle Tom Cobbley and all. Buy it now from AH and you get the F3F thrown in. Most of all Jack because being a Navy plane most of the liveries are blue which is my favourite colour and I love blue aeroplanes! Just one final thing to remember, this is OLC NA, bloody fantastic isn't it.
  5. U-Tapao is a Thai Navy air base in the Rayong district about 130 miles south of Bangkok. I have only travelled past here the once to this very industrialised part of Thailand. This flight takes us in the other direction towards the tourist town of Pattaya and then returning to VTBU 1. A big thanks are in order for Jankees for this wonderful RTAF Helldiver, taxying out with the Thai Airways maintenance complex in the background. p.1 Grumman Albatross gate guardian at U-Tapao 2. Ao Kong Kang at Sattahip, where the Thai Navy has a dockyard. The Thai Navy sports stadium at Sattahip. 3. Over Sattahip with the bay in the background. The major road is Route 3 Sukhumvit Road. p1. One of the many tower blocks that were springing up along the coast near Pattaya. 4. Now at Pattaya's Jontiem Beach. 5. Approaching VTBU at Sam Nak Thon. 6. Landing at U-Tapao over Route 3 again. p4 Some of the hangars seen from the main road, very little of the airport was visible. Thanks again to Jankees for your repaints this repaint especially, you have made my day. Just threw in a few snaps of the area I took in 2011(was it really that long ago!). Not very good as they were taken from the bus on a wet humid day and the windows were also poorly tinted which did not help.
  6. I have been getting more and more dreadful ground textures in that they are getting more blurry and to say i have the following installed and using ftx central v3 i am deeply saddned by the lack of quality, can some one help in a dummy guide to help me get it to how it should be please? I have FTX Global, Global vectors, LC Europe, Trees and England. i have settings reasonably high as my rig is not too bad: I7-4790k 16GB RAM GTX980TI The two low level pics are departing EGCC rwy 23R and the other id overhead the CLN VOR. I am baffled with what im doing wrong. Can someone please help i feel as though i am wasting my money for some reason when other people have it looking so good. Many thanks Neil
  7. Time for another flight from LOWI, flying east along the Inn Valley to do some exploring. 1. Getting the old bus ready for the flight. 2. The view from the tower with take off imminent. 3. Following the Inntal Autobahn at Polling in Tyrol. 4. Just passed Telfs and Reitz in sight. 5. After hugging the valley it is time to climb and look for a destination, yes it is one of my typical flights. 6. Not in Texas but just gone past Dalaas. 7. Approaching Bludenz on the Ill River a tributary of the Rhine. 8. Now heading south going over the mountains to the next valley looking at Bludenz from the south. 9. Passing over the peak of Schesalpana on the Austrian Swiss border. It is the highest peak on the Ratiikon Range. 10. Now at Untervaz in Switzerland. 11. Coming into LSZE Bad Ragaz. 12. Bad Ragaz is a popular Spa tourist destination. The airport has a short runway which is why I just cleared the fence. 13. A great landing for me. 14. Ok I had to cheat as the runway was far too short for my plane but no harm done and it will be good to fly for another day. Now off to the Hotel Quellenhoff for nice soak in the spa with some one special, please don't tell her indoors though Nice to dream isn't it.
  8. The C-46 Commando was well suited for flying over the Himalayas from India to China in WW2 which was known as The Hump. Some of the terrain was over 16000ft. This short flight is not as strenuous for either the plane or the crews. It is in the Alps and the C-46 can safely fly along at 10000ft. 1. Departing LOWI. 2. Climbing along the Inn Valley with the Wetterstein Mountains in the distance. 3. Turning north with the town of Telfs just below. 4. Seefeld in Tyrol with the Karwendel Range behind. 5. Avoiding Gehrenspitze one of the Tannheim Group of mountains. 6. More of the Wetterstein Mountains and still climbing. 7. Looking back to Mittenwald. 8. Nearly out of the Alps and flying by Walchensee. 9. 10. The Starnberger See 11. Coming into land at Lechfeld AFB. 12. Looks good but about the worst landing I have made for ages.
  9. Hi. I own FTX Global Base, Vector and OpenLC Europe. In FTX Central, FTX Global Vector tab says that an "Update Available". I've done the update many times, but it still is there. No errors but the update notification. How can I solve this? Thank you so much.
  10. Hello guys. I was flying today near Valencia and Ibiza in Spain when I saw this: - http://gyazo.com/b54f5ac10ff2e02ae24a82eeb830be19 - http://gyazo.com/d4cf0681fa38fd8abf4422986e4b124b Can someone help me? I know if this happen in a airport all I have to do is modify the altitude correction via the ftx vector configurator, but as is in the water I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance =)
