  1. Here we have 34°C today. So I went virtually out to Yakutat, which looks a bit cooler on this summer day. Good that there is no Fly-and-MosquitoFlow over Alsek River. And the glacier with the same name looks like a welcomed refreshment. Directly afterwards we cross Grand Pacific Glacier. The peak to our right is Mt. Fairweather. Indeed, it looks fair here. Descending over Takhin Glacier... ... and over Haines... ... into the Skagway channel... ... and into the namegiving village.
  2. Some flight enthusaists had hired a vintage plane in Valdez for a scenic flight. And the views would not disappoint them. Already at takeoff towards the city, ... ... or whilst turning south to the oil terminal. No hikers around Allison Lake? So we better look back at Valdez, the airport and the hills behind. Following Richardson highway at Robe Lake, ... ... with a view back to Valdez Bay. Just a great piece of work by the Orbx team. I wonder if this field is covered with snow in colder seasons? However, the flight went on eastwards over Copper river, ... .... Bering glacier, ... ... and Icy bay. Well, with limited visibility here and not so scenic. The cloud layer went down to approx. 250 ft AGL. Where the treetops nearly clean up the belly of the DC-3. Nothing you would like in a real flight. But in the sim one can easily approach Yakutat... ... and find a good place to park.
  3. PAJN - PAYA in the QW 757 at dawn. Climing out of PAJN on the Asort Two departure. Turning Final on the ILS 11 at PAYA Short Final All ready to unload and all in time to watch the sunrise.
  4. Folks As 'promised', the haul from Yakutat to Gutierrez. Soon ended up IMC all the way to Biorka Island VOR. This plane is awesome. And the dollar/hour return is better than anything else in the hangar.
  5. After arriving in Juneau for a bite while others handled the cargo, I departed for Yakutat. Carlos and his Sovereign was gone by the time I got there... Straight Vs, other than the cropped last.
  6. A true Alaska Airlines service from Yakutat... ... taking off the summer runway southwards over the Pacific... ... and turning 180° to the right in order to head north. Climbing, climbing, climbing, across Hubbard Glacier... ... into beautiful Summer weather. Not easy to get this plane up to 12500 ft. Which were needed to come across to Kaskawulsh Glacier, Canada. Descending and relaxing the pressure on the engines, towards Burwash Lake... ... and Haines Junction. Over the plains... ... to Whitehorse. Drop off some tourists here for the train ride down to Skagway - and ready to get another bunch for our next flight...!
  7. Yakutat was one of the sceneries I bought in the last year, but did not have the chance to explore yet. This would have been a good one for a "Where am I" post, wouldn´t it? OK mates, that´s not real fishing on these boats. Come with me to the wilderness! There should be good locations for fly-fishing. Situk comes as a bonus airfield with PAYA... ... and would have been another good option for a "where am I". A great impression to fly low over these northern plains. Back on Yakutat airport, ready to proceed...
  8. I cannot translate the German wisdom of freight pilots into english, maybe google can help you?! I just had to reach colder climate for some days. So I agreed to the request of FedEx to bring some huge fishing equipment northwards from Vancouver. We met at the FedEx station, ... ... and prepared for the flight whilst the freight was stowed. The unusual (short) runway 30 was selected by ATC. I was slightly panicking and apllied full power, but all went well and lead us directly north... ... across Nanaimo, ... ... Pender Harbour... ... and Powell River. The inside passage east of Vancouver Island, after reaching the first regular flight level. Prince Rupert in the lower left corner of the picture. That means the channels towards Terrace and Kitimat are behind us. Annette Island and Ketchikan ahead, ... ... with the first directly below. The Tongass Fjords area. Works well in P3D, but needs a decent manual installation, brilliantly summarized by Elaine Dixon. Coming to refreshing glacierlands, with the Saywer glacier to our right. Hoonah. The Grand Pacific Glacier. Looking grand indeed. Here we descend into our destination Yakutat, ... ... have a little look at the entire scenery, ... ... and follow the lovely YAK3 approach. Lined up. Ready for final. Finished work for today. No cheering of paxes, but also no claims. And refreshing cold air... We directly head for some beer, now that @flyingleaf Karls fishermen have left the city:
  9. Hi guys, I just purchased PAYA which completes my SAK airport collection. It of course looks fantastic, and I'm very satisfied with my purchase! I do have what may be a small issue...the runway edge and end lights have a square glow around them. This is in P3D v3.4. My search did yield a similar result, but for a different airport. Any help is appreciated, and thanks again. I should of zoomed in more on the screenshot, sorry. Thanks, Randy

  11. Time to try the 727-200 from Captain Sim. Very impressed with the amount of animation in their 777 and the 727 did not disappoint. First on the ground at Yakutat and then a test flight heading east. Just remember it is rude to stair. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

  14. Treated myself to the Aircraft Factory P-51H and took it for a spin from PAGS to PAYA. Beautiful plane to fly and managed to get it down in one piece. 1.

After seeing Karstens beautiful screenies with the DC-10 but seeing in a review that the aircraft was prone to the dreaded OOM I decided to give it a go. 2 attempts to take off from PANC both resulted in an OOM after about 500m along the runway. Over to PAYA and some luck, but too busy taking shots and marvelling at the exterior of this fine plane in flight and a window came up stating "overstressed." End of flight. So over to Valdez to try the cargo version. Now the cockpit is black apart from the instruments. Try a different freight version and the texture is a nice shiny metal. Now I am overstressed. 1. 2. 3. 4. Beautiful inside and out with some great sounds too Yet again something has been release with a serious floor in it.   18. Never liked red that much which is why the NLM F-27 is flying from Yakutat and not the red Northwest variant. Already planned my week ends flying, but with the ORBX sales on that has all changed. Now that I have brought the Friendship I will start filling in the gaps of P3D airports. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. The F-27 has now morphed into a KC-97, wanted to check out the new livery I had installed and also like the radial sound just a bit more than the screaming Darts. The red I like the best is on the Saints and Cherries shirts. The Blues will be happy in SW6 this week end.
