  1. True Earth Northern California is great except many small airports have runways added where they are now. Example: a big fancy runway next to the real one on a crop duster airport. In some cases a mountain runway has trees growing in the middle of the runway, which you can go right through. I like to fly back country small airports and a lot of them are wrong. I'm not sure if I installed something wrong or if Xplane default runways are showing up also. A request for support with a product that does not work should be placed into the X Plane 11 Support forum.
  2. Please submit a fix for the San Francisco & Oakland Bay Bridges. They are horrible. Mister X has a great Bay Bridge model, maybe you can borrow it from him? But really, this is below Orbx standards. Even Minecraft renders a better Bay Bridge.
  3. Hi. I have tried 5 times to install the Califonia scenery on my computer, but unfortunately the installation is half done each time. Please let me know how I can solve this problem. I enclose the photo of my screen on which the installation hangs. Sincerely yours. Farhad
  4. Our most ambitious project to date sees us take the next step in bringing more of the X-Plane world to life with our TrueEarth range of products. TrueEarth US Northern California is the result of years of research and development as well as countless hours of crafting together one of the most stunning and diverse regions in North America. Take off from across the sprawling region and explore to your heart’s content with over 212,000 square kilometers of orthoimagery and accurately placed autogen. The wide-range of landscapes, detailed mountains and stunning coastlines will redefine how you travel across the state in X-Plane 11. Special care and attention has been given to color correction, editing and balancing the orthoimagery to ensure the highest fidelity and quality. Using the latest technology, millions of trees have been accurately placed throughout the entire region and grouped together to create an immersive environment if you enjoy flying close to the ground. The vegetation has been hand-coloured to ensure it blends in perfectly with the ground textures. Northern California prides itself on its varied landscape, giving you plenty of choice for places to explore. Yosemite National Park, famous for its stunning valleys and flower-covered meadows, find life in X-Plane thanks to the TrueEarth technology. If the wilderness isn’t your thing, then take a trip up the Northern California coast and catch the west-coast sunshine as the light bounces off of your aircraft. The sights you will see will be truly breathtaking. Set yourself the challenge of finding everything there is to see in Northern California. With nearly 1,000 points of interest to seek out, flying in a GA aircraft has never been so rewarding once you find them all. Seek out Alcatraz Island, Google's headquarters, the Apple "Spaceship" HQ, the massive blimp hangars near San Jose or seek out the many Sonoma County Vineyards. Just a small sample of the POI models for the San Francisco tile alone! (Click to expand image to view in 4K) The most exciting element of North California is the variety of topography throughout the region, meaning you could spend days exploring and still find uniqueness throughout. The rugged coastlines up by Big Sur and Shelter Cove make for excellent expeditions, whilst seeing the peaks of Mt Shasta and the Sierra Nevada is simply breathtaking. Perhaps you want a more urban experience? The beautiful cityscape of San Francisco has been fully modeled with the latest PBR techniques for a detailed rendition of the City by the Bay. Take the challenge of flying under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco or fly right over Silicon Valley in San Jose. Whatever your preference, TrueEarth US NorCal for X-Plane 11 will have something for you. And if you're a PilotEdge user, enjoy the skies above NorCal with full real-time ATC with actual human controllers! TrueEarth US Northern California HD vs SD Exactly as we have done with TrueEarth US Washington and TrueEarth US Oregon, Northern California will be available in two versions - high definition (HD) 212GB and standard definition (SD) 53GB. The only difference between these two products is the ground texture resolution. If disk space is a concern, check out the SD version of TrueEarth US NorCal, which provides the same regional coverage, but at just a a quarter of the disk space. The slightly reduced texture resolution still provides incredible detail but enables smoother performance for those with older graphics cards. If you prefer the full fidelity, we recommend the HD version for best resolution. FEATURES 212,000 km2 of hand-corrected/cleaned aerial imagery in 1m/px resolution (HD version) or 2m/px resolution (SD version) Millions of individual autogen trees/shrubs, grouped by type and hand-corrected for maximum realism across the entire region Explore and soar over the stunning San Francisco Cityscape crafted with full PBR effects Nearly 1,000 custom PBR POIs placed around the state; including San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, Silicon Valley and many, many more. All major cities accurately modeled, including SFO, Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, Monterey, Fresno, Redding and many others. Millions of themed and efficient PBR autogen buildings placed to match the aerial imagery across the entire region Ultra detailed elevation mesh sourced from 10m DEM to bring out great detail in the coastline and mountains Beautiful hand-cleaned water-masking, which blends in beautifully Many marinas have hand-placed 3D boats added Blends in seamlessly with TrueEarth US Oregon and the upcoming TrueEarth US Southern California (in development) to provide even more US coverage COVERAGE MAP Stay tuned for more previews over the coming week! Note: screenshots are taken from both HD and SD versions.
  5. I bought Northern California, and followed the instruction to install orbx central. When I run Xplane 11 and fly over Bay area, no true earth at all. My library contains only 1.3GB. How can I download 200GB of Northern California and run it?
  6. Hello all, I've just taken advantage of the last few days of the 37% off sale to purchase a few more terrain regions and airports. All seems good, especially KJAC, and my SSD is now feeling rather overfed! However, I do have an issue with the navdata for the Northern California region. Specifically, installing the region seems to have added an huge number of spurious inner, middle, outer and back course markers. To illustrate, here's a 'before' image: the FSX map of the San Francisco Bay area with recently updated ILS data (it looks much the same with default FSX navdata)... And here's an 'after' shot showing all the mysterious marker beacons which are included in the new FTX_NCA BGLs. As you can see, even small airports like Byron (C83) seem to have acquired a full set of beacons for each approach. The profusion of markers around bigger airports with multiple runways like KSFO and KSJC is very obvious. The same thing seem to have happened over all of the NCA region... I searched the forums before posting, but didn't come across any discussion of this problem. Just wondered if anybody else is experiencing the same thing? I installed NCA patch001 and this is on an FSX Acceleration installation. Oh, and my order number for FTX NA Gold NCA is FSS0386639. Thanks, Nick P.S. I also had an issue with the ILS glideslope at KMRY but looks like there's a fix for that which I've downloaded - thanks!
  7. When I first installed global base, I was blown away by how realistic the SFO area was(I'm from Millbrae, the adjacent city), and the terrain and graphic details were accurate enough that I was actually able to locate my old High School on the 01R approach path and land on the sloped athletic track! So when I upgraded with FTX NA Northern California, I was very excited to see how my hometown was represented. Well, I was let down. While the scenery is very generally impressive, and San Francisco itself, miles off from the SFO airport, is very accurate, the "in between" SFO and San Francisco, is not. I was first surprised not to see a structure modeling the very iconic Millbrae BART structure, which is a prominent landmark with an In n Out Burger across the street right by runways 01. I didn't expect these to be modeled, of course, just some kind of matching autogen. But a climb to a higher altitude revealed the ground imagry for either was no longer there! Hmm? It was in global base, and this was supposed to be an upgrade. Trying to locate the High School, I realized neither it nor any school in the area, again thinking easily identifiable landmarks, were visible. Many streets lead to awkward dead-ends, and while it looks good from the sky as a lot of trees, houses, and roads, it was no longer photoreal. Sure, in the sense that the textures are very high detail, yes they are photoreal. However, what I am looking it is more or less gibberish on a scale of realism. I located a generic looking school-type building with a generic modeled track, which was built on the wrong side of the school if modeling the real life one and located in a different area. I decided to cruise up along the I-280 freeway towards SFO. If not for the accurate terrain and reference to SFO, I would not know where I was. All the ground imagery/scenery was off! For miles! Serramonte shopping center, colleges, parks, large parking lots and other landmarks, all missing. How could this be LESS accurate than the global base? Now, I would understand if this were an outlying area in the middle of no where. I am well aware of the mass of landscape included in this product. But this is the area around a major city and airport which is very popular with simmers. Not to mention the largest metro area in the included scenery. Is it possible my install was corrupted somehow, or does the Northern California scenery sacrifice photoreality in favor of an X-plane like "plausible reality" with the goal of plotting as many "close enough" streets and buildings as possible? If the latter is the case, I really wish this were emphasized. Not that I will have a choice but to stick with it having bought scenery that requires it, I suppose. Hoping it is just an issue on my end. Regards, Chasen Richardson
  8. First post here! Snapped these on my flight from KEKA to KMFR in the A2A Comanche 250:
  9. Decided to record a short circuit out of John Wayne, down around Newport Beach California and back.. Kept my P3D settings modest for smooth video recording purposes.. I'm a stickler for video quality.. IMO... If you're going to upload a video, it should be the best possible quality at the expense of a longer upload and processing time.. If you're gonna show off scenery.. SHOW IT OFF! But... That's just my own OCD. Enjoy folks.. P3D v4 - Orbx Southern California - 2560x1440@60fps
  10. Hi, Is it possible to have NA AI Traffic in the Northern California traffic using the AI Traffic North America General Aviation as for the Southern California scenery? I ask because I flew from FTX KAVX (SCA) to KHAF (NCA) and as I crossed the SCA-NCA Border all my traffic disappeared with no GA traffic at all. Subsequently I had to go into the NA Traffic control panel and enable the FSX Default Traffic tick box, to get any traffic in NCA. I am using FSX Acceleration sim. I apologise if this has been posted in the wrong forum or I am duplicating this request. Thanks in advance.
  11. A couple of pals and I near flew north from Carlsbad (KCRQ) to Santa Paula and we got this picture near Newport Beach. (Our real-life SNJ was reproduced as a skin for the A2A T-6 in amazing detail by crazac. Download the texture here. The weathered interior is true art, and the exterior has every detail right down to nicks in the prop paint.) If you take her flying be nice, that my wife in the back seat. Planning a vacation in northern California I remembered my Dad's adage to never buy (or rent) a house until you've seen the area from the air. So I borrowed a DC-3 and headed up there. It actually was kinda spooky when we drove because I felt like I'd been there before, and in a way I had. A friend asked if I'd let a photographer ride along in our SNJ so he could get some pictures of his Lockheed. We flew out of Sonoma Valley Skypark (KSTS) just south of Sonoma, and this one turned out rather nice, I thought. Another photo hop, this time I was shooting from the right seat of an A-6 as we flew up the beach near Monterey. VA-72 (Blue Hawks) had quite a history. They cross-decked to the HMS Triumph back in '49 when they were flying Bearcats, flew courier missions off the USS Wasp in their A4D-2 Skyhawks in support of Project Mercury, and flew A-7Bs on the first attack of a North Vietnamese SAM site in 1965. An A-6 from VA-75 led the strike using the sophisticated Digital Integrated Attack Navigation Equipment (DIANE) system. When it worked it was amazing, but it required 240 manhours per flight hour to keep an Intruder full-system capable. (Todays F/A-18s are more like 10 hours per flight hour. For more on the A-6 system and a hair-raising RL experience I had in an A-6 go here.) The Pacific Northwest is noted for it's weather. The Cascade Peninsula to the west gets more rain than the Amazon jungle and the Cascades to the east almost always have a veil of clouds. Flew my friend's DC-3 up that way to visit Victoria (the city), and we weren't disappointed by the display the weather put on for us. On the way home, we stopped in Astoria and another friend with a restored PBY invited us to ride along on a jaunt up the Oregon coast. The weather was awesome and sightseeing was fabulous from the cockpit and from the bubble back aft. (A friend with a cool airplane is much better than owning a cool airplane yourself, trust me.)
  12. The Wrigley family, of chewing gum fame, operated a lovely C-47 for many years. I was lucky enough to have the (virtual) job of flying it around the West Coast.
  13. VFR Flight: Garberville, CA (O16) to Firebaugh, CA (F34) Route: 016 - ENI - PYE - SAU - SNS - F34 Pictures: 1. Near ENI, looking east towards Ukiah. 2. Looking north at PYE (mmm, pye...aaaggghhhggghhhgh) 3. Golden Gate & Alcatraz 4. Over the Bay looking North towards Alameda 5. SW of Firebaugh...and yes, I needed to change my shorts... 6. Firebaugh...looking for a Pub.
  14. I've installed Northern California FTX and then KTVL Airport. This was my last ORBX install.....have installed several other FTX global sceneries without any issues, and am now experiencing app crash every time I locate any airplane to KTVL. Detail is attached. My system is ASUS Z87 TUF 1150, EVGA GTX 980 Ti, 16 G Corsair DDR3 Vengence, Samsung 840 PRO SSD, Corsair 1200i Power Supply. appcrash_KTVL.docx
  15. So strange - trying to install Northern California to a fresh install of P3D with Global and Vector loaded....asking for Disk 8 - when I point it to where I have the unzipped files ....Setup cannot open the following archive file - I may have inserted the wrong disk... I am running each installation as an administrator. Not sure why - this was not an issue the first time I installed it. I just yesterday did an Windows reset....could that be part of the issue? Does someone have disk 8
  16. I see other have this problem as well. The FTX installer freezes at 80% when unwrapping. They do not seem to have received any help. I'm thinking I'd like my money back. How do I do that? paradisca1 P.S. I forgot this: Order Number: FSS0425319 Order Date: 2015-11-21
  17. Hello, I recently purchased the KBLU airport triple pack. When I try to start my flight at CA21/Limberlost Ranch, my aircraft is partially buried or not visible from an outside view. Sometimes from an ouside view I can see one wingtip protruding from the ground or no aircraft at all. (yes, the new libs 150815 are installed). I thought perhaps there was an issue with the A2A aircraft I normally fly but through trial and error I discovered the same issue with the default Cessna. Am I missing a patch or service pack? Here's my setup... Windows 7-64bit FSX boxed +Accelerator FTX Global Orbx North American airport pack Orbx Northern California Region Orbx Sonoma Airport Orbx Blue Canyon Airport I'm curious if there is a problem with the order in my scenery library. It lists the "libs" at the top, installed airports, and then the rest of the scenery. Thanks in advance for any assistance. (Tried for screenshots but could not get them to work)
  18. Hi everyone, I am new to the forums. I use Prepar3d 2.5 (latest vesion). I have recently purchased FTX Base Global, FTX Vector, USA NC and KTVL. I installed as per the manuals without significant problems. The scenery looks great but I noticed large dry brown areas (Lake Tahoe). At first I thought it was due to scenery problems but then realized these were areas supposed to be covered by water. I then moved to San Francisco and noticed the same thing. At this stage I do not have any 3rd party mesh installed but plan to install FS Global Ultimate eventually. I do have REX soft clouds and REX4 installed. Anyone else had this problem? I have re-installed several times and must be doing something wrong but cannot figure out what. Thanks Jean-Paul
  19. Given that the Northern California area contains photoreal scenery of Yosemite (I can see it in the screenshots), what does the freeware photoreal Yosemite add to that? Is it a larger area or is there some other difference?
  20. Hi, I'm having an issue installing Northern California. I've downloaded it twice to make sure it wasn't somehow a download issue. I click the installer and put in my order #, date and serial, then the installer opens up but after clicking next it seems to finish installing in about 5 seconds which seems a little fast for an area the size of Northern CA. So, I opened FTX Central and checked the FTX Products Installed report and sure enough Northern Cali is not listed. Anti-virus is off and I've ran the installer several times with no results. Anyone?
