  1. I looked through my sparse collection of MSFS Amphibians & alighted upon the Grumman Goose. Entirely appropriate in an Alaska livery. Plus the AP works now, so I can set off for Juneau & go & have a coffee whilst the miles are bled off. A few shots using SoFly Typical UK Spring Day. I think I should have had clear skies & sunshine to do Ketchikan justice. However, WYSIWYG in the set below. Orbx Alaska Mesh is also in place here. Ketchikan is nicely situated on the BC Coast for trips to all points of the compass. An excellent & well rendered choice for Throwback Thursday. TTM (MSFS) Waiting to depart from the Southern end. Juneau is almost dead straight ahead from here. A different perspective of the Goose. Up & away. A stern trawler in the background? Ketchikan is quite compact as regards placement of operations buildings & hangars. The airport is back on the RHS. What is not showing is the flashing line of lead in lights taking you to the runway during an approach from the North.
  2. An astute choice for Throwback Thursday, fits in with the new Alaska Mesh & looks to have an array of detail touches. Plus Amphibians have a 'runway' choice, & its reasonably priced. Nicely done. TTM
  3. So we ehem ehem decided to continue our scheduled flight to Anchorage. The FO is off for the outside check. Tail: OK. Wings: OK. Main gear: OK. Engines: OK. I'm too tired to look at the fans today. Let alone the other side of the plane. They're built symmetrically for a reason, right? Cobbwebs: OK. Wait... Outside check completed, Captain... Captain? Dragged the Captain out of the bar and up the ramp! Economy left. Economy right. Leaving the Pacific Fiords region. Lucky with the weather. No need to cheat. That glacier whose name doesn't appear on Google Earth, no matter its size... Already way into our descent. Mountains to the right... Swamps to the left... That mountain northwest of Anchorage. Alaska horticulture? It never ceases to amaze me what they are cultivating up there! That mountain again... Approaching the Knik Arm. We're there. There arrives the yellow cab for me... ... and the ambulance for that grave case of simmeritis. Poor sod... That's it. Welcome to Anger Ridge!
  4. Hi Guys, I have been experiencing some weird crashes when flying at Ketchikan in P3Dv3. (To be clear, by crash I don't mean the simulator stops I mean I fly into something!) I downloaded the installation file from FSS today so it is up to date. It has happened twice now at the same place; I take off from runway 11 in a helicopter (Cera 212 or Aerosoft Seahawk so far) and fly low and slow drifting out over the runway border and nosing slowly toward the main airport buildings, gaining height as I go - not too much but enough to be well clear of any of the buildings. The crash happens well before I get close to the buildings. I can't get a screenshot because by the time I crash it is too late... I searched the forum but the only thing I got about crash detection at PAKT was from January last year. Also, since I am here, is there any planned patch for NIR to fix the Eglinton airport bug? It seems a bit strange that after all this time I still need to run a patch to do something as basic as stopping trees appearing all over the airport! I am asking mainly because a new wind farm has gone up that is right under the glidescope approach to Eglinton - it is quite spectacular at night - maybe it could be included in any upcoming patch...

  6. Hello, Hopefully someone can help. I think I broke Ketchikan Intl! I dont know what caused this problem. I was having issues (with track IR) and kept reloading the same airport within the ORBX southern alaska (@ PAKT Ketchikan Intl.) to test it. Everything had been working fine with all my ORBX scenery and I have already done several great flights from PAKT. After reloading the airport several times, it suddenly started to crash-to-desktop always within the part 88-99% loading land, air sea traffic. I reloaded from a different airport within the same Southern Alaska Scenery (PAGS) and it loaded fine. I fixed my trackir and flew to PAKT, and as soon as I got near that same airport, it crashed to desktop. I reinstalled first the alaska, with service packs, and had the same issue, so I then reinstalled all FTX products with updates, updated Libs, service packs, etc. and STILL have a crash to desktop only when loading any aircraft at PAKT, UNLESS I disable the FTX North America / southern Alaska. (It will work under FTX Global.) But again, reinstalling Southern Alaska did not fix the problem. Somehow, I might have broke Ketchikan from reloading that airport too many times too quickly?? I sent a Diagnostic report ot3a8468bf81947f49a77ef0e210bddff9
  7. Hey guys, I figured I'd share a time lapse video I made during an awesome flight I got to go on at the Airline I work for here in the PNW area. The video shows many areas featured in Orbx products. This flight was a repositioning of the aircraft to Anchorage from Portland, with a refueling stop in Ketchikan. The route pretty much followed the coast line. Featured in the video are a PDX takeoff, a visual approach into Ketchikan, an instrument departure from Ketchikan and an ILS approach into Anchorage (PANC) in addition to landmarks such as the Olympic Mountains, Glaciers, the city of Ketchikan and more. >http://youtu.be/PuBNkvIbQ4A

If you know already what iam talking about, is there any fixing available yet? Please let me know. Thanks, R. George Balzaretti FSS0163844
  13. Guys, is Ketchikan now "done"? I only ask because there was a promise on release to see if a few known issues could be resolved. The one I care about specifically, is the the lack of PAPI's. In a beautifully modelled airport and surrounds it seems a shame to not have something which in real life is pretty important - as much so as the main r/w and approach lighting, it can be argued - bush pilots may not agree!. I certainly miss them on approaches in real-world weather, and for me it detracts from the otherwise superbly realistic immersion. With all the other current development I suspect that you have now moved on, 'though. Keep up the good work - you're making one old aviator very happy! Graham
  14. A selection from my photoshoot today for my review of Carenado's new Beechcraft King Air C90B, in United States Navy colors:
