  1. Welcome to Greece's premier holiday destination, Kos - an island surrounded by history! Kos is one of the largest islands in the Dodecanese Island chain of Greece and is a very popular tourist destination, especially during the summer. With direct service flights from most European countries, there is a good chance that you've heard of it or even ventured there for a holiday. Over 1 million tourists flock there each year to explore one of the most amazing areas in the Mediterranean. Kos Ippokratis Airport (LGKO) is located at the central part of the island with a runway fit for virtually all aircraft - from an ATR to the A320 and even as large as a Dreamliner - Kos' Airport sees them all. During the peak summer time, the airport sees 46 different airlines fly in with many passengers hungry to explore the sights. From Riga to Rome, Stockholm to Stansted or Milan to Maastricht, there's no shortage of airports to begin your adventure from. Gaya Simulations are known for developing airports for X-Plane and Prepar3D and have recently developed EGPH Edinburgh and EGNM East Midlands for Orbx. Other notable releases for Orbx are Courchevel and Meribel and be sure to keep and an eye out for Key West Airport. Orbx and Gaya has seen a strong partnership evolve with collaborations on many projects from airports to populating the TrueEarth regions with 1000's of POIs. This new venture sees Gaya publish as an independent developer under the Orbx banner and will be available on Orbx Direct and Orbx Central soon! 2. G'day all, If anyone is interested in having a sneaky peek at Sedona Airport, our friend D'Andre Newman will be running a live preview over at AirdailyX this Saturday 28th March at 1700Z (Check your local timezone here). This will give you a chance to check out a small portion of the scenery package before it goes on sale (no release date set yet, sorry!). I will also be there, so if you have any questions regarding KSEZ or scenery design in general it will be the perfect chance to come along and join in. Apologies to those who will miss out due to inconvenient local time (ie everyone in Australia), but AirdailyX should have an archived version of the live stream up at some point following the event. http://www.airdailyx.net/fsnewsbreaker/2015/3/26/our-next-live-event-sedona http://www.twitch.tv/adxlive/ Cheers! Jarrad
  3. Quote from ADX ... viewers will get an early live pre-release sneak peek preview of Orbx Palm Springs live with the artist himself: Jarrad Marshall! This is an event you won't want to miss! Join us with your questions and comments live! http://www.twitch.tv/adxlive/ See you there!
  4. The last set of screenshots this week, Yakutat is going forward with testing and moving along at a nice pace. Here are some shots from the seasons that have not been shown off yet, fall, winter, and hard winter. Along with some shots of the bonus airstrip, A68 Situk Airport. Situk Airport isn't much more than a clearing in the forest, but it does have two cabins available to pilots, fishermen, and backpackers. Fall on the flatlands Situk Airport, Eagle Cabin Situk Airport, Raven Cabin By November the snowfall starts, RWY 2/20 is not serviced between October and May which includes the runway lighting. During the hard winter months snow is plowed from the apron and piled into a large mound in the center. The snowpack can reach up to 50ft high! Situk Airport, Raven Cabin again. This time showing the typical 2ft of snow piled on the roofs during the winter Most of the bodies of water freeze over, so get out your skis! Finally by March or April the bulk of the snow has melted. However the snow mound on the apron sticks around for much longer and gets very dirty. By mid-spring digging equipment breaks it up to expedite the melting process
  5. ...Yakutat is a little bit south of the midnight sun but during the summer it does dip below the horizon at about 10pm and rise at 2 or 3am. Here are some shots from the P3Dv2.2 beta showing off the excellent lighting system. Also featured are the newer FTX Global lights. Yakutat is all lit up at night now, possibly more so than the real town! Yakutat is moving tantalizingly closer to RTM testing, just a small handful of items left on my checklist! Enjoy the shots
  6. It's been two weeks since I first posted previews and I've intended to post more but I've been very caught up in working on the airport itself! Here are a dozen from the surroundings leading up to the seaplane base near town. It's not much of a seaplane base, there are two roughly defined landing areas and when you pull up to the dock there's a phone number to call to let the dock manager know you're there. Also a bonus shot showing off all of the islands north of the city!
  7. Here are some preview shots of my work on Anchorage. The approach into Merrill Field over the downtown is thrilling complete with an excellent job on the field itself by Neil Hill. More to come soon with other photoreal locations around SAK!
  8. Here are seven screenshots of Hoonah as requested. It is one of my photoreal areas that is complete with seasons and autogen. The coverage extends from the town to the airport and lumber mill.
  9. Here is a set of 14 shots from around SAK, enjoy! 11. W52 sits in beautiful rural Battle Ground, Washington. Surrounded by farms and floodplain it's mild seasons shine with the use of Russ White's wonderful NatureFlow combined with the power of ObjectFlow to provide animated and static trees and grasses year round. Here are some previews that showcase the beautiful nature in and around the airfield. Most shots are from fall.
  12. G'day all, As we pull into the final stretch with Anacortes, I thought I would share some impressions from the "other" areas of Anacortes. After focusing on the airport in part one and the surrounding scenery in part two, this final batch shows the five other landing areas included in the package. On top of the those already advertised (Allan Island private airstrip, Burrows Island Helipad & 21H Skyline water runway), I've managed to squeeze in enough time to include two final landing areas that fall within the PR coverage area: Island Hospital Heliport (WA02) and Becker's Landing (WN18). Please note that Becker's Landing has been created to sit halfway between the quality of a full-blown airport such as 74S, and a typical upgraded airfield you may find elsewhere in FTX PNW. An interesting side story regarding Allan Island: the island was purchased by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 1992, but since 2005 he has been trying to sell it (without any luck). Incidentally, the island is not actually named after Allen, but after a local WWII navy hero. Enjoy! 13. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful feedback on Anacortes so far, I'm getting quite excited as we edge closer to finishing this product off. Having slugged my way through the autogen annotation process, I thought I would showcase Anacortes from a slightly different angle. With a very large area of 60cm ground imagery (including the whole of the City of Anacortes), there are many scenic hide-aways to explore in your favourite GA or helicopter. I don't want to give away all the hidden bays, quiet hamlets and rugged coastline in these shots, but I hope these shots demonstrate that 74S is not just an airport scenery. Enjoy! Jarrad
