  1. Aloha! Welcome to the Hawaii, home to the U.S Pacific Fleet, busy working harbours and many tourist destinations. With this scenery you will find thousands of boats populating ports and marinas together with a variety of nautical traffic travelling between and around the eight main islands. That includes many leisure boats such as sailing yachts and motor boats together with the large superyachts that are the reserve of the super-rich. You might also be lucky enough to spot one of the few nuclear-powered submarines that are on exercise near to the islands too... Of particular note is Pearl Harbor, with its historical significance, wide array of US Navy warships and of course the USS Missouri aka 'Mighty Mo'. The US fleet is very active around the these islands. Moving Ships with Hard Decks This is the first of our sceneries to feature 'landable', moving US Navy and tanker vessels that you will find off the coast of most of the airports. Be sure to check for a friendly Marshaller on the deck though as their presence will confirm if it is a moving ship you can land on. $20.49 AUD Sales tax will be calculated at checkout where applicable. US$13.29 | €13,55 | £11.92 USD, EUR, GBP estimates only Included US Navy Vessels: USS Missouri (BB-63) Battleship Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile (DDG) Destroyers Ticonderoga Class Guided Missile (CG) Cruisers Oliver Hazard Perry Class (FFG) Frigates Harpers Ferry Class Dock Landing (LSD) Ships Tarawa Class Amphibious Assault (LHA) Ships Virginia Class (SSN) Nuclear-powered Submarines USS Bowfin (SS/AGSS-287) Balao-class Submarine TIP: For the best wake effects set the Ground Wind Speed to 3 knots or above. NOTES Requires Installation of the FREE Vessels Core Library (which is our common model library) Screenshots feature the Hype Performance Group H145 helicopter which is NOT included in the scenery. When a ship occasionally turns it will rotate beneath a landed aircraft. Moving ships continue to move when the simulator is paused/in menu. $20.49 AUD Sales tax will be calculated at checkout where applicable. US$13.29 | €13,55 | £11.92 USD, EUR, GBP estimates only

  3. Galileo Galilei Airport is an airport located in Pisa, Italy. It is the main airport in Tuscany and the 10th in Italy in terms of passengers. It is named after Galileo Galilei, the famous scientist and native of Pisa. The airport was first developed for the military in the 1930s and 1940s. The airport was used by 5,233,118 passengers in 2017. It serves as a focus city of Ryanair. The airport had its own railway station with a service to and from Pisa Central railway station but this was closed on December 15, 2013 to allow construction work to begin on a new fully automatic connection known as the Pisa Mover to take passengers to Pisa Central. The Pisa Mover came into operation on March 18, 2017. The airport has 5 passenger and 1 coach parking areas. Besides civilian operations, the airport is also used extensively by the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force) and is a base for, amongst others, the C-130 Hercules and C-27J Spartan transport aircraft. The airport is home to 46ª Brigata Aerea Silvio Angelucci (46th Air Brigade). 4. Happy New Year - late, we know. But the Summer holidays in Australia are still a thing, even if the weather has been mostly inclement so far, but there is still time! While everyone has had some small amounts of downtime, pondering life and the universe, the Orbx team has been reflecting on 2021, what we set to do and what we actually achieved. As you all know, lately we have been mega busy working with Microsoft on the release of the Australia World Update on Microsoft Flight Simulator and the Fokker. They have been labours of love over many many months, and we are really proud of the results (stay tuned re Fokker as we will be releasing an update with fixes and new functionality). We think the Australian update is the best (and certainly most extensive) so far - if we can say so ourselves! As a bit of a summary... during 2021 we released 18 Airports (with our HQ in YMEN across 3 platforms), 10 Cities, 22 Indy airports, 3 regions, 1 traffic simulator, 3 missions (the Santa Run, the Halloween Run and the Brisbane River Run) and our first aircraft, the Edgley Optica. Of these releases, 47 were Microsoft Flight Sim products, 8 Prepar3D and 5 X-Plane. The airport list, in case you need to complete the 2021 collection: LWSK - Skopje International Airport EG41 - Fishburn Airfield EGSG - Stapleford Airfield YBBN - Brisbane International Airport V2 LFKX - Meribel Airport KEYW - Key West International Airport EGTR - Elstree Aerodrome EGKA - Shoreham (Brighton) Airport CYBD - Bella Coola Airport LDSP - Split Airport S45 - Siletz Bay State Airport EGHI - Southampton Airport EGPB - Sumburgh Airport YBBN - Brisbane International Airport 1WA6 - Fall City Airport PAKT - Ketchikan International Airport LDSP - Split Airport ...and as mentioned, YMEN Essendon Airport - for P3D, MSFS and XP11 The cities have been VERY exciting products to make and see in action in MSFS: Paris, Singapore, Brisbane (also for P3D), Adelaide, Frankfurt (then incorporated in the German update), Cape Town, Dubai, Mumbai, and Auckland. Often we get asked about compatibility and inclusion when the MSFS world updates get done. Holger in particular works on the compatibility once the WUs are out. We don't get to see the final versions of photogrammetry from Microsoft (yes - not even for the AU Update) so we have to wait until those are released and then make modifications. As an aside, a number of people wonder why bother buying add-ons when MS will then incorporate similar changes in an update. My answer here is simple: it's a bit like going to the movies vs Netflix / Prime.... if you want to watch a movie when it gets out (and talk about it at your next dinner party), you pay a ticket now, and then yes maybe it will come out on Netflix or whatever subscription you have, and you can watch it for free. Up to you if you want to be there first, or wait for later. Personal choice. I paid $35 last week to watch the new Dune (awesome BTW), now I own it, and I am sure it will be included on Prime in 3-4 months, and I do not care. Again, personal choice. Ok where were we... Let's see what is in store (for the moment) in 2022. Prague for all sims, first one out will be MSFS (imminent!) Landmarks Panama Canal is about to be finished too, with lots of exciting features Updates to both our New Zealand mesh (the promised high-resolution LiDAR data) and Landmarks Auckland More of our PC-based landmarks products to be adjusted for release on Xbox OpenLC Asia - tricky as Eugene, the developer, is in the Ukraine and there have been disruptions there, plus this is such a HUGE project and we don't have firm dates yet A swag of aircraft for MSFS - we will release the names and models as we get closer to getting them out, as it seems aircraft sometimes hit snags due to sim-based functionality A very special project: YMML aka Tullamarine / Melbourne main airport, which will be led by Ed and Marcus, plus a Melbourne city pack with a number of POIs to make this city great again ;-) For MSFS, KCRW "Chuck" Yeager, KFAT Fresno, KPBI Palm Beach (also for P3D), VTSP Phuket and KBOI Boise. For P3D and maybe a bit delayed - TrueEarth Eastern Alps. We are looking at making YBBN Brisbane for XPL too, and a special GB North Landmarks pack for MSFS. Our Indies are also all busy with these new projects. From Marcus Nyberg we have ESSA Stockholm Arlanda in heavy development. Marcus revisits his ESP classic and brining it to MSFS with all new modelling textures. You can check the progress at The (very cool) Arlanda Journal. https://www.facebook.com/The-Arlanda-Journal-109400158308529 Finn Hansen takes on another Norwegian airport and he has ENGM Oslo in his sights. We hope to see this towards the middle of this year with progress going well with this major hub. Andreas Hegi takes a visit down to the gateway of the Dolomites with LIPB Bolzano Airport and he’s been bitten by the “interior terminal” bug. Another that has decided to try out the interior modelling fad is Rasha Tucakov as he looks to wrap up LYPG Podgorica as an addition to his Balkan Peninsula destinations. After the successful LKSK Skiathos, Matteo Veneziani wasted no time in revisiting KBUR Burbank as he works on a new version for MSFS with reworked models and textures and new groundpoly. This was necessary as we look to use this as the basis for the X-Plane version of the airport and will be available at a discount for existing owners. After that, Matteo will begin work on YBCG Gold Cost as well as look to finalise LIPH Treviso. Ken Hall is busy on working YMLT Launceston which will be a great addition to his home on the Apple Isle and he is in his element with some of the older buildings and bringing them to life, warts and all. And over in New Zealand, Tim Harris is feeling rejuvenated with his work on NZNV Invercargill and really pushing the limits on where art meets reality. Our MSFS mesh wizard, Dmytro Krikunov (if the name sounds familiar, it is because he is the son of Eugene our Global lead developer) is finalising the much awaited NZ Mesh update with 1m LiDAR in selected areas and his next region will be South America! That’s right, the whole continent. Phew! OK that is what we have got for the moment. I know many of you will have suggestions of what we should do next, and we are very happy to hear them (no guarantee though ;-) ). Hope you are all keeping safe and well. COVID has spread a bit through the Orbx team but overall we have been able to keep going OK. Hope you are too! Till next time....

  7. Hi everyone, We realise we have not announced any product roadmap for a while, mostly due to putting efforts on planning around the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator and understanding what was possible. After a few months, and a few more products, we feel now it’s a good time to draw up a list of products which we are planning to release in the next little while. Now - we know in flight sim (and in life!) things can change fast, so we reserve the right to modify the list and the sequence, so best to keep checking our “coming soon” page to be up to date with what is coming next. First of all, here are some of the Landmarks City Packs we have lined up for development in MSFS: Auckland, New Zealand Cape Town, South Africa Cairo, Egypt Dubai, UAE Dublin, Ireland Frankfurt, Germany Honolulu, Oahu, USA Melbourne, Australia Mumbai, India Panama Canal and Panama City Yokohama, Japan ....and Cityscape Sydney for P3D! Then a few Regional Packs, also for MSFS: Canary Islands Northern England Scotland A couple of very neat regions are planned for X-Plane 11 and Prepar3D, with the spectacular TrueEarth Eastern Alps (P3D) and TrueEarth Southern Spain (XP11), and you already know about openLC Asia. Regarding airports, we have a bit of a mix between P3D and MSFS, but we are also looking at a number of refreshed airports for XP11. These below are the ones in production: KBOI Boise International (P3D) KBUR Hollywood Burbank (XPL) KCRW Chuck Yeager (MSFS) KPBI Palm Beach (P3D & MSFS) LDSP Split Airport (P3D & MSFS) LIEO Olbia (XPL) LKPR Prague (P3D & MSFS) VTSP Phuket International (P3D) And from our Indies, we have the following that are in deep development: KAVX Catalina for MSFS (Ken & Tim) ENTO Torp for P3D (Finn) KVNY Van Nuys for P3D & MSFS (Matteo) LIPH Treviso for MSFS (Matteo) SBSP São Paulo for MSFS (Matteo) ESSB Stockholm Bromma for MSFS & P3D (Marcus) On top of these, our Australian HQ airport, YMEN, will be launched on MSFS, P3D and XP11 at the same time. Essendon Fields is celebrating 100 years of operation, and we are working closely with Essendon Fields management and airport operations to bring you this airport in its full glory, with max details and true to life buildings. We are rather excited by this (very excited as a matter of fact!), and we hope you will all come and visit. ;-) In some really new news, we will be soon releasing our very first aircraft for MSFS - the Edgley Optica. The aircraft was designed for low speed observation work with a loiter time of around 7 hours, intended to rival helicopters. The bubble canopy provides an amazing 270 degrees panoramic vision and almost vertical downward vision, which is perfect for enjoying Orbx scenery all around. A total of 22 aircraft were manufactured over the years and some are still operational in countries across the globe. Our version has been lovingly crafted with a high attention to detail and will come with some representation of real world skins including some of our own favourite custom designs. We are sure you will love flying this aircraft in MSFS as much as our team has. Well! That is a bit of a list which will keep us busy for the next few months… We are leaving this post open for comments. Happy to get your feedback and future requests! As always yours in flying, The Orbx Team

  9. There’s a lot to see at Goodwood… Sitting at the foot of the rolling South Downs, in Southern England, Goodwood Aerodrome is an intoxicating mixture of new and old. Originally known as RAF Westhampnet, the aerodrome was built in World War Two as an emergency landing airfield and satellite station for nearby RAF Tangmere. Throughout its lifetime, RAF Westhampnet was host to over 30 squadrons from The Royal Airforce, The Royal Canadian Airforce, The United States Army Air Force, The Royal New Zealand Airforce and The Naval Air Squadron. After the war, the aerodrome was passed into private hands and its name changed to Goodwood, as the land it sits on was originally leased from Goodwood Estate, which was owned by the then Duke of Richmond, Frederick Gordon-Lennox. Today Goodwood is still alive with activity, there is a popular flying school operating a fleet of Cessna 172s, Spitfire and Harvard passenger flights and a lively general aviation scene. Of course, the aviation side of Goodwood is only half the story, the famed Goodwood Motor racing circuit encircles the airfield and is the only classic circuit left in the world today dating from 1948. Event weekends such as The Goodwood Festival of Speed and The Goodwood Revival see hundreds of thousands of visitors descending on the circuit on event weekends and throughout the year. $30.95 AUD Sales tax will be calculated at checkout where applicable. US$20.74 | €20,73 | £18.09 USD, EUR, GBP estimates only Goodwood Aerodrome has been recreated faithfully over many hundreds of hours by Burning Blue Design’s modellers and coders with multiple on-site visits, and features: Over 200 custom 3D objects have been created exclusively for Goodwood Aerodrome, each with full Physical Based Rendering (PBR), allowing for far more realistic textures. There are tens of thousands of carefully placed stock assets, every sign, speaker, bench and tree, along with an assortment of ground workers and visitors, has been placed in the correct location ensuring an atmosphere of a working airfield. High-resolution colour-corrected ground textures taken from Bing maps and manipulated for consistency and realism which far surpasses the quality of the stock Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 ground texture. Based on the 2022 layout with accurate runway markings, taxiways and custom taxi signs and a working custom Windsock. Highly detailed control tower and hangar interiors and animated hangar doors that close and open between dawn and dusk. Full night lighting has been placed across the airfield and within and around the hangars and buildings. Correct AI pattern procedures and accurate taxiway and runway placement have been incorporated into the release. Goodwood House and Chicester Cathedral have been modelled and included. Actual aircraft from the aerodrome has been included and placed in accurate locations: Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX G-IRTY ‘The Silver Spitfire’ Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX RR232 ‘City of Exeter’ T6 Harvard IIB/T6 Texan G-AZSC Goodwood Flying School Cessna 172’s: G-HLOB, G-LOOC, G-DBOD, G-NXOE & G-SOOA. 21. Located to the south-east of Redhill in Surrey, Redhill Aerodrome sits less than 4 miles north of London Gatwick Airport. Redhill was first used as an aerodrome in 1933 for private flying by the Redhill Flying Club. As with many British airfields, it became an important asset in the Second World War, becoming a training school and fighter base with Spitfires stationed during the period of the war. It was also home to Canadian and Polish squadrons. Today, Redhill has a range of commercial aviation activities; these range from helicopter and fixed-wing charter services to flying training and aircraft maintenance. The aerodrome is also home to a number of private aircraft whose owners base them at Redhill because it provides a convenient location for both business and leisure purposes. The Aerodrome also provides a base for the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey and Sussex together with the National Police Air Service. 23. The latest release from Northern Sky Studio is here - PAYA Yakutat Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator! A great location to explore the Alaskan wilderness from or perfect for those short 737 ops to Juneau or Cordova. Yakutat played a vital role in Alaska military operations during WWII. The airport in use today was originally constructed in 1941 as a landing field for transport aircraft between Washington State and Elmendorf Air Force Base. Yakutat Army Airfield, a large aviation garrison and paved runway, was constructed as part of the United States Army's long-range defense program for Alaska. It was used in combat by the 406th Bombardment Squadron from June–November 1942 by the 28th Bombardment Group. During the peak of military activity in Yakutat from October 1940 to 1946, U.S. Army and U.S. Army Air Corps constructed the Yakutat airport, fuel dock and fuel tank farm, and a fuel pipeline to the airport with tankage. Also constructed was a full field hospital, possible beach landing defenses, over 100 miles of roads and bridges to connect all of the various field facilities and housing for the nearly 10,000 troops who were stationed in Yakutat to support and protect the airport. Nowadays Yakutat Airport is a state-owned public-use airport located 6 km southeast of the central business district of Yakutat, a city and borough in the U.S. state of Alaska which has no road access to the outside world.
