  4. Hi everyone, We realise we have not announced any product roadmap for a while, mostly due to putting efforts on planning around the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator and understanding what was possible. After a few months, and a few more products, we feel now it’s a good time to draw up a list of products which we are planning to release in the next little while. Now - we know in flight sim (and in life!) things can change fast, so we reserve the right to modify the list and the sequence, so best to keep checking our “coming soon” page to be up to date with what is coming next. First of all, here are some of the Landmarks City Packs we have lined up for development in MSFS: Auckland, New Zealand Cape Town, South Africa Cairo, Egypt Dubai, UAE Dublin, Ireland Frankfurt, Germany Honolulu, Oahu, USA Melbourne, Australia Mumbai, India Panama Canal and Panama City Yokohama, Japan ....and Cityscape Sydney for P3D! Then a few Regional Packs, also for MSFS: Canary Islands Northern England Scotland A couple of very neat regions are planned for X-Plane 11 and Prepar3D, with the spectacular TrueEarth Eastern Alps (P3D) and TrueEarth Southern Spain (XP11), and you already know about openLC Asia. Regarding airports, we have a bit of a mix between P3D and MSFS, but we are also looking at a number of refreshed airports for XP11. These below are the ones in production: KBOI Boise International (P3D) KBUR Hollywood Burbank (XPL) KCRW Chuck Yeager (MSFS) KPBI Palm Beach (P3D & MSFS) LDSP Split Airport (P3D & MSFS) LIEO Olbia (XPL) LKPR Prague (P3D & MSFS) VTSP Phuket International (P3D) And from our Indies, we have the following that are in deep development: KAVX Catalina for MSFS (Ken & Tim) ENTO Torp for P3D (Finn) KVNY Van Nuys for P3D & MSFS (Matteo) LIPH Treviso for MSFS (Matteo) SBSP São Paulo for MSFS (Matteo) ESSB Stockholm Bromma for MSFS & P3D (Marcus) On top of these, our Australian HQ airport, YMEN, will be launched on MSFS, P3D and XP11 at the same time. Essendon Fields is celebrating 100 years of operation, and we are working closely with Essendon Fields management and airport operations to bring you this airport in its full glory, with max details and true to life buildings. We are rather excited by this (very excited as a matter of fact!), and we hope you will all come and visit. ;-) In some really new news, we will be soon releasing our very first aircraft for MSFS - the Edgley Optica. The aircraft was designed for low speed observation work with a loiter time of around 7 hours, intended to rival helicopters. The bubble canopy provides an amazing 270 degrees panoramic vision and almost vertical downward vision, which is perfect for enjoying Orbx scenery all around. A total of 22 aircraft were manufactured over the years and some are still operational in countries across the globe. Our version has been lovingly crafted with a high attention to detail and will come with some representation of real world skins including some of our own favourite custom designs. We are sure you will love flying this aircraft in MSFS as much as our team has. Well! That is a bit of a list which will keep us busy for the next few months… We are leaving this post open for comments. Happy to get your feedback and future requests! As always yours in flying, The Orbx Team
  5. The Volanta team have been working hard since we released v1.1 back in August, ensuring that Volanta remains the most innovative flight tracker in the industry. We managed to set a new concurrent connection record of 1,704 users flying during VATSIM's Cross the Pond event! Three lucky users won prizes during this event, along with more prizes won during our "Fright Flight" competition. All in all, it has been a busy few months for us! The community sends us feedback every single day through our various social channels (Discord, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), letting us know how they think Volanta can be improved for everyone. The community feedback is what drives us to make Volanta better every single day, so from everyone at Team Volanta - thank you! Now, let's get to the exciting part! The updates that are mentioned below are still a work in progress, but we wanted to give you a sneak peek of what’s coming your way. Volanta v1.2 - Activities Update We are proud to announce our second major feature update, bringing you even more ways to fly: Volanta v1.2. This free update brings a whole host of new features to Volanta. We wanted to give our users more things to do. So, in v1.2, we have focused on expanding the activities available within Volanta. The “Challenges” page has been overhauled and replaced with “Activities”. This page will act as a hub for Volanta-powered experiences. You can discover new places to fly with Aerocaches, find new events on both multiplayer networks and Volanta, as well as searching comprehensive real-world schedules. More unique activities are in the works, we can’t wait to show you what we have coming. Real-World Schedules One of the most requested features from our community since launch is the ability to easily find real-world flights and callsigns. In Volanta v1.2, we are happy to announce that we have integrated global flight schedule data for Volanta Premium subscribers. Our data uses a real-world aviation feed, meaning we can provide up to a weekly refresh of our schedules, depending on real-world traffic. The ever-changing nature of our schedules will be especially evident as the aviation industry recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. Picking a route is easy - just choose a departure airport and Volanta will visualise all available destinations from that airport. All you need to do is choose an arrival airport and you will be shown a list of real-world flights that have taken place on that route. Selecting an arrival airport will filter the schedule list and just show flights between the selected departure and arrival airport. The schedule list can be further filtered by airline, aircraft and flight time. After clicking a flight, you can then see even more details like the local departure and arrival times, and terminal+gate assignments for some airports. Want to plan a day of flying? Queue them up using Volanta’s new roster feature. The built-in roster shows a list of your upcoming flights. Flight schedules can be added to your roster with a simple click. Furthermore, Volanta can now scan your scenery in supported simulators (MSFS, XP, P3D) to show you more relevant airports - further assisting your flight planning decisions. More on that below. Schedules are exclusively available for Volanta Premium subscribers. Volanta Premium is only A$6.35 per month (less than $5 USD), or A$63.50 when purchased for a year (2 months free). Schedules join our comprehensive Premium features including flight parties, cloud auto-saves, 4K cloud screenshots and much more. Schedules open a lot of possibilities for us, stay tuned to see what we have in store for the future. Aerocaches With the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator, we’ve seen a massive increase in users flying visually and exploring new places. Aerocaches are a global treasure hunt. You’ll be given a clue, and the general area to look in. Discover the floating Volanta symbol and fly through it to capture that Aerocache. On your journey you will discover new places you may not have seen before, and learn more about the world we live in. Sharpen your flying and detective skills to find all of the Aerocaches we’ve hidden around the world. Aerocaches are optionally injected dynamically into all three major simulator platforms (Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane 11 and Prepar3D v4+). We will be adding more and more Aerocaches over time, especially coinciding with Microsoft Flight Simulator’s World Updates. Online Network Events For those of you who enjoy flying on online networks such as VATSIM or IVAO, we have aggregated their events into a simple list - ensuring you never miss an event again. Events are shown on our powerful map, allowing you to visually see where you want to fly. If you intend to fly in an event, you can click the “I’m Going” button to let event organisers and community members know which events are the most popular. You can also receive a notification 30 minutes before an event begins, giving you enough time to prepare for your flight. A special thanks to the VATSIM and IVAO teams for providing event data. We’re very excited about the future possibilities this opens up! Scenery Map Another highly requested feature from the community was an integrated Scenery Map. In Volanta v1.2, you can scan supported simulators (MSFS, P3D, XP) and display your installed scenery on the Volanta map. Like most of Volanta, you’ll be able to view your scenery from the web and mobile too. This pairs great with our new Premium feature, Schedules, to show you where you can fly with real-world flights and callsigns. ---------- That’s Volanta v1.2: our activities update. We can’t wait to see how everyone in the community uses these new features. Remember, you can always let us know your feedback via our social media pages (Discord, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). As always, the core features of Volanta will always remain free, with ongoing support. For those looking to expand their flying experience, Volanta Premium is for you! We want to thank everyone for the continued support. Since we launched in January, we’ve had feedback and ideas coming in from our community every single day. Without you, Volanta wouldn’t be where it is today! The Volanta Team

  8. The Volanta team have been hard at work over the past few months gathering valuable feedback from the community and integrating it into our ever evolving smart flight tracker. We want to express our sincere gratitude for the support all of you have shown us since we launched in January. Our amazing community has been sending us valuable feedback daily through our various social channels (Discord, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). We get feedback from all types of sim pilots doing many different types of flying. It’s community feedback that drives us to improve Volanta. With that being said, we’d like to showcase what we’ve been working on. The updates mentioned below are WIP and will be in your hands soon! Volanta v1.1 It is with great pleasure that we announce our first major feature update: Volanta v1.1. This has truly been shaped by your feedback and suggestions and molded into something special. After many hours of development and testing, this free update includes exciting new features to further enhance the functionality and polish you’ve come to expect. Volanta v1.1 also introduces our paid tier: Volanta Premium. Learn more below. In addition to our existing core features, we’ve also added a few more things we think you might like in Volanta v1.1. Map The high performance GPU-rendered map is at the core of almost every Volanta feature. Because of this, we’ve put some extra effort into making it the most feature-rich map available. In Volanta 1.0, it can be difficult to see 3D flight paths. We’ve taken your feedback and overhauled 3D paths, completely changing how they work. Whether you look at the weather to avoid it, or to find more challenging environments to fly in, we’ve added a rain radar layer to help. This real-time data is sourced from various weather radars across the globe - and it even shows snow! We’ve had a few requests from our community to add light mode to Volanta. But, Mitch misheard and accidentally added Satellite Mode to the map instead. We think it looks pretty cool, especially when zooming into an airport and seeing the taxiway/gate labels on top of the satellite imagery. On the flights page, we’ve added two more features to help you browse your past flights. Firstly, when hovering over a flight in the list, the origin and destination pair will now be highlighted on the map. Secondly, if you have filtered your list of flights by searching for something like “aircraft:a320”, we will render only those flights on the map. Much easier shown in a video, see below Planning To make Volanta a more complete planning tool, once you’ve planned a flight with SimBrief (or imported from SimBrief), we’ll add an extra "Flight Briefing" tab below map settings. This will give you easy access to the information you need to plan your flight - all within Volanta! We’ve also included some handy buttons above the OFP. Clicking on these will quickly take you to the relevant section of the flight plan. No more scrolling through the many pages of a PDF. Screenshots If you’re like us, you have a screenshots folder that has thousands of screenshots contained within. As flight simmers, we love sharing our setups - our favourite aircraft, scenery or other graphics enhancements. If enabled, Volanta will watch your screenshot folders and geotag your images with the location of your aircraft. When you choose to upload them (either during the flight or after), you will see a screenshot icon at the exact location where your screenshot was taken. Your screenshots are organised within a particular flight and are always accessible. To help build Volanta’s community further, we automatically show a random selection of screenshots on the map that constantly refreshes. If you don’t want your screenshots to be public, we have powerful privacy settings that can keep your data private. Free users can upload up to 3 screenshots per flight, which are automatically resized to 1920x1080. Volanta Premium users can upload unlimited 4K screenshots, more on that later. This is just the beginning of screenshots in Volanta - we have some more exciting plans to further enhance this feature (like a feed of screenshots). We can’t wait to see the exciting screenshots you will upload! User Interface We’ve polished some existing features to make them easier to use, as well as giving them a fresh splash of paint. For example, when viewing your aircraft, you can now filter the list by type, airport, airline and registration. Our flight card also got an overhaul - it now has tabs . These make it much easier for us to add new features, instead of making the card longer and longer. We’ve also added support for fictional airlines (such as virtual airlines). To see fictional airlines within Volanta, you must enable them first under Settings -> General -> “Include fictional airlines in search results.” If you’d like your VA to be added, please ensure you meet the minimum requirements then complete our Fictional Airline Form. Volanta Premium Volanta Premium allows you to support Volanta’s continued development, whilst also getting some exclusive features and perks. As many of you already know, it’s not only about the simulator itself. There are a lot of important programs, features and external tools that go into every flight. Whether that be from flight planning, weather programs or simply searching for flights. It all adds to the clutter and minimizes your actual “sim” time. Volanta Premium gives you the opportunity to focus more on flying and less on setup + paperwork. One of the main goals for Volanta was to incorporate industry leading features, all while keeping our easy-to-use functionality. Since our development team are also dedicated flight simmers, we’ve always wanted a tracking system that added value to our flying. For that reason, we developed ways to minimize downtime and add valuable functionality. Sense of community Part of the fun is sharing your simulation experience with others. For this reason, we built Flight Parties: fly with your Volanta friends and easily create your own group flights. We currently allow up to 10 participants per party. Volanta Premium is only required by the host of the party - you can invite any Volanta user to join. You don’t have to fly the same route to be in a party. It simply lets you connect with your friends and enjoy the flying experience all in one place. Party members can easily copy the origin, destination and filed route from any other member in the party. You can see your party member’s OFP briefings too. When browsing through your past flights, you can even see the party members you flew with. The benefits of being in a party also extend to Volanta’s powerful map. In addition to seeing fellow party members highlighted, you can also draw on a collaborative real time map. Members of your party will see your drawings appear instantly. Each user also gets assigned their own colour. You could use this to show which route you’re going to taxi at a complicated airport, or the path you intend to fly between some towering mountain ranges. Or you could draw some "art". The possibilities are endless. This is just the beginning of parties in Volanta. We are super excited by this feature, and can’t wait to hear community feedback. More tools to help you fly Ever get that annoying CTD or run out of memory? Our cloud save and load system gives premium users the chance to reclaim their flight, without having to manually reload the sim. Simply load the saved flight within Volanta and it will automatically bring you back to where you left off. To further extend our cloud save and load functionality, we introduced smart autosave. This isn’t just a 5 minute timer that triggers a save - it’s a little more. When your aircraft is below 5,000 ft AGL, we don’t trigger saves. This stops annoying saves from stuttering your simulator during the most important phases of your flight - takeoff and landing! Additionally, we trigger a save as you begin pushback. This allows you to load a save at a point in time when your aircraft’s FMS has been configured for flight. If your sim crashes at some point before takeoff, you can reload from this save, complete your pushback (again), and fly without having to set everything up again! Finally, we also trigger a save when your flight ends. This powers Volanta’s aircraft persistence. See more below. Volanta’s smart autosave is also configurable. Keeping you in control of your simulator. Save, load and autosave currently work in FSX, P3D and MSFS. Noticed your simulator time slowly drifting out of sync on a long flight? Volanta monitors the current time in your simulator and can automatically sync it to the current UTC time as soon as it detects a drift. No more confusing ETAs! (FSX/P3D only) Imagine you’re away from your sim and notice (using fly.volanta.app on your phone) that you’re getting quite close to your destination. With Volanta Premium, you can now remotely pause (and unpause) your flight. Continue where you left off One thing missing from flight simulation is persistence. Currently when you start up the simulator, you have a fresh aircraft spawned in at a new gate. The aircraft don’t really have a history. With Volanta Premium’s aircraft persistence (powered by smart autosave), you can load your aircraft exactly where you left it from a previous flight: aircraft position, fuel, switch states can all be persisted. These aircraft persistence saves are backed up to the cloud, so if you reinstall your simulator, or get a new PC, you can always have access to accurate positions for your fleet. Aircraft persistence is an extremely powerful feature for which we have many improvements planned, including sharing aircraft among friends and seeing your other aircraft parked in the simulator. Making your simulator world more dynamic and ever-changing. Even more benefits For those of us who really love taking screenshots, Volanta Premium allows you to upload unlimited 4K screenshots to your flights. As a Volanta Premium user you’ll receive a Premium badge that’ll be displayed on your profile, in the friends list and when other users view your active flight. You’ll also receive an exclusive role on our Discord server which grants you access to premium-only channels. To further reward Volanta Premium early adopters, we have an exclusive 25% off a large range of Orbx products that will be automatically applied to your Orbx account. 23. We are pleased to announce the next instalment of our successful Microsoft Flight Simulator mesh product line - Himalaya Mesh. Known for its characteristic features of soaring heights, alpine glaciers and jagged peaks, the Himalayas (or Himalaya which is derived from the Sanskrit words of snow abode) is home to the highest mountains in the world. Himalaya Mesh has been carefully blended from 3 different sources resulting in a crisp 10m resolution to give you a truly unique experience in the area. This is also by far our largest in terms of coverage area with an installation size of just over 20GB. Like our other Microsoft Flight Simulator mesh products, Himalaya Mesh is a 100% self-contained product with no changes made to the default mesh or any other files. With virtually no noticeable performance impact, each LOD is consistent without any blurring and minimal LOD morphing when flying over the mountainous terrain of the Himalayan ranges. As always, pictures are worth 1000 words and we have a selection below of the Himalaya Mesh compared with the default currently seen in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Coverage area
