  1. G'day - fellow old coots What's your reaction to the youngster on the block - MSFS - sometimes called MS2020 now that the videos are coming thick and fast. Personally - I will keep my P3D 4.5 - because it looks like I wont be able to fly my oldy birds around in the newbie - but would love to be able to use my hangar to create old time flight journeys now that MS have opened up the World for us - imagine the trip England to Australia over 5/6days in the Qantas Imperial Airways Sunderland/ Catalina Flying boat
  2. Gerold - I just realised that I might have made a Blue - its Sydney - and I have just realised that it is not an Orbx airport since I rarely use it in my simming Sorry! I almost put up an obvious Heathrow and realised that that wasn't an Orbx as well. Try this
  3. Here's one from 1973 which is a clue - but I doubt if anyone can recognise it - without some sort of Guess
  4. dead right Gerold - here's another view with my Citation 560XL - literally on Lift Off and where Orbx includes most of the town. Bundaberg's famous Pilot was Bert Hinkler - the first man to fly solo from England to Australia and his plane is in the local museum
  5. Ok - I won't do this again - which makes it difficult to take part in this "Game" I have loads of photos - all over the world - taken in the 70s and 80s - but is impossible to find one that Orbx has produced - but can find many that are included in Orbx scenery. . I am often reminded that Orbx will not produce an airport specifically - if it has already been produced by others
  6. Speaking of Orbx airports - I have quietly been revisiting my Library of them - including Aus V2 - keeping a number of screenshots - and when August 18th arrives my first flight will be around my Antipodean country once more - not only to see what MS have done - but to compare what we currently have - to what MSD is orffering. Meanwhile - in the absence of a current Question - try this easy one.
  7. Sheesh - my memory not being what it was - I forgot the Golden Gate - that's 3 famous bridges in my lifetime but I do remember Bing Crosby in the film about the building of it
  8. Hey Gipsy - g'day from Downunder Baton Rouge - Louisiana Is that the place where "magnolia blossoms round everybody's door and the folks keep eating possum until they cant eat no more" Believe it not - for some reason I can't get that #$%^&& song out of my old brain
  9. Well done Gerold I was getting worried for a while and getting another pic ready of The freeware 727 at ESSENDON - which is the Orbx one - little a little more posh than the old airport and still a very busy GA airport To those who don't know Australia - Essendon until 1971 was the 2nd principal airport in Australia with Sydney slightly bigger. Essendon was replaced by the new Tullamarine Airport - you know as Melbourne YMML - which opened in August 1971 and built with advanced planning - to take the new Jumbo 747s. The wife - myself - and 5 kids under 11 and 14 suitcases - arrived in the first week of The new shiny - 1 terminal airport as Immigrants -so the place holds fond memories - but I find it hard to find my way around these days - on the odd trip down South The 727 was the standard internal aircraft - used by the independent airline Ansett and by the government owned T.A.A.
  10. Speaking of Age - and yardsticks - it used to be said that you knew you were getting old when policemen and the local priest started to look very Young - even if they were in their 40s/50s. Here's another - today I learned that the Brisbane Story Bridge was 80 years old - and I already knew I was older than The Sydney Harbour Bridge - that makes 2 - so I must check up on the Nipon - Clippon Auckland Bridge in the Shaky Isles - to see if I can beat that for a hat trick
  11. "Definition of Optimism" At 85 - even though I am waiting for the new X Box Series X due in November - yesterday - I bought a new 8 gig Video card for my Desk Top P.C.- to give P3D 5 a go
  12. Hey Ian - Old Mate Does this mean you are back in Harness again??? - how do you feel ?? - you obviously got thro' the lockdowns In my case - it meant that the missus didn't moan a lot when she had to go out shopping - on the basis of the warning for the over 80s - and all I did all day - was flying aeroplanes - without conscience. I actually had my first haircut for 8 weeks last week - and today I went to the library - by appointment to pick up 5 reserves which were available 3 months ago. Only one person working at a desk just inside the door - and the books already for me which means I can put my Kindle back in the drawer You must be missing the Library !! Have you still got the "Harley" John
  13. Been waiting for chance - hope I am OK with this Old (Orbx) airport - old aircraft -Ghosts of the 70s
  14. When I was a European of North of England/UK domesticity - 50 years - the Far East was a derogatory term for all the above - because it was a description of "shoddy goods" stemming mainly from Hong Kong - Taiwan (you missed off) - Japan(cars) and the Philippines. Mainly plastic toys and cotton goods Very little came from Communist China. The current name as far as we - in the modern day Far East - are concerned is the description "The Asean Nations" of which all of the above are members - and the 3 others you might have forgotten --- Australia - New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. However - my point was where the largest spots on the chart were - and should be the starting point for a much easier starting point for Orbx as a marketing research in terms of SQ Kms - whatever it can be politically called
  15. No worries Nick - thanks for the heads up - I was to lazy to get out my photoshop to black it out time has moved on since those days and form no part of the digital world that matters. (I kept the document just to prove to Roger that I was a bona fide customer all those years ago so that he would let me have Aus V1 12 months ago free of charge - but he wouldn't accept the UK bit so I had to buy again.)
  16. Summarises distinctly - what we in Australia see and expect those spots to be - by definition - South East Asia - or what people in the Americas and Europe call "The Far East" In Market Research terms - What percentage was the total of contributors / general Orbx forum contributors ?? ------------------------------------------- What percentage of the Orbx Customers - past and present - live in the area defined as S.E Asia - including Australia/NZ ? Orbx - if you did do think more of - what seems to be the "want" - I would be the first to give you the money now - on trust as I once did in May 2009 - when you wanted to join the Aussie Regional colours into 1 programme - i.e. FTX Australia SP3 - pre order. - or maybe Orbx are just waiting to see the impact MS might bring later this year - since we haven't yet seen any screenshots of the S.E Asia scenery !!
  17. Thanks Patrick for that I have Orbx since 2008 - when they made their first coloured scenery - and I use only Orbx - by choice - for my scenery on P3D and I used XP11- because of their TE scenery IT's not a question of my having a Longreach airport - I used to live there - but a large Australian scenery developer not developing an Aussie Icon - well in my book - at sucks - and leave that garbage Longreach scenery on AV2 is as Bad! I'm sure Qantas would kick in a few Bucks to sponsor the development - and that's how we got the museum up and running in the first place !!
  18. Whoops - time change made me tooo late for this one - however - good to see the pics especially the Avro made by the Qantas Apprentices As a person very much involved in the birth of the Qantas museum - I have already complained at Orbx's attitude to the airfield that is the birth of Qantas - and what they show in Australia V2. I made a comment way back about this - and I note you commented in that diatribe of mine. Here's the reminder. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/185125-Orbx-and-qantas/ I haven't changed my mind - and have not bothered with the Ant version - because all I have is Orbx on P3D and enough problems without adding to them by using other addons - except a/c of course. As for their "Policy of not repeating other developers airfields" that has been proven to be cods-wallop. That might have been the case way back in the late last decade - but to an Australian company its about time Longreach was as important as Caboolture/ Bundaberg etc and this time without a huge and small Yankee fighters and bombers I mean this is supposed to be the famous Qantas hangar
  19. "Way off the beaten Track ?? - No way is it !! - anything but !!. Take a look at Skyvector Planning - and note the parcity of any where else to get a fill up after some long over water trips. Outside of the Wet Season - the "Top End' is a "bin there - dunn that !! " objective for all seriously minded 4 Wheel drivers - and fishermen I went there twice in the 70s in my PA 32 with 3 mates - to Weipa and the islands on fishing trips - some of best spots in OZ Way up to the NE of Horn - is Murray Island - a freeware Orbx A/P - now that would have baffled you even more The screen shot is the absolute North of the top of the Aussie mainland - hence "the Top End"
  20. Here's Google's view that it does exist - and is a popular airport - much busier than Bundy
  21. Not Bundaberg - but the State is right I can assure you - I Have nothing but Orbx on my computer - except for Instrument and aircraft addons I stopped there O/N - on a "keep Australia on the left"
  22. Never could recognise a private hospital - since I have never been in one Joy flight to Byron Bay !! - I hope that was earlier than March or he would have been up for 2 weeks quarantine Here's my contribution to the puzzlers - and the only clue I will give is it is also in Australia - just - and I flew there again recently.
  23. Gold Coast Airport - clues are The hospital at Robina and Mount Warning just peeping on the horizon
