  1. It will come eventually I'm told, but only as part of other work for a service pack or similar.
  2. Probably important to remember that Orbx is a flight simulation company. Not an architectural or landscape modelling entity. The scenery's purpose is to look as realistic as possible within the constraints of software and hardware, to a variety of pilots flying a variety of aircraft, in normal legal flying operations, whether that is RPT flights or weekend VFR jaunts. Certainly when beta testing our focus is to look at the airport scenery from an aviator's point of view, rather than delving into every corner to see if every last detail has been rendered perfectly.
  3. Not wanting to directly quote the devs but I'd say it's a time of year when many competing priorities are faced, and given the nature of the problem it may not be an easy fix. It's true you can't make a normal landing at the airport at the moment but with a bit of flexibility you can hold off touchdown and still land comfortably. That's what i did when I wanted to land after checking it out last time.
  4. You can set up any of these, sure. I don't know how you'd do ones like the orange tint in the dust storm etc but it'd be in the sdk somewhere. When they say presets beyond the built in system I think they mean beyond the weather presets that ship with MSFS and the cahnges you would normally tweak in them when setting up a flight.
  5. I got that notice too but I just ignored it and launched the app. Is it different for you?
  6. This was definitely not the situation in P3D when the airport was developed so it appears to be something that P3DV5 has introduced. The problem is not there in V4, and as a test I copied the V4 airport over to V5 and the problem surfaced again. These screenshots might make it easier for Greg to track down the problem:
  7. Quite possible the guide has missed an update to reflect this. Fear not, Central is a great program, best thing since sliced bread for product management. The only issue some people have is the separation between Marketplace and Orbx Direct products not being visible in one place. If that will worry you then stick with Marketplace, if not download Central and get the product!
  8. My Youtube feed just featured this video! Coincidence! Something to practice in the sim for a thrill maybe???
  9. Just an idea, have you tried different browsers? I know that I was having problems with similar popup windows in Chrome and Firefox, and as a last resort I tried the Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge as I think it is now, and bingo! all of a sudden it worked. It must be hard for website managers to constantly keep up with all the little code changes that are put in place. My current browser of choice is Opera, seems to be very error free.
  10. Since the cityscape was first developed for FSX one problem introduced in P3DV4 and V5 has remained: the dam holding the lake back displays differently and looks like a great wall! Anyway today I tried a quick fix and it seems to have worked without any consequences. In the Canberra Cityscape Scenery folder is a file called dam_lake.bgl. Simply add a .OFF extension to this file and the dam disappears and the photoreal underneath is quite acceptable. I'd be happy to hear if this works for everyone...

  12. I've just completed the first three legs of the included bush strips adventure! A great component of this package. I absolutely recommend if you get the package make use of the included adventure around Eastern Victoria. Although I've been there in real life I've never flown over it and I'm learning things every minute of the flights!
  13. The Victor One route will be attended to as soon as possible. At the moment the MSFS coding doesn't allow the mesh to be overwritten satisfactorily but as soon as a solution is available the intention is to completely remodel the coastline where needed.
  14. I'm only guessing but with my Sydney behaving perfectly with only default and Orbx sceneries installed, perhaps the problem is from conflicts with other add on sceneries or add on aircraft? If you do have any other add ons in your commuity folder it'd be worth deleting or moving them out to see if it makes a difference. Just a thought.
  15. This is apparently something that has appeared in the P3DV4 and V5 sims sometime recently, and is probably related to unforseen consequences of making the sims perform faster. Form what I can gather the devs have no control over it, as the models haven't changed, just the way they display through haze, and in this case clouds.
  16. I have my rolling cache set to 100GB and I haven't been having any problems with either crashing or the slow framerates I thought it was causing when I first got MSFS.
  17. Did you previously install any sceneries for the Sydney area? I suspect any duplicate files for the same scenery area might crash MSFS. None of the beta team ever suffered any crashes or poor performance.
  18. Hi I just flew up the western boundary of the No Cal scenery and I realised something... the areas that are way too red are on the eastern boundary of the scenery and a good percentage are outside California! There's a few areas where the overly red tiles protrude into California territory but within a few miles the colour reverts to a nice neutral grey with a shade of pink that presumably was embedded in the source imagery. My guess is that the colour correction work that was done was on a map reference basis up to the boundary and tiles outside the coded area missed out on part or all of the colour correction. Given that different devs work on different aspects of the product, this is somewhat understandable. From what I can see it looks like up to 98 or 99% of the state is actually quite a good colour even in P3DV5, I would venture to suggest it's not as bad as an initial inspection along the eastern boundary might suggest.
  19. Interesting observation. I've been testing all the aircraft and I'm finding the modelling is incredibly good for default planes. There are things that don't work in some of them sure, but the flight models and the look and feel in the cockpit is pretty damn good. I put the C172 on a par with the X Plane 11 model which is pretty darn good.
  20. I went into my Nvidia Control Panel and reduced the saturation or digital vibrance as it is known, a value of 40% seemed to give a reasonable result. I might add here that not every one sees reds in the same way, a lot of males in particular are red colour blind to a degree, and the imagery as supplied to Orbx appears to have been quite red to start with. I found some Google Earth dates where the colours were very similar to what we see in Nor Cal. I still enjoy flying around looking at the amazing landscapes.
  21. There's no surprise there, there was never any intent to try to match the True Earth region to the Global or NA landclass, as the products are totally different. The contrast in XPlane is even greater. It's just the way it is.
  22. I just tested this. With crash detection on I got a mid air crash at 4000' about 28nm from the airport heading between 060 and 090 degrees.. HOWEVER, I turned off crash detection and no crash.
