    Hello,

it has quickly become clear that the update experience has seen the full spectrum from impossible to seamless.

I doubt that there is much value in insisting that any one experience is typical or indeed likely to be the

    experience of anyone else.

Anyone with actual inside knowledge would, I assume, be prevented from making that public by an NDA.

If we find ourselves unable to resist the desire to comment, the rest of us are left to make assumptions and guesses.

Those with a little inside knowledge who dare to post cannot even agree on which version has been released,

based on their revelation that the released version does not match their preview one.

If one customer is happy with the result, it is not for another to do their best to point out the faults that they perceive

to be present in their installation. To do so will, if it achieves anything at all, achieve nothing more than spoiling one

person's enjoyment for no benefit at all.

The correct place for complaints about MSFS is the MSFS Zendesk, or the FS forum where there are plenty of like-minded

people  ready and willing to complain about both the real and the perceived faults following this update.

I don't believe that anyone 'did their best' to point out either way. I  believe that people have the right to express themselves in any way they choose, if it not offend sensibilities in general.  If one can not express their own true belief in a matter, than what is a forum all about then.  To only promote the advancement of sales from the host company?  If so, Nick, then you shall have the pleasure of not seeing any more 'of doing my best' to 'spoil' another's perceived pleasure.  Quite frankly, I have had enough of 'admonishment' replies...  'spanking the backside' replies.   You won't see any more participation, lest I 'offend' your alignment on what is 'approved' by your sense and sensibilities.  Simply, with the above, I've had enough.  You may delete my registration within the Orbx Forum spectrum  I won't be posting further.  Simply had enough of this stance of opinion  'superiority' from you.

    Good day,  and regards,

I really don't see any issues people have gone on about, I have the same quality as pre-SU5 with increased performance (I've just finished a complete reinstall)

I'm glad the weather is being fixed, hope this means I can go back on VATSIM

If that is the case for you...than that is truly a very good thing.  Of course not everybody will see everything and all things, on any matter in parallel.  For myself, and on the Official Forums, many have already posted their chagrin, at the devolvement of visual clarity for the boost to elevate FPS output. They have definitely done that!  I can run the 'er....somewhat 'massaged'  Ultra on my older CPU, and my GTX1070 8GB at a constant 29/30 FPS at nearly a smidgen below 4K.  With SU4,  no way, could I do this..and had to run at medium to high and also drop my rendering to 80 percent of my wide view native reso.   Now...I'm at 100 percent native, and can pump out the FPS, with all bars showing green.  Now...where did THAT performance come from?  Also,  why is my 1070  'yawning' at the graphic load sent from the CPU?  I can tell ya why...but the reveal is not a popular viewpoint....   Cheers, sir!

I just experienced some of that

Blurry textures at distance, morphing textures

    Slow autogen loading

    Very fast autogen disappearing

and that intense green/yellowish that tell you all over the scenery that the ground is a flat, dead, boring fake picture, not casting shadows or giving the sensation of realism

I feel I'm completely back in P3D, at least in the areas I've tested. Icheon, Tokyo, Moscow

The three colors is Tokyo, gray, green and green/yellowish/whitey is simply ugly and completely far from realism

Some other areas look incredible like in Darrington, in my country, etc.

Performance feels a lot better, smoother

The planes seems unstable, the A320 don't break well. The keyboard key control for the gear doesn't work as before, etc

The king air tends to bank, etc

I hope the hotfix improves some of these

I don't know to feel but I dislike many things specially the photo ground that looks so fake in some areas

    Cheers

    Carlos

Carlos, the official forum is RIFE with those stating the same as you and me.  The textures have definitely been dumbed down.  FPS doesn't come free, and if it were purely a code 'tweak' it would have been done months ago.  They have turned down the coding parameters...for instance Ultra doesn't produce the same intensity and graphic punch (GPU 'demand'), that even SU4 had.  Many have seen this...for where else do you pick up 25 to 35 percent more FPS on current systems?

This is not a rewrite of the code. This is a cut back of the slider and button parameters in the XBox mandatory download.  There is no more PC edition. There is only the Xbox, that will also run on PC.  As some of those on this thread have stated, (smile) "Nuff said".   You and I are only two out of many, many that have seen a 25 percent or more, visual degradation of the clarity of the textures since SU5.   I respect that others might have a difference of opinion, and that is fine. I stated my 'take'.  Not my 'take' trumps anybody else's :)

    Cheers,

Not sure I'd pay as much as 36 cents for that analysis. And given the very high-end graphics nature of the Xbox console, I think your assertion that somehow the graphics in the PC version have been dumbed-down is ludicrous and does not in ANY way jibe with what I have seen in SU5. If you check with people who stream for a living you'll see that none of them are whining about decreased graphics fidelity and they'd actually know since that is their livelihood.

Perhaps you should check your settings and ensure that there wasn't a slowdown in photogrammetry due to a sudden and temporarily increase in the number of simultaneous users before you go chucking the best and best looking sim in the known history of the universe for one of the obsolete ones that is not long for this world. But if this is truly your swan song in MSFS-land: dog speed. You will be missed.

Until you inevitably realize your mistake.

On the official forums, others have noted what I have noted.  Nuff said...lol.

  5. About SU5...I can now on an older system, with a GTX1070 8GB card...keep at 29/30 FPS set to Ultra at nearly 4K on the screen.  What did I lose, in SU5 to get that FPS performance?

    Simple:

Clear sharp textures, ...but now, since the update, even with every trick I can think of pre or post rendering, in or outside the sim,  I now have the same graphic look as though someone who is near sighted, took off their prescription glasses and gazed at their screen.  What is the good of (seriously..!!!) of having 30 sustained FPS, but only because they dumbed down the graphic rendering (and demand) on the GPU,  that in comparison, my rendering(s) in P3D v5.2HF1 is so vastly superior.   So,  it seems to me, and to quite a few others, that they truly did release an X-Box optimized version for the PC as well.

Yeah,  I have simply great FPS performance now...but at a supreme cost....grainy and blurry graphics.  Ground textures that look like I'm back in FSX.  It is what it is. I can do nothing about it, other than choosing another flight sim to take up my hobby time.   I do have a choice, and for myself, am going to take it.  So,  MSFS was the grand and protracted 'hopeful' experience, and in hindsight, am so grateful and supremely appreciative of what L.M. pulled off in completely giving new life to their P3D franchise. It has razor sharp Orbx synthetic graphics in it, that BECAUSE of their clarity, in my personal take, is now superior to MSFS SU5.

For a single SU5/MSFS 'vote' count me as quite disappointed.  FPS means nothing, if flying over an OBVIOUSLY cut back and dumbed down graphic output. It means nothing to me at all.

No HotFIx will bring back the graphic output PRIOR to last Tuesday's forced Main Code update.  This is now MSFS on your PC.  Optimized for the X Box console. Live with it, (if you can), or choose another available current flight simulator.  I feel as though I were truly a beta tester, all these months, and having paid through the nose for it running on my PC.  That's how I personally feel now.  Optimized now to me, truly is revealed as getting it tested with this and that...this update and that...to the day it comes to the X-Box.  I believe that was ALWAYS the plan...and that is why out of the 'blue'  M.S. reengaged the franchise...to have a flight simulator on their Game Console.  They have realized that endevour, last Tuesday.  I'm finished with being a high-costed 'alpha/beta' tester.  Everyone else will chart their own MSFS course, from SU5 on...

    Cheers, and...

    My 36 cents...

  6. Thanks everyone...yeah, as they say, the $300.00 burger...but at least my wife only wanted a coffee and Danish.  I was lucky this time! :)  Coming into land, I was pretty much crabbed and starboard wing down, until I kicked it, and touched down.  It was a very immersive and 'hand's on' landing! :)  Great fun, and education regarding control. ASP3D was just great for this injection.

    Hello

After I had to downgrade from v.52 to 5.1HF2 (performance reasons) I have these weird water tiles close to the coast. I tried to reinstall P3D scenery and all Orbx products (Global, LC) Nothing worked so far. Here are some images:

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Use VERIFY Files in Orbx Central,  for all your v5.x titles, and then use under HELP, to SYNCRONIZE the flight sim. Then, you should be good to go....

A small number of flying friends think that MFS will be the future of simulated flight, and P3D will become very small. This wrong view is terrible.

"Honestly, before v5.2 and v5.2 HF1 was released...well,  er....I thought so too.  In MSFS, I had no morphing to spray paint of the cloud scenery, and quite frankly, I stopped all usage of my P3D v4.5 and v5.1 because on my system, 5 minutes into a flight...it became (as I like to call it...) scenery spray painted below me. Not Orbx's fault in any way,...and I clearly (if you excuse the pun) see that now...for many flight sims version back...FSX, and all the prior P3D's. On my system, at the level of detail I required to enjoy the virtual experience, it was flying over spray paint.

v5.2 and v5.2HF1 were a  mind-blowing revelation...and caught me TOTALLY off-guard.  I mean, literally, if it could, my jaw would have dropped to thud down upon the computer desk top.  From the very first running, EVERYTHING stayed crisp, roads fully formed, never to become a grey blur jag...and I'd swear there were pools and BBQ's in the back yards of some of Orbx's scenery asset content.  In fact, I have seen things that I have NEVER seen before (from Orbx) in the PNW region.

I still can say, that some shots are so breath takingly 'real' to my eyes,  like granite and basalt rock faces, cliffs, ground clutter, trees, that I think (again, only a personal opinion) totally eclipses even MSFS's cloud assets.  I could never imagine myself typing that.  I had always thought that any 'synthetic' art asset for ground terrain, homes, this, that, would always be second place, and 'it is ,..what it is...' in nature.  Now?!?!?!?   Breath taking realism is coming from that very Orbx synthetic world...and again, not to gag anybody, but with such clarity, fully formed at even 140 knots of speed towards the on coming scenery, and I mean...SCENRY...all sliders at 100 percent....that I still can not fathom what L.M DID...between the step jump from v5.1 to v 5.2 (!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???)  and how come, this 'version reveal' was not seen in v5.x ?!?!?!?

WHAT DID THEY DO, IN THE CODING??????????????

Loving it, even without my 'need to know'...being satisfied.

Right now, (and I fly all of them)--->   P3D, MSFS, XP11,  P3D is my 'go to' sim of personal choice...and that is not dissing the other two. It merely is that P3D v5.2HF is so satisfying my 'hit list' of what I need, and what I want, and the performance given on my present system.  Such a great surprise and 'gift' from L.M.  Final comment....P3D is CERTANLY not dead on my system, and that means that if Orbx still will support it with new and of 'personal interest'  releases, like for instance Canadian/USA East Coast regionals...they indeed will be supported by my purchasing of them. For sure!  Orbx..did you just read that?   My C.C. is ready for the East Coast Regionals from Nova Scotia, right down to the State of Atlanta. I already have T.E. Florida....

    Get crackin'.... :) "

    CityScene Charleston, S.C....now only for P3D v4.x

Only the sound of crickets as to a proper porting over to run in v5.2...and my actual question in the support section for P3D has been unanswered.  Orbx...will this product be ported over for use in P3D v5.2?

    O.F.

Still Crickets from anybody from Orbx....   Can I please get a yes or no, regarding a porting over to P3D v5.2 HF1?  It would be appreciated, just to know to expect this, or be done with asking.  Thanks.

  10. From a lot of reading of what present system owners, might or might not do, when it is released, I feel that there are very many present system owners (that can't run XP11 because lack of the Security Chip onboard their present M.B., and have no intention (as I...) of going out to update a perfectly running system under a W10 M.B. merely to acquire it.

Therefore, I predict that when M.S. sees the very low adoption rate/uptake (if that,...of course..) but if they do, that they will create a version of W11, that can run on current W10 systems, to swell the adoption rate.  Nobody really knows from a flight simulation 'interest' , if in fact anything that comes with W11, will very much ramp up the experience.  That alone, would be a factor for low adoption amongst our crowd. We'll all have to wait and see, but if they do come out after-the-fact with a version that WILL update without the present conditions for such, I'll bite then.

Personally, they want to push you to that Security Chip...but,   we'll see how many actually adopt W11 under that requirement, that do NOT have the chip, or can not install the chip even if wanting to do so, on their present system, that runs their flight sims just fine.

  11. You took great screen grabs that go further to show off just how different and amazing P3D v5.2 HF1 truly is.  I still have no clue as to how L.M. pulled this off as a 'step up version number, and not as a major rewrite of such as putting out P3D 6.x.  So...why could they not have released THIS version as the R.T.M. v5.x?!?!?   I just smile over stuff like that...and I'm sure others do as well, if they even think along those lines...

  12. Looks really nice, Bull.  The elements, road, shoreline, rock faces, are well formed and no past version(s) blurriness. Good go! Seems like you, myself and many others around the world are taking a renewed interest and more than casual re-use (their flight simming time) of the P3D franchise.  I know that I certainly am. I fly it every day...
