Thank you all for your answers and reactions.

Still I would like to get back to my original posting and the question whether this statement from the REX developers is true:

"There have been some staffing changes at Orbx from what we understand. This is creating some delays and we are at the mercy of their timeline. Remember, if you have AccuSeason already, you do not have to wait for Orbx to get the product."

I would like to know if Orbx can confirm this or if this is just an excuse from REX why this is taking so extremely long. Other vendors have got the product available since weeks.

As an ex-Orbx staff member, I can confirm that it's not an excuse by REX.

Yes one can specify airline codes, at least plenty other devs have done it. I'm surprised to read you say it's not possible? Can you elaborate on why this wouldn't work at KSMF?

The adding of codes to gates is not documented in the SDK and all developers are relying on the technique used for FSX/P3D. So it’s not a guarantee it will all work 100%.

Regardless, Matteo has assigned the codes to the two terminals now.

I bought Orbx EGLC v1 on the Aerosoft store (can't remember why I didn't use the Orbx store, think I had a voucher left for Aerosoft).  How do I go about upgrading to V2?

Aerosoft will be replicating the upgrade discount in their store. This should be available this coming Monday/Tuesday.

It is one of my favorite small ones

I requested it and finally Pyreegue made it

Currently all the terrain around Tivat morphs, no matter where you look, it does.

Your version seems better, fresh. It is very possible that I'll do the exchange

    Carlos

Hi Carlos, the terrain in the area unfortunately still morphs and we have seen this in other parts of Europe, eg. around Bern. If not already done so, maybe upvote this nasty bug here.

UKKM Antonov-2 (Hostomel) is the Ukrainian home of the Antonov Design Bureau, and the one and only Antonov AN-225. As such this is no typical commercial airport. Antonov-2 is home to some of the most eccentric Antonov aircraft designs and has been a base for transport, special flights and testing since it’s inception!

From the 24th February 2022, the airport was heavily damaged as part of the invasion of Ukraine. The Battle of Hostomel saw the devastation of the hangars and the mighty AN-225, amongst many other historic and current Antonov aircraft parked on the main taxiways. Not to mention nearby areas of Hostomel.

This recreation of UKKM is designed to honour the lives lost at Hostomel Airport and indeed the legacy of the AN-225 and it’s sister craft.

I have painstakingly re-created all of the Antonov Aircraft based at Hostomel Airport (and some that weren’t!). From the high engine mounted AN-74, to the little AN-2 historical workhorse; from the mighty breadth of the AN22 and it’s enchanting navigation windows, to the marvel of engineering that is the AN-225 – all of this craft are a piece of Ukrainian and Antonov history, and you can experience them all now, in Microsoft Flight Simulator!

The Antonov designs hold a magic curiosity - a unique aesthetic – very much different to the western designs of the era. For me these represent the spirit of Antonov design and the greater Hostomel. And I hope you enjoy experiencing the Airport as it always should be.

10% of the net proceeds of sales will go toward the rebuilding effort for this aircraft.

  6. The sim applies snow according to the colour of the underlying material. The darker the material, the less snow. Those apron sections are lighter in colour hence them appearing as such.

Finn darkened those area as much as possible with trying to stay as close to the real-life colouring as possible.

This is something that Asobo should really look at again.

    Hello Ed,

thanks for looking into this, however your assumption is incorrect.

The remark for TDZ lighting on the charts refers to where the lights are located AT, not how long they are running for from the threshold. Simple TDZ lighting does not run along the runway, these are simply a pair of lights on each side of the runway centreline.

Chapter 5.3.14 in ICAO Doc Annex 14 describes simple TDZ lighting in detail, but here's the relevant illustration that summarises things perfectly:

    Screenshot2023-03-01at02_55_01.thumb.png.7f9ef00ad1df8b3a64e8a51860924ac5.png

So as you can see, just 4 lights for each runway landing direction. 4 lights for RWY14 and 4 lights for RWY32, located at the distance published in the charts.

If the SDK does not allow for these lights, and you're unable or unwilling to do custom lighting, then I suggest to simply DISABLE the Asobo TDZ lighting, as having no TDZ lighting turned on is a much more realistic scenario compared to having a huge carpet of lights that simply does not exist on the real runway.

Let me know if you need further info, I'd be happy to help. Also if you require lighting information out of the Swiss AIP publication I can send them over.

    Cheers,

    Markus

Thanks Markus, that makes sense and should be easy to implement.

Looking good so far, I'm very interested in getting this.

However, I do hope that the developer will have another good look at the runway lights. The real runway is equipped with simple TDZ lighting only, which is completely different in layout and dimension compared to CAT2/3 TDZ lighting.

We have had a look at the touchdown lights which have been added via the SDK. This is a simple checkbox to enable or disable and no other options to customise how long it runs down the runway as it appears to use a midpoint based on the runway properties.

With the displaced threshold on 14, the TDZ lights run to 635m down the runway (621m on the charts) but for 32 they run to 850m down the runway (622 on the charts). So for 14 it works OK but not for 32.

I'm assuming that is what is being referred to with the TDZ lighting remark.

"This update adds a mitigation that reduces the odds of stumbling upon that bug until MSFS gets fixed in the next Sim Update"

So...fundamentally it has not been fixed, but probability of CTD was decreased

    Fundamentally, yes I suppose.

Asobo are addressing the bug in SU12
