Hey Nick, I have supported Orbx for the past 13 years, with hundreds of addons. Like many others I have seen how the company has changed. Some would argue not for the better. Anyone in business should accept and appreciate any kind of feedback about their service or products, whether it's positive or negative. Negative comments are not always welcome, but they should be accepted and acted on accordingly to improve the business. At the end of the day, I simply said what I have heard from many simmers, that customer care is somewhat lacking to how it used to be. Take it how you wish Nick, as I said, just sayin.
But your commend above was not a constructive criticism but it was only sarcastic and totally unnecessary.

Since I was absent from simming for a week this update might have been a few days old. Any ideas what its purpose was?
BTW, this was already the second not announced update (at least I haven't recognized any notification) I experienced after SU10.

Maybe the master himself, @Holger Sandmann, can help.

Help me understand this. I can but a 55" Samsung curved 4K smart TV for US$497. Why the price difference for the "gaming" monitor. Something just doesn't add up here.
You can't rotate the $497 monitor like you can the giant one. It's just like a giant smart phone.
And I could imagine that it also has got an interactive touch screen and can be used like a white board. But that's just a sispicion.

Why not just going to Orbx.direct?
There is a list of all the special offers:

No performance hits, but for some reason taxiing aircraft sometimes spin around. Once, twice before continuing on their way or they just sit there and spin. Anybody else see this?
In the above video Jon has linked, it is shown, how to set the time for how long you want to tolerate this odd behavior, until the aircraft in question will be automatically eliminated. You can set the tolerating time in the injector where you also set all the other values.. So no need to take action during simming.

True but in November, the helicopters make their official entrance in the sim.
Helicopters are often landing on rooftops, landing pads and free space in big cities.
PG is not suitable for this type of flying.
That depends in large part on your bandwith and of course also on your pc specs and your settings.
I made the experience that lowering my graphic settings on my ancient system improved the looks of pg.
And when all of the others in the family are streaming videos when I am simming, the quality of pg will decrease.

VRAM...
Do you really mean VRAM (virtual RAM)? Or do you mean video RAM?

Statics are generally way better looking than any AI planes (no matter if dedault or if created by an add on) or models used by any online network.
PS: There is a huge demand for statics. Just have a look at flightsim.to. There are literally hundred mods for download offering static planes at airports all over the world.

I just downloaded the update and I can see a difference in my fps. I'm averaging between 70-80fps at the moment. I'm impressed.
70 - 80 fps? I guess in outside view of the default C152 at 10,000 feet in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with clear skies.

Aerobatics are the hardest to master, but choppers... the same but loads of fun once you get the hang of it.
My favorite recording I did with the SA Lama flown in FSX (2011).
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I gave it a thumbs up on YouTube. And excellent flying skills you have.

Taildragger racing and/or aerobatic birds like the Extra 300.
I have problems slowing them down for landing (which is bumpy most of the times) and then holding the centre line, the more in heavy winds.

Agreed Wolfko in respect of the latter two mentioned which are currently fully operational airports however I would assume, perhaps mistakenly, that most simmers would know that Tegel is no longer operational and therefore navdata will not be available.
I see your point, but there is a Kai Tak product on the market (at least for another sim) which has the necessary navdata included.

Hello,
the purchase of the model of a closed airport is a delight to some and a disaster to others.
Meigs Airport in Chicago closed in a blaze of publicity in 2003 and yet there is still demand
for a model of it, even in MSFS.
I think it is highly unlikely that it would appear in any "FMS database" either.
It is not a secret that Tegel airport closed in 2020 and it should be no surprise to find that
it is no longer in a database.
Please submit a support ticket and a refund will be considered.
Yes but flying VFR into Meigs was quite common, which was not for Tegel.
The Gaya Tegel is representing an airport like it was, when it still existed, incl. static aircraft, approach lights etc. So IMO also the navdata of this past time has to be included.
If I had bought Tegel (which I haven't) I also would have expected to have applicable (retro) navdata included. Otherwise the purchase of such an airport really does not make much sense. It is actually not much work for a developer to include obsolete navdata in his product. Kai Tak has got it.
All the promo pics and the video on the Orbx product site arouse the impression that this is a fully operational airport of the past.

Not if you are flying GA. Not everyone flies solely in the big tin and to have an airport almost in the middle of a major city is a major plus for GA fliers.
I think the production of airports like EDDT, KJFK, EGLL etc. is not really aiming at VFR flyers.
-
Maybe Orbx should place a warning on the EDDT product page saying something like "Note: For this airport are no nav data available" or the like. This just would be fair.

What was yesterday's small MSFS update about?

Thank you @paulb
After I posted the above I did a flight and approx. half an hour into the flight all gound textures incl. runways got totally blurred out. Pausing the sim and standing at the apron for 30 minutes did not help. I hope this is not a side effect of the update. As I am typing MSFS is restarting. Hopefully everything is working again.
