Yes, the ground imagery does not change, but the autogen vegetation does chanfe in the P3d versions of TE sceneries AFAIK. I can't verify this though, because when TE came out I had already moved to XP and now exklusively use MSFS.

Thanks for the clarification, wolfko.  I don't own any TE products, so I can't comment about autogen vegetation changing or not.

Actually, TE does an OK job of simulated spring, summer, and fall because the vegetation, trees and so forth, change colors.  You can see that in some of the images I have posted.  What TE doesn't display is winter ground textures in other words, snow and ice.  However, if you have the Orbx regions you can get all the seasons including areas where there is native P3D scenery.  So if I want snow and ice I can fly in the regions or native P3D areas.  I have not invested in MSFS yet so I don't know how it handles seasons.

Truthfully, that's not how I understand how the TE scenery works.  It's a once only snapshot of the area in question, dependent on when the photo was taken.  That seems to be the feedback that I have read, anyway.

    Thank you John!

Guess I should've searched first :) SO from what I'm reading it sounds like TE is the updated version of the region.

Robert, TE uses photoreal scenery, the regions use landclass scenery--two different display methods.  TE scenery doesn't change with the seasons, the landclass regions do.

Hi Folks. Quick question--I have tried getting the PNG Emo Mission freeware. It downloads and installs  and appears in the Scenery Library just below the Orbx Library, but does not appear in the actual program place-selection list or on the map. This is true for both FSX Steam and P3D4. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hey, Rodger.  I believe you have to go out and find those airstrips.  There was at one time a google map or kmz file of their locations, but off hand I don't know where that is located on the Orbx site.  Perhaps someone knows where to find it.

The newly released MK Studios scenery for Ponta Dekgada ( LPPD) that is being sold in the Orbx store can anyone tell me if it’s compatible with P3D version 4.5 ?

    Many Thanks

It appears to be for v5 only, per the product page information.

  6. The file in question is this:  FTX_VECTOR\FTX_VECTOR_APT\scenery\APT_LPPT.bgl.  If this file is not turned "off", then when using SimStarterNG to start a flight at Lisbon, SimStarter does not list the correct starting positions, even though P3Dv4.5's starting positions are listed correctly, and I have "refreshed" the airports using SimStarter's airport refresh tool.

Any comments from SimStarter users or perhaps an Orbx Central expert are welcome.

    Thanks.

    Hi

I also just noticed I have my Land and Sea Traffic settings in P3D turned down to 5%, if I turn them up I also do get the road traffic on Bravo.

Also, have you contacted the airport developers support?

I'm not really inclined to turn those settings down that low.  Will look forward to whatever FSimStudio's has to say.

I am using Vector, so I am not sure that is the difference between us, but I believe Stew is also using Vector, and he has the same issue.

Yes, I am using Vector.  And the last time I looked, I didn't have the snow mounds, even those two files are still "on".  Strange that Jon is experiencing this.

    Hi Stew

Take a look at this thread:

    https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/491556-installing-tongass-fjords-x-prepar3d-v3-v4/

    Hopefully that helps.

Looking over Poppet's instructions for installing Tongass Fjords, it certainly looks like a re-install is needed.  My upgrade to P3Dv4.5 hf3 (a complete one, that is), resulted in a default terrain.cfg (of course), so no Tongass Fjords entries were there.  Thanks for the tip, and I'll slog through the re-installation.  Since I've done it before, it shouldn't be too bad.

  10. Hi, Mike.  Thanks for the tip.  I may have to reinstall Tongass Fjords, but will check.

Edit to add:  I'm going to do a re-install, since with the recent upgrade to P3Dv4.5, the terrain.cfg was completely new, with no Tongass Fjord entries.

Thanks, Greg.  Yes, I do.  Guess I'll check RTMM first.

@gregmorin Greg, Can you point me to right discussion at the RTMM forums?  I looked around but was unable to find what might be a solution.  The problem is definitely with the Tongass Fjords entries.  When I disable them in the scenery.cfg, there is water where there is supposed to be.  Also, the borderline where the land anomaly begins is exactly on the border where the PFJ region ends, that is, the western-most boundary of PFJ which buts up against the eastern boundary of Tongass Fjords.

  12. Hi, Doug.  Thanks for the feedback.  I'll try both and see what happens.  The terrain problem I encountered involved solid land being where water should be.  This was around the border between PFJ and SAK.  Will post any results--I can't help but think the problem is a result of the upgrade to v4.5 hf3, but why that would be so, I don't have a clue.
