  1. The price is 16.92 + 27.08 AUD = 44 AUD plus whatever taxes. both packs are required to have shipping. That's why people are taking a hard look at what you actually get for that cost.
  2. Interesting... it does confirm my suspicion that they only have 5 ( large ) ships models that'll you'll see 1000s of times. Aside from not really being able to see the populated marinas from a useful distance in the Channel Islands demo - the thing that instantly killed it for me, was seeing the same cargo ship model 6 times within a 20km area. Also, the argument about using high-poly models.... at least the way I fly - I'm looking at the ships from 0.5 nm away or more - I'd prefer low poly efficiency and variety ( esp regional variety ) I thought Henrik's subtle dig on them using Turbosquid models was kinda funny... then I got curious... Product Screen $30 Turbosquid model https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-model-cargo-container-ship-300m-1475530 Also... floatplane wake on a cargo ship?
  3. are there any notes for what was updated on Okavango? or just SU5 compatibility? thx!
  4. I was intrigued by their original idea, but after checking out the demo and realizing that it was 5-6 of the same static cargo ship model copy/pasted and the populated marinas weren't noticeable, unless you flew directly over it, and looked straight down... in 3rd person. Some of the animated boats were nice - but not enough to keep it. Demo was uninstalled in 30 minutes. I never understood the model of "paid scenery for very specific marinas and small regional areas", but maybe it's just me. I like the Orbx City sceneries and have a bunch of them... and honestly, you fly through them a couple times right after you first buy it - then never again - but at least you can see it from whatever major airports are nearby. You get a proper accurate skyline that doesn't turn into mushy triangles And their priced well. Making leisure boats work globally would be interesting, though, if priced right...
  5. on a side note - have you ever noticed "leisure boats" in MSFS? You'd see them in FSX/P3D - but I can't say that I've ever noticed them in MSFS. I know they have models in the SDK... I do have that slider set to 5 or 10 - but I can't remember ever seeing any
  6. 2 dependent packages, at $30 for what Henrik's Global AI Shipping has been doing better for years with over 1000 custom ship models? ( also being updated to native/PBR models, night lighting and wakes ). Why not global river traffic, or something that already hasn't been done well? Global AI Trains would be huge!
  7. Had a significant perf boost after SU5. 1080Ti 12gb vram, running at 4k with a mix of ultra, high and off. Seeing a roughly 20-25% increase. Much smoother in general, and I was able to fly the 787 out of LAX, with about 40 other players in the area... and fog. It was smooth enough that I wouldn't complain ( 25-30 ) The bad - texture draw-in is much more noticeable as well as LODs. I assume the servers are getting crushed right now and that would account for some of the noticeable pop-in. You noticed the lower res textures more at altitude, when in 3rd person. Cockpit view looks better, but the texture pop-in is pretty noticeable when you're descending.
  8. Totally understand - I'm working on a small airport with a water runway ( literally a 1m deep ditch filled with water ) and working with the terrain system on that has been challenging... I'm having to blend edge geo with the underlaying terrain to get the right look. BTW - still seeing some odd issues with the windsock at the 16R end - I know it was addressed in the first patch, but when I first spawn at the airport it's floating like before, after flying around the area for a while and coming back into land - it's on the ground at the correct height. IDK Thanks!
  9. Hi Matteo - good news about LODs! I'm really enjoying the scenery as well ( 14 years flying there IRL )... any chance of sneaking in the Sherman Way tunnel / underpass? It's one of the only unique features that's noticeably missing. I know it's not trivial to add - but it'd be a nice addition.
  10. Same here - I loved South Tahoe for P3D, with the Heavenly and Stateline scenery, and hoping that gets ported to MSFS sooner rather than later, but Truckee would be a great addition w Northstar nearby.
  11. Airside patio dining @ 94th Aero Squadron... fond memories of their beer cheese soup and listening to ATC piped in during dinner
  12. great shots! KVNY was my home base for 14 years, got to hang in the tower when they still were doing Operation Raincheck.... I've been looking forward to a solid rendition for any platform for 15+ years This is looking excellent!
  13. oh hell yes.... who do I throw my money at? been waiting for a good VNY for a long, long time.
  14. +1 on this... it's been happening for quite a while... I always select 15 for take-off, as that's almost always the preferred departure RWY and always get put on 08, which is the preferred landing RWY I doubt that has anything to do with the issue - but Burbank uses different runways for T/O and landing most of the time.
  15. I'm really looking forward to Monterey and South Tahoe, as well! Truckee would be a great addition to the Orbx library, too.
  16. @Ken Hall - great stuff! congrats happy to see the heliport at Avalon included as well
  17. Awesome - I figured.... The 2 screens showing the runway were at an angle that's really hard to tell The additional scenery for Avalon looks great!
  18. Can't wait for this one! Two things... In the next round of screens, can you show off the runway slope? Double check the image title/watermarkk Looking great!
  19. Just going to throw this out there and call it a day... since this is becoming "safari flying" and not just about Okavango.... and this is more than I ever post Kilimanjaro to Serengeti, mid-morning HTAR > HTNF no add-ons except the repaint. epic flight. Kilimanjaro looked amazing w morning light, Lake Empakaai ( crater lake ) and descending into rain storms for landing at Fort Ikoma.
  20. I've been having fun with the X Cub bush mods... floats and tundra tires. Textures could be better on the floats, but oh well... https://www.bushleaguelegends.com/addons/msfs/msfs-aircraft Yeah, there's a few missing strips in the pack and in the game - I was kinda thinking about adding them in - as the texture / location is there in the scenery. Matching the names to the map was a little tricky - as MSFS doesn't always have the same name either. I didn't validate the ICAO codes here, but in the area I am, currently, IRL - 70% of the MSFS ICAO codes are wrong. Repainting: Basically, I downloaded someone else's Mack Air paint Mack Air N842JT ยป Microsoft Flight Simulator opened up the: CESSNA_208B_GRANDCARAVANEX_AIRFRAME_BODY_ALBD.PNG.DDS file in Photoshop ( requires the nVidia developer plugin to export DDS ) located in: Community\Asobo_208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX_MACKAIR\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX-A2-OKA\TEXTURE.A2OKA painted out the existing tail number on a separate layer ( above the original ) used the text tool to add the correct tail number ( with the closest font and color possible ) flatten all the layers, then export using the DDS tool. there are other ways, using free tools - but this is how I've been doing it... ( just FYI - the paths and file names shown here are after I renamed the files and folder structure to what I wanted, but it's the same idea ) I did a bunch of additional cleanup and rework on the logos with sharper sources + added some decals and markings, per reference photos. nVidia exporter is here: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-exporter ( I think you need a free account ) This is what you'll be looking at:
  21. I don't regret it at all - but I'm also not totally blown away. The strips look good and when you see the animals moving - it looks pretty cool. The terrain looks pretty solid - although I don't remember what it looked like as default - some of the default areas away from the Okavango also look good ( Kalahari ). They spent a lot of time on detailing the camps but I've only seen one ( without deliberately looking for them ). I think you pretty much need to drone cam ( or helicopter ) over to them to see any of the detail ( which looks like a ton of effort from the trailer video ). But they're just not something you'd noticed during normal flying. It'd be great if MSFS eventually gets wet / mud properties + VFX and make flying into the strips more challenging... also a variety of roughness to the dirt strips would be cool as well - there's not much challenge to landing there right now. It would have been cool if Simworks could have added behavior to the animals to react to your plane ( ie scatter if you fly low ) or create random wildlife hazards on the runways. ( animals crossing occasionally and forcing a go around ) Stumbling across the Mack Air stuff made it a lot more real / interesting for me. I didn't realize how close the Kalahari and Victoria Falls were to the Okavango. This also encouraged me to start looking into Tanzania ( Serengeti / Kilimanjaro ) flights / safaris as well - Coastal Air has that covered and I'm checking out some of the areas right now.
