Incredible effort on YMML. I love it so much.
However my only one gripe is that with FSLTL AI Traffic heavy international carriers are always spawning up at the heavy gates in the Qantas Domestic terminal.
I think this could be due to the sim's AI parking limitations however it would be great if there could be an option provided to disable those gates or make their radius smaller so that it appears more realistic and only Qantas aircraft occupy those spots. The gates specifically are C11 and C3 (I think).

I don't think LOD 400 is a viable option for any PC on the market at the moment. If this could be flagged with developers in case there is a way to fix it for the upcoming update that would be great.

OK I noticed that when I put Terrain LOD at 400 the issue goes away. Can I ask, is the LOD update for Landmarks Melbourne going to cover both terrain mesh and objects?

Not quite sure what you mean. If you mean some objects pop into view at that distance then it's pretty normal, because if all objects out to the horizon appeared together the sim would crawl or even crash.
There will be some work on the LODs for Melbourne undertaken, which might help, but there will always be limits on what can be displayed in the distance.
Hi John,
Thanks for the reply.
Perhaps this screenshot better demonstrates the issue if you make it full screen. Are you able to reproduce the problem? It's not the buildings per se, but the actual terrain mesh.
I've not seen this anywhere other than Melbourne and it goes away when disabling the scenery. I definitely don't think it's normal.

Hi all,
I'm having the following issue with Orbx Landmarks Melbourne. The terrain coastline looks to be bugged near the Port Melbourne, Docks and West Gate area when approaching from a distance.
Disabling Landmarks Melbourne resolves the problem.
Is this a bug?
PS: I use MSFS with Photogrammetry disabled.

Radio silence from Orbx lately. I can't believe we're still waiting for YMML 3 years after release of MSFS

Anthony - I doubt that Orbx will do another YBCG - unless they want to port their version of the P3D cityscape
and to replace the 9 year old Bing that is still used in the sim
there is a very good payware version - that is up to date on the SimMarketplace
I tried it. It's performance is abysmal.
Definitely needs Orbx treatment.

Seeing it was posted in the 2022 roadmap it's not unreasonable to think it would be a 2022 product and be released this year. But given the silence from Orbx I think it's doubtful that we'll see it this year.

I'm also interested in the progress of this

My comment has nothing to do with the lead developer. I hope he is well. The problem lies with Orbx.
Orbx announced development of this nearly 2 years ago and said that phase 1 was in testing back in early 2021. A year and a half later and no news at all.
I'm guessing that Orbx is unwilling to put any more development resources towards openLC for FSX/P3D, which they could do if it was a priority, but it's not.
IMO 2 years is an unreasonable amount of time to complete this project.
The fact that Orbx is unwilling to provide any details at all about its status is not only a bit bizarre, but also telling. I question whether it will even come to fruition.
Dave
The CEO of Orbx mentioned that OpenLC Asia was part of the 2022 roadmap. Pretty sure we'll see it release eventually.

Amazing how far we've come

Photogrammetry is pretty bad for me but I figured it was probably because I'm on 50Mbps NBN in Australia. Flying around any PG city is just a sea of geometry for me unfortunately so I have to switch it off or consider upgrading my internet connection.
-
I wouldn't count on YPPH seeing the light of day. The developer hasn't been active on the forum for over a year.

Is the YMML project mentioned targeting P3D and MSFS?
-
I turn photogrammetry off as well. Unfortunately my 50mbps connection struggles to keep up and I prefer to see actual structures rather than obscure polygons.
However even with photogrammetry off the buildings look very well represented in shape, size and color. When upping the terrain LOD everything is very crisp. The algorithm works very well.

Great work nonetheless Frank. Been waiting years for a Sydney scenery like this!

You can turn off about half of the CityEngine buildings in the configuration panel anyway. However, this mainly concerns industrial buildings, warehouses, etc.
Maybe I'll expand the options so that all - or at least many more - CE buildings can be turned off.Hey Frank - actually after some further testing - disabling the dynamic lighting spotlight effects on the Sydney Harbour Bridge made a significant reduction in stutters for me. This was maxing out my GPU.

Agree! Although strangely I have stuttering.
Determined it's exclusively caused by the City Engine buildings. Removing those (files with "CE" in the naming convention) fixed it for me. Still epic even without the City Engine buildings.

When was the last update from Orbx about LC Asia with screenshots? Last year?

Looks wonderful!

Hi Orbx Team,
I just wondered - is the Sydney CityScene for P3D still being worked on and hopefully targeted for release this year? I do recall seeing it on the roadmap and I've been eagerly awaiting it.
I think @Ed Correiais often across this.
Thanks!

Resizing the textures for both YMML and Melbourne city made a huge improvement for me without a significant quality reduction in my opinion.
Research the method used to resize the FSLTL textures using TextureOptimizer and apply the same process to both sceneries. I think I resized Landmarks Melbourne to 1024x1024 and YMML's to 2048x2048 (apart from the ground polygons which I instead converted to DXT1 and kept at 4096x4096). Made the area much more usable for me.
