  1. I've just experienced this frustrating problem too. In the UK. I downloaded the C172 sound set (20Mb) and it took 15 minutes, with speeds of 10-30 kilobytes per second. It's just unusable for anything larger. This has literally forced me to buy the last few products from other retailers. Minutes before buying the BAW 172 soundset, I was downloading from MSFS Marketplace at 170-280 MBPS ! I was having this same problem 3-4 months ago and it caused me to not buy from Orbx Central for a few months - today was the 'test day' to see how it would go. This has got to be impacting your revenue stream.
  2. Firstly, I tried to find a forum section dedicated to Orbx Central, but it was read only. Orbx Central was for years my preferred retailer. However, about 4 months ago I started getting ridiculously slow download speeds and thus haven't used it since then. Today, I thought I'd give it another try and purchased the Boris Audio Works C172 sound set. It is 20Mb in size. Let me say that immediately before purchase this, I have just downloaded the latest MSFS update, which downloaded at an average speed of 170Mbps. I have a very high speed broadband and connection, here in the UK. I purchased the C172 sound set at 20Mb and the highest speed I had from Orbx Central was 30 kbps ...... kilobytes! The problem is 100% not at my end. I have looked at the downloader options in Orbx Central. All seems to be set up logically, there was nothing I could find that would lead to these speeds that are many hundred times slower than I get from any other download source (inc. MSFS, Just Flight, Simmarket, etc, etc). What on Earth could be causing this? As it is, for a 20Mb product to take around 15 minutes to download, I would not dare download anything larger. I have been purchasing from Orbx since 2008. I want to buy products from you but cannot with these insanely slow speeds. Can you offer any help?
  3. I recall in early 2020 having a nightmare trying to download any of my products from Orbx Central, due to Connection Interrupted, Retrying... problems. Today, I'm on my 3rd day of trying to download any of my products from Orbx Central. When I begin a download, all starts ok. Then, after around 2 minutes, Connection Interrupted begins to appear... at first it appears every 10 seconds or so, but things worsen and eventually, I have Connection Interrupted almost constantly, with only sporadic moments where downloading (at very slow speeds) actually happens. What concerned me most, was on discovering that the "manual download" option for regions/True Earth products has been removed. It therefore seems utterly impossible for me to download my products. For info, I'm in the UK, and have no issues with my high speed fibre optic broadband connection. I know this was a problem in 2020, but it is most certainly still a problem in June 2021, so thought it best to point this out. I'm pulling my hair out - to reiterate, this has been going on constantly, day and night, for 3 days. Would appreciate any help, as I am completely unable to access my extensive Orbx products portfolio. Thanks.
  4. No that definitely won't work. I kept the boxed version of FSX installed on my PC, and then installed FSX:SE afterwards. All of the FTX Global, Vector, etc installers that I have run, have automatically located FSX:SE in it's correct location ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX ) without me having to do anything. I haven't gotten around to installing FTX England yet though, to check that. When you run the FTX England installer, and see the old (MS) path, is there a 'browse' button or icon that would allow you to manually browse to the FSX:SE location, that I've quoted above? Because that should work as an alternative. I've read a couple of posts on other forums that suggest that, ironically, addons are installing into FSX:SE easier and more smoothly on PCs that have FSX:SE installed after but alongside, the original boxed FSX. I know the registries are handled differently, and even the FSX.CFG has different names according to whether you only have FSX:SE installed (in which case it installs as FSX.CFG), or have original FSX installed as well (in which case it installs as FSX_SE.CFG). Hope you get sorted.
  5. Yes, the cost of living in general is horrendous in the UK now - not just credit crunch related! ..... it's been between £3 and £4 for a pint of beer in the 'towny' bars for quite a long time now. Last week, I ordered a Vodka Mojita in one bar in Newcastle ....... it was gorgous, fresh mint leaves, etc, etc, but it cost almost SEVEN QUID !
  6. Hey Teecee - a Geordie indeed! ...... (although I now get some strife from my mates for living 'down south' - I'm now in Durham, 15 miles south of Newcastle! ). I often wondered whether the good people pf Newcasle, NSW are Geordies as well ? ....... if not they should be ! Newcastle Brown Ale ain't quite what it used to be but it can still catch you out ...... it's not strong in Alcohol % but more than 4 bottles seems to have something of a psychotic effect !! David
  7. Great thread - very interesting to read about everyone! Forum Name: David Rogers Other Forum Names: The-GPS-Kid, Pro-Sim, Davros, Astradan Real Name: (surprisingly) David Rogers Bio: I'm 36 and was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North East England. After School and College, etc, I worked for 10 years for a government security agency in the UK. I left this career on health grounds after developing Type 1 Diabetes (I inject 4 times daily). After leaving that career, I got into Business Operational Management, running sites in the Mobile Phone, Travel and Insurance industries in the UK. I became bored of dealing with the same people issues (!!!), so 6 years ago I trained and became a Project Manger. I work for a large global insurer now and I'm multi-disciplined : I work on various types of major projects and programmes from technology (recently managed a telephony tranformation to VoIP for 10,000 staff), to business reorganisation and offshoring. I have travelled a lot in my latest role, including 3 visits to India recently. I am married to my wonderful wife Sarah, and have a gorgous 7 month old daughter. I also have a 9 year old daughter from a previous relationship, who comes and stays with us at weekends. And of course, theres Denver, our dog and my best mate ! I am have been simming for many years and in 2007 I built a 737NG cockpit, mainly from fly engravity parts. great fun but I missed the versatiliyt of being able to fly in various aircrafts! So I dismantled the cockpit and now fly with a large monitor, yoke, pedals, throttles, GF radios, switches and panels, but essentially generic. I am currently enjoying GA flying more than the heavy complex airliners that I used to enjoy. I am an AVSIM Staff Review (I completed the Coffs Harbour Review) and I also self published my first novel late last year - A children's fantasy fiction piece. My travel dream is to visit a number of places in Oz and then to hop over to NZ.... I speak English, Spanish, a little German, and a little Sakart (Georgian). I want to thank John V and the team for giving us FTX - it is a life improving assett !! Best, David.
