  1. I will be purchasing this to round out the collection. Planning on about another good year of P3D and then it's probably on to a more mature MSFS by 2022.
  2. +1 FSX like FS9 just refused to die and soldiered on for well over a decade. Now there is XP & P3D that are still in their youth, relatively speaking - but here comes the reincarnation of the FS series. Now I am slowly coming to realization that P3D v4 is going the way of the dodo now. From one point, I get it. As a developer, you don't have to spend time/energy working on photoreal imagery to surround the airports - that is largely built in, from what I gather. Now you can focus on the ground materials and 3d objects. It probably saves big costs for all that imagery as well. I can understand the attraction, I really can. But damn, I am so invested in what I have, that is working. Eventually, I'll make the transition, I am sure, but I hate the realization that my favorite devs are just not that interested in my current sim anymore. Anyway, I'm done griping. Rasha, you are talented dude - love your work.
  3. Already own these - but was planning to grab Donegal at some point. Any plans to include this one?
  4. I have the one from ARMI and it is OK. I'll test it again in v4.5 Ken to see if it still works. EDIT: Works - at least it is acceptable. A few minor issues, which probably could be cured with a flatten file or an exclusion or something. A bit of shimmering textures, on the outer fence in particular. Might run some of the bgl files thru the converter tool just to see if that helps at all.
  5. This is quite possibly the most amazing thread ever on these forums... wow. I am trying to think of any Orbx fields that I've been to - grew up near many and have driven right past at least a dozen of them... but actually having visited them... hmmm. Probably just KMRY I guess. Took a few lessons there at Navy Flying Club on the north ramp. But sadly, no photos to prove it (it was back in 1988), just amazing memories. Wait - San Diego!! In 1987 I actually took a flight that originated and terminated at Orbx airports! KSAN - KMRY! well, no maybe I changed planes at LAX.... getting old, guys! And YMML Melbin… I did get down that way once. Another amazing memory - driving on the other side of the road for a week, that was worth the ticket alone.
  6. Wendy, I was fortunate to get to work with your dad a little bit on some of the projects he managed here. A couple times he even took time to visit with me on the phone, to tutor me a bit, I suppose. And yes he was a bit demanding! But always patient and always the teacher, with no shortage of encouragement. I doubt very much that he will ever be replaced around here, but his work with live on, no question.
  7. I won't make it this time, but if I had...., I'd give you all a big hug. I enjoy being a supporter. Keep it coming.
  8. Gerold, loved the tour! Let's do another one soon!
  9. Oh no. This is horrible news. I was fortunate enough to work with Neil on a few of the FTX freeware airports, and I can tell you, he was a real stickler. But always offered encouragement and ways to improve. Truly a class guy. I hate hearing this.
  10. They are probably just busy trying to get the big releases out before the holidays arrive. I would imagine we'll see this happen, if I had to guess, but maybe not right away.
  11. Huge props to Turbulent for the updates and making it P3D v4 compatible, so no complaints from me! Just a small nice to have -- one that might already be in the works, in fact, and that prompted my question.
  12. I saw that Turbulent is making their 2O3 Angwin-Parrett Field product freeware. I paid for it, which is fine, as I understand all those proceeds go to charity. My question if Turbulent/ORBX will make this available in FTX Central... I love having these products available for install that way. Just so much easier. Hard to expect Turbulent to expend a ton of effort on something like that, particularly now that the product is free, but it sure would be nice.
  13. Visby was a great choice. Amazing the work that must have gone into this 3-pack.
  14. Is there a Google Earth KLM file that has all these FTX Global airports plotted on the map? I used to have this done myself, had it all current, but then I had to replace a drive or something, and I lost a few files. EDIT: Got it, thanks Larry -- was able to download that file as a KML and open it in GE. All good now!
  15. Mr Emms, you should have posted your specs here in one of the posts -- maybe in another ten years we'll all look back again on this thread and laugh at TODAY'S hardware specs!
  16. Maurizio I also started with this. Remember the tape drive? It would take like 15 - 20 minutes to load a game...
  17. Ah right, I didn't think about that. We maybe we mark these down as reserve fields in case we are short one quarter.
  18. Neil, If you have gone to the trouble of repositioning these island airports in the Bahamas, I would seem as though very little effort would be required to convert them into proper FTX Global freeware airports. Most have few buildings/objects to remove/place anyway and it literally just a few minutes to do -- again, given that they are located correctly. I think a lot of people would really enjoy having these. Mark
  19. Noel, just my 2 rubles here but I think it would not be worth the effort. Neil has enough to do as it is, and there are a half-dozen guys that do these freeware airports. I have a handful in the works, and I don't mind sharing them, but I also take off on wild tangents to do some litle place that I wasn't planning to before. Plus I'm not the most talented of the bunch, by a long stretch, so my projects sometimes require a little more 'guidance' from Neil than some of the others -- the implication here is that it is very hard to say which get done and when. I will say that I have done one airport in NM already (KSRR) and I am very much interested in adding more.
  20. Another great suggestion. I have even started doing a couple in Finland -- maybe I will be allowed to join Sylvain and contribute to the FTX Global EU airport packs, but I am still learning so we will see. I would also like do a few in Spain as well as start doing some in Eastern Europe, which so far as zero representation. The main criteria for me involve availability of the objects in the ORBX libraries. If there is a very specific terminal or odd building that is central to the overall theme/flavor of the airport then it is probably not a good candidate. EFVA is one of that might work, using a combination of the plan old FSX boxes and some ORBX buildings, basically cobbling them together. Might look OK, might look pretty stupid.
  21. These are good suggestions. KDKX is on my list but it is on hold for the time being, until some global/vector issues get sorted out in that area. I was looking at KCRG the other day, looks like it is an executive airport. Those are cool. I've not tackled one yet myself but I plan to at some point. Had not considered KJQF, but I will have a look. I can say that there is an airport from NC in the upcoming pack.
  22. Sid you are easily the most polite and likeable guy ever on any flight sim forum I have been on. I really do have to find a way to get to Wales and buy you that pint. His idea is a good one about Langkawi, I suggested that in Tim & Ken's thread soliciting ideas for the next adventure area. Langkawi is one of so very many places screaming out for the ORBX treatment. Mareak, do you live nearby? Can you get photos? I'm the worst object modeller ever but I have at least learned to do basic boxes. Might be a fun self education project to learn on, if Tim & Ken are otherwise engaged.
  23. Hey Loaf, I just drove by that place last weekend (worked at the NASCAR race and was advised that would be a better way to avoid the consruction on I-35 in Fort Worth). Anyway, I am looking doing some airports here in Texas and that T67 Hicks Field was one that I tentatively 'circled'.... only thing is there are about 100-150 little hangars there, which will mean (a) a lot of work and ( potentially an FPS hit for some people. Copeland 4T2 would be a perfect selection. Meacham is about as big as anybody would even consider doing, and that is probably even a bit too large -- at least for me. Forget KDAL. Different product by different developers completely.
  24. Paul I got one brewing for you, not too far from Beaufort NC (that would be a good one also). Mark
  25. If you are referring to Fayetteville Regional, then this one is probably not going to be one that ORBX can do because of it the terminal. ORBX has jetways in the libraries but the terminal buildings would need to be just plain old default FSX. So not really sure how good that would look.
