  1. Just a note to say that v5.3 runs fine here. I mainly use the TEarth areas. v5.3 loads faster. Take care
  2. Hans: It runs fine in v5.2HF1 and in v5.3 here. What issue are you referring to? Take care
  3. FYI: I just bought the video card for $399 from EVGA. I was in their "Notification" program for about 5 months. https://forums.evga.com/New-EVGAcom-Notification-Checkout-Process-m3108092.aspx
  4. Summary: it is not worth the effort. I did the Client and Content upgrades and I am not impressed. VRAM usage is not better, I do not see any improvements, and there are issues primarily with airports. There are work-arounds with the issues that USUALLY work, but I did not have any such issues with v5.1HF1. I tried this type of upgrade as my mobile data cap is low. I mainly fly low level in GA in True Earth. My system: i7-9700, 16 GB RAM, RTX 1060 with 6 GB VRAM, 2TB SSD, Win10.
  5. Before v5.1 would quit almost immediately due to a lack of VRAM. If you have a problem area due to "inadequate" VRAM, you might try it with the HF1 patch.

  7. Misha: Thank-you. KSTS is a favorite and runs great on P3D V5.1
  8. Flyprdu: Did you do a full install or just the Client install? KPSP in my full install of P3D 5.1 is the same (excellent) as in v5.0 HF2.
  9. Sniper31: Did you run Delete Generated Files batch file per Nick's instructions? Enhanced Atmospherics is disabled in my setup. Take care
  10. Sniper31: OK, the install changed only a few of my settings, and they happen to be crucial. Fortunately, I had snapshots of my settings for v5.0 HF2, so I am practically at the same enjoyment level as with v5. BTW, I have not seen any "dark objects through the clouds" issues. Take care
  11. Sniper31: Did you run Delete Generated Files batch file per Nick's instructions? I have not done so yet. Thanks.
  12. Sniper31: My full install did not go well; did you do a full install? It looks like v5.1 is not using True Earth; are you using TEarth? Notes: I did the full install per Nick's instructions, including Sync Simulator, deleting the Prepar3D.cfg file and the Shaders folder. V5.1 shows TEarth scenery enabled. V5 HF2 was excellent.
  13. Nick: Previous post and this post are using runway 15 at KBUR with PBR disabled. Previous post Dynamic texture streaming was disabled. This post: Dynamic texture streaming is enabled. I can fly just beyond the Griffith Park area and then the "Abort" and CTD situation occurs. BTW: I have the other 4 USA TEarth programs sans any issues.
  14. Nick: Using the P3D Cessna 177 at a standstill on the runway at KBUR I get 4.3 VRAM usage just after starting P3D. If I use my joy stick to look left it jumps to 4.7 and a CTD.
  15. Nick: Thank-you for replying. Shadows are already disabled. I wonder if the PBR disable switch is not functional?
  16. Using P3Dv5 HF2, TEarth SoCal, and Nivida 1060 (6GB). If I Use KBUR or fly near Griffith Park I get a CTD when VRAM usage approaches 4.8 GB of VRAM out of 5.2 GB available. This is with all of Hollywood-Burbank config settings at off/disabled. And Dynamic texture streaming is off or on If I depart Van Nuys and turn toward the problem area I get a CTD. If I depart Van Nuys and turn away from the problem area I do not get a CTD.
  17. I just bought two Orbx items for my P3D v5 setup, and will continue to buy for P3D v5 as it is very stable, full featured, and very enjoyable. I do not have MSFS yet, and IMHO it will be more than a year before MSFS is a stable and full (?) featured product and at that point I will run MSFS on XBox X.
  18. Jason: I have both and now only use TE, and Orbx airports are fine. TE is much more enjoyable. If there are significant problems, I expect that Orbx will create updates for the airports. I just bought TE SoCal and Orbx has already updated 5 or 6 airports in that area.
  19. Website says: "The download size of this product is 5.81 GB. It uses 9.30 GB when installed. " Is that correct as some of the TE downloads are about 70GB? Take care
  20. Tony: Any word on TE So California release for P3D v5? Take care
  21. John: There seem to be so many issues & omissions with MSFS that I plan to stay with P3D v5 HF2 with the True Earth series for about a year, and then evaluate MSFS.
