  1. Another bush trip that I flew today was a flight through the Molesworth Station, the largest station (ranch) in NZ at over 1800 square kilometers in size. The route departs from Omaka (NZOM), follows the Awatere River up through an earthquake faultline and some pretty remarkable seismically generated topography, weaving through a few braided rivers until eventually reaching Hamner Springs (NZHR). This flight plan is also uploaded to worldtour.flights, along with several others that I have named the New Zealand Local Series.
  2. I don't know about you guys, but since WU6, MSFS is running smoother and looking better than ever- especially with the ability to up the value of the off screen terrain caching now. I've been enjoying some low level exploring through the mountains of New Zealand's South Island, following the Clutha River between Roxborough and Wanaka. The area is possibly lesser known than the internationally famous likes of Queenstown and Milford Sound, but just as beautiful thanks to the high res satellite ground textures combined with Orbx's NZ Mesh. The flight plan and detailed route description have been uploaded to worldflights.tour here: https://worldtour.flights/flightplans/375
  3. One of my favorite flights of late, over the Harvard Glacier with Orbx's Alaska mesh:
  4. I only found out about this trick recently, but it works for me. It seems using any of the arrow keys hide the bar when not using the no handle bar mod.
  5. Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated.
  6. Beautiful- they look like real photographs!
  7. Today I went for another VFR flightseeing adventure around the Chugach Mountains to the north east of Anchorage. The route started from Graham Strip (48AK), tracking east along the Matanuska River to the terminus of the Matanuska Glacier. Upon reaching this point, I turned south to follow the glacier up to its head climbing to 10,500 feet AMSL in order to clear the ridges of the Chugach Mountains. Crossing the saddle at the crest, a beautiful vista of the Harvard Glacier opens up, where I turned to follow its passage to the sea and innated a gentle descent down towards College Fjord in the Prince William Sound. Following the course along waterway towards waypoint SOBGE, I then turned west into Passage Canal for a landing at Whittier (PAWR) on it’s shoreline. The .PLN file from Little Nav Map is attached for anyone else wishing to recreate this flight. An alternative landing site at Girdwood (AQY) has been included due to autogen trees at the landing runway threshold at PAWR. Bing Maps satellite photo coverage isn’t the best in the area, so I suggest creating a weather theme with around 10cm snow depth to cover the areas missing photorealistic ground textures. The Orbx Alaska mesh is obviously a must for accentuating the mountainous topography in the area! IFR Graham (48AK) to Girdwood (AQY).pln
  8. You can also just push the 'up' arrow key to hide it. Nice shots!
  9. Hmmm I have the exact same contents to my PAJN folder with no other third party scenery installed for the area. I'm at a loss!
  10. Thanks guys- not an easy one to solve is it? If any of the developers are here- it would be great to know the file names of the PAJN scenery so I could perhaps do a file search for them perhaps?
  11. No airspeed indicator, no altimeter, no worries! Flying the BlueMesh Amphibious Ultralight (Available via the MSFS marketplace for less < $10) is a blast. It only cruises at a maximum of 80 km/h, so perfect for some level bush flying, skimming the tree tops and enjoying the beautiful terrain from the Orbx Alaska mesh. This morning I went for leisurely flight from Kantishna (5Z5) to Stampede (Z90) following Moose Creek River, then picked up Boundary Creek which later flows into Stampede Creek, sharing the same name as the adjacent airstrip. The ever present 20,000 peak of Denali / Mount McKinley on the horizon looked gorgeous from the open cockpit!
  12. Just mulling over this issue and feel like I am missing certain textures and models that should be part of the custom PAJN that was repotedly included with the Mesh product. As per the attached screengrab, my Orbx Alaska community folder is 6.22GB file size containing 486 Files in 28 Folders. Is this correct, or am I missing some contents? Would appreciate if others could check their folders and report back.
  13. Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed seeing them! The TIMECLIMB and TIMEAPPROACH seem to appear if you import a VFR flight plan from a third party flight planning program (such as little nav map) post sim update 5, which I'm guessing is due to a behind the scenes coding change. The only fix I have found to date is to designate the flight plan as an IFR flight in LNM prior to exporting. I don't bother with in game ATC as it is too unrealistic in my opinion, but for those who still do, you can always terminate your IFR flight plan with ATC as soon as you launch and continue under VFR as well
  14. Another day locked down with pandemic restrictions down here at the bottom of the worlds means another day that I can go exploring a far flung destination at the top of the world! This time I took the C172 amphibian in MSFS from Akhiok (PAKH), at the southern end of Kodiak Island, Alaska to Kodiak Mun (PAKD) at the northern end of the island. Along the way, I dropped into Amook Bay Seaplane Base (AK81) to drop off some supplies and pick up a group of hunters. Sim time was set to 10.30am, mid September using the ‘Coastal Winds’ theme from SoFly Weather Preset Pro. The higher definition Orbx NA Alaska Mesh really makes all the difference here, with a snow depth of 2cm set to add to the atmospherics. Flight plan file attached to the post for anyone else wishing to recreate this adventure! (The .PLN file is saved in IFR format via LitteNavMap to get rid of the annoying TIMECLIMB and TIMEAPPROACH waypoints that the sim is currently forcing.) IFR Akhiok (PAKH) to Kodiak Mun (PAKD).pln
  15. I think I just got as close as I ever will to becoming a Marvel superhero. The Touching Cloud Jetpack JW1 in MSFS is so much fun! Today the mod was updated with the ability to walk on the ground and added Autoland functionality. It certainly took me a bit of practice out in the Mojave desert to get the hang of the flight modes before braving the highrises of downtown Chicago, but man this was enjoyable! Payware scenery is thanks to Drzewiecki Design, purchased through Orbx Central.
  16. Thanks for the kind words chaps. The mesh certainly adds a whole new level of realism and enjoyment to flying within the area. Unfortunately I feel that the Bing maps source imagery is letting the state down a little with lots of the snowy mountain tops appearing discolored and yellow or green looking. I've found that manually adding just 1 or 2cm snow depth through the weather interface fixes that up nicely until we get update ground photography for the area.
  17. Having really enjoyed the Orbx NZ Mesh package, I was quick to purchase their Alaska Mesh that was released last week. Here are some first impression screens, flying between Kantishna (5Z5) and Songlo Vista (3AK3) across the Alaska Range, past the tallest mountain in North America: Denali. The route was inspired by AvAngels latest video, with the custom .PLN flight plan file available for download here for anyone wishing to enjoy the spectacular scenery: Kantishna (5Z5) and Songlo Vista (3AK3).pln (5.1 KB)
  18. Thanks again Jon- didn't even know Orbx Central was keeping a backup of all the install files locally. Cleared those out, uninstalled and reinstalled, but would you believe- still no luck. Sounds like it is only me with this issue, and after all the trouble shooting here, I still have no idea why it could possibly be.
  19. An uninstall, reinstall through OrbxCentral, followed by a system restart has not fixed the issue either.
  20. Hi Nick, tried as you said and the problem still presents. PAJN appears to be the only place in my sim world presenting such issues.
  21. Sunset over Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral (Orbx EU Great Britain Central)
  22. Thanks for the reply @Jon Clarke, I had already tried the file verification method in, so deleted the Content.xml and let MSFS rebuild it. Unfortunately the issue remains. I can't see any other North American scenery in my Community folder to cause a conflict other than Orbx airports for the Lower 48. Any further help is appreciated.
  23. Grass showing through the sealed runway and no terminal building next to the jetbridges at Juneau. I feel like I might be missing an Orbx objects library or something? The Alaska mesh product was purchased and installed through Orbx Central. Any ideas guys?
  24. Would love to see your NZWR or NZGS from Prepar3D make their way to MSFS to compliment your NZ Mesh. Just throwing it out there!
