I realize that I don't need two, but how does MSFS know t go to the ORB X Library folder rather than Community?

Whatever folder Orbx scenery installs to should be in your Addons Folder. If it installs straight in to your Community Folder just move it to your Addons folder. If you have setup Linker correctly it already knows  to look in your addons folder (where you have placed your Orbx Scenery) and then when you tick that addon in the linker the app creates a shortcut and places it in to your Community Folder. Having a shortcut in your Community Folder "tells" MSFS what to load at startup.

  2. Hi Rob, you should not get CTD from loading a few sceneries. i.e. if you were doing a cross country vfr flight stopping at say 5 airfields you should be able to safely load all those airfields without any CTD. It might depend on the type of addon. I find that nearly all older Mesh or LOD type addons can cause my system to CTD so it is important to check that those types of addons especially are compatible with the latest MSFS2020 update.

  3. Ok, sorry Doc_Z I misunderstood your issue. If you know how it works then you should already be able to answer your own query😉 Yes move any folders that are not shortcuts created by the linker across to your Addons folder (or whatever sub-folders you have made therein).

  4. You do not do any manual moving yourself. You "tell" the app the path to the  community folder and "tell" it the path to your Addon folder and the app does the rest. When you open the app it immediately looks at your Addon Folder and activates everything so in my case I then untick everything I do not need for a particular flight which cuts down load times dramatically. Once I have done this the app willonly automatically activate new addons. In my Addon folder I have created separate folders for particuar addons. In my case four fiolders titled Full Aircraft, Liveries, Scenery and Utilities and the app picks them up from the link you made to the main Addon Folder you created. The app is very intuitive. You can create any folders you want in the Addon Folder i.e. in your case you might have a folder titles Orbx TE and another Orbx extras etc etc whatever you want. This has either helped or totally confused you😄

  5. Hi Sniper, we too have a Defence Force unit whose job it is to identify remains of servicemen and women and they we are also still recovering bodies from all theatres both WW1 and WW2; this is where family DNA has proven to be invaluable. With a DNA data Base whenever remains are located most times they can be identified. Science is a wonderful thing bringing closure to many families.

  6. Once you get sorted I strongly recommend the following app from Flightsim.to   MSFS Addons Linker  makes organising and managing  all your addons from a different drive or storage point with ease. There is also a tutorial  Tutorial  but all you really have to do is tell the app where your addons are stored and where your Community Folder is and the app does the rest.  Big benefit is game starting time if you have lots of addons. i.e. I have every addon for Australia which if everything was active takes ages to load so before I do a flight I just check/tick the scenery that I want and then when finished or when starting a new flight somewhere else I just untick addon I do not want. I have even saved my scenery in separate country folders so I can locate scenery easily. Anyway just FYI. Cheers

Managed to spend a while flying around various parts of Canada. Really beginning to like this update now. I remember something Nick said a long time ago. Fly realistically at a VFR altitude of 1500ft and everything looks ok. Fly a few hundred fleet AGL then the buildings do and will look like jelly. I am happy at VFR 1500ft

Yes, Vancouver for instance looks like melted butter but then so does so much MSFS2020 city sceneries not just in Canada. Tried to taxi my 172 float plane up to the Vancouver Harbour Seaplane Base..not a pretty sight;)

  8. I too use addons linker so that I only load scenery needed for the immediate flight which saves loading time because I have so many addons. I have created my "source" folder outside the Community folder to which I install all my addons (this can be done on any drive connected to your PC which will solve your storage issue); I have called this folder "MSFS2020 Addons" (not very original I know:P) I have further created four sub folders therein named Full Aircraft, Liveries, Scenery, Utilities (but you can organise to suit) in fact I have created subfolders inside "Scenery" by country name to make it easier to locate and manage in the addons linker screen. In my case I have everything in Full Aircraft, Liveries and Utilities always ticked so that before starting MSFS2020 I just go into addons linker and tick the specific scenery that I want active. When installing addons linker (which itself can go anywhere) you will just tell it where your addons "source" are located (the program then automatically finds the files) and where your Community Folder is located. The program then just creates shortcuts in the Community Folder to the files that you want active. Trust I have now got everyone totally confused:huh:

  9. To locate seaplane bases inP3D, P3D5, X-Plane and MSFS I installed Plan-G (freeware), built the relevant data base for each sim  and then under the Map heading I limited the search (top left hand side) to FloatPlane Bases. Then in the map view you should see all the available bases at Zoom 9 (bottom left hand corner). If not visible just zoom in or out until they are.
