  4. Right at the very, very bottom of any marketing emails is a "Manage Preferences" link. At that link is an option to select the simulators that you fly. I wish to make it clear that I do not speak on behalf of Orbx, so this will only work if they use the mailing preferences when sending marketing emails. I assume because they exist they do, but just so you're aware in case you keep receiving emails related to MSFS. I unfortunately can't send you a direct link as each link is dependent on the user (i.e. if I post the URL I receive when updating preferences - you'll actually be updating my account, not yours).

  7. Hi Wayne The nomenclature stands for Scenery Animation Manager. It is a plug in that includes various animation features used by scenery developers in XPlane For example, it allows things like Jetways to be animated, hanger doors to open, etc. It comes with pre animated objects that a scenery designer can include with their scenery package or if they wish they can completely customize their package objects with SAM. It allows Orbx designers to use the package to make their sceneries come alive for us and be animated. By including it with Orbx , all the scenery designer needs to do is to refer to one of the library files in the package to create their magic for us. As far as I know, what is included in the SAM Orbx version only works with Orbx products. As you mentioned there are other packages in the market that also use SAM , but I believe that they would require the more general and complete SAM package. In other words , what is included by Orbx is customized for their products. And that's the extent of what I know about it. Cheers Pete

  10. I am enjoying the newish world of MSFS, absolutely stunning looking sim but awaiting some great tubes to fly, I also still really like flying Xplane 11 with the many addons that I have built up over time....I did have p3dv5 installed but needed to free up space and format the drive it was on, needed to move Steam and just haven't got around to reinstalling, I probably won't if I am honest... I am also looking forward to Xplane 12 whenever that comes along.......and as that matures I will probably wave goodbye to version 11...

  13. I don't even know what SAM is Wayne, so don't feel bad. Heck, as much as I know SAM is a Surface to Air Missile, but surely that is not what is being represented here....lol. Anyhow, I am at a loss more than you are. Landon

  15. After a good and long breakfast we had to check out at our hotel in Nelson and hurry on. Too late to use a car, so we went to the airport. We leaft eastbound, with Tasman Bay behind and Nelson underneath us. Following Maitai and Pelorus River... ... and passing Havelock... ... we reached Picton, with the ferry piers below, abandoned. So we went along Queen Charlotte Sound... ... and there we met the Aratere, finally. That´s the price for the long breakfast, we had missed our ship. Good that we did not pay in advance. At least we could overlook the northern peninsulas of NZSI... ... and stay in the Dornier for the hop over Cook Strait. Turning into Wellington is a nice approach as well... ... and the runway is easy to spot. Plus, it is long enough for a smooth landing. Maybe even smoother that the waves during the ferry ride... Documentation: Check.

  17. Further exploring the World Update VIII (Iberia), I take for now the airport LPPT a bit north of the town of Porto. Arriving in a Socata Trinidad 21. Orbx-partner MK-STUDIOS has fine modelled the airport and the surrounding area, hereby some screenshots of this enhanced airport-scenery:

  18. Hi all, an update for the Big Radials Grumman Goose is now available on Orbx Central. Version 1.0.2a including the hotfix for LODs. Full changelog Blank livery needed in package -Found in PaintKit folder inside aircraft folder Ski Version - GPS and transponder not displaying on the ski variant either: bug -Confirmed working now. GNS530 popout enhancement -fixed Rain on the left pilot window moves in the wrong direction -fixed misaligned hole texture on overhead strut -fixed texture problem on top of the door frame in rear bulkhead -fixed pilot figures removed from the cockpit if the pilot station weights are zeroed -Added viz based on station weight. Starters will crank the engines over with batteries off. -Added a condition checking for battery master ON Gyro Pilot Issues bug -fixed, added heading hold select and arm Position Light switch reverse of what the label suggests -Made as per blueprint. -Its a derivation of STEADY (up) OFF (middle) FLASH (down). -They probably reused the same kind of labels, removing the flash portion of it, hence, keeping the OFF position in the middle of the lable, making it "up" in our case. Gear Warning light dim bug

  19. As everyone has had the opportunity to command respond, I will close this thread. I have spoken with the developer who has informed me that he has had trouble with the current terrain profile tools to achieve a smooth runway profile plus the embankment on the edge. Regardless, he will continue to experiment with other methods. It’s also clear that customers have very different expectation levels for scenery. The product description and screenshots clearly reflect what is being offered and for many the price point represents value and they are content with their purchase.

  20. P3d 4.5 and MSFS. The first for planes and my Orbx add on's. The second for the realism of the world but lack of my favorite planes yet.

  23. So todays flight was a scheduled run with Germanwings, flying from our base at EDDK down to LOWW. This is in XP11 so I can only post the end of a lovely flight as LOWW is GAYA, airplane is JARS A320 and weather is default injected by ASXP....all went well. great landing and my TCA Airbus Quadrant captains edition is now working perfectly in this sim....just bought their A340 so hopefully get out in that soon....

  37. I just upgraded from FSX to P3D v. 5. I also just got a new Jetline computer to run it. I'll be adding additional monitors to my cockpit and will use my old Jetline computer as the client in a network. I'm happy with the performance of P3D on the new computer with all of the Orbx scenery. With FSX I'd run into memory issues around LAX. Now I don't have these problems, so I can do the "I-Ratings" on PilotEdge Ken

  38. I mainly use MSFS with a side pf P3Dv5.3. I enjoy both of those sims. The overall scenery and weather depiction in MSFS is the major draw for me with that sim. In P3Dv5.3, the major draw is the amount of airports and aircraft that I already owned before MSFS came out that I still love (mainly A2A aircraft) and so many of the smaller GA Orbx airfields. BOTH sims are running SUPER smooth on my system, and I can ratchet up the settings in BOTH sims and still have smooth, enjoyable flights without issue. Landon

  39. I was surprised that AmSim never replied to the support ticket which I raised with them. That says a lot to me. Orbx on the other hand were very good with their replies and their help. Now that people using MSFS 2020 are used to the quality levels of airports such as the newer ones from Orbx, then I guess a lot of people will be surprised and also very disappointed with the AmSim LPMA add-on. It is just not in the same league as other MSFS 2020 airport add-ons. Lots of information and photos on the internet but it appears that AmSim ignored a lot of the information out there. There are even some freeware add-ons (not for LPMA) which are streets ahead of this add-on from AmSim. This is one product that I hope gets pulled from the Orbx direct marketplace soon. Jerry
