  8. Another nice XP freeware - this one the Nord 1011 (tricycle gear version of the Bf108) first XP effort of 'Restauravia' of FSX fame. Dunno - there's just something about a taildragger - why change? This French model has a 'Renault' engine. In the air, very similar to the 'Taifun'. The canopy on the Bf108 had more glass and was a lot sexier. Full flaps and idle brings you down like a rock - judicious use of power allows control of that but keep it pointed downhill.

  9. Goodluck with that, I think ORBX are pretty generous with the various discounts they give through the year.

  16. Well I have it on good authority that the original flag was centred as required however a fierce storm ripped it off the flagpole and sent it flying over Mont Blanc (yes really, it was a big storm) and after several weeks a search team of valiant French paratroopers found the flag and brought it back to the airport, only to find that a section of one edge had been ripped off. Rather than spend valuable euros on a new flag, it was decided to give it to Mme Thibault, the local seamstress who volunteered to sew it back on to the remnant piece that was flapping uselessly on the now bare pole. Try as she might she couldn't make up for the damage that had been done to the material when the storm so cruelly tore the flag from its rightful position, and the result was a flag upon which the cross was no longer centred, and as a result fooled some gullible people into believing it was actually a Danish flag that had been put there by mistake. Incredible story I know but as they say, truth is stranger than fiction, you just need to work out what is truth and what is fiction.

  18. Folks, my settings are Brightness 0.6, Bloom 0.8, Saturation 0.9 It's how I like it. I take any of those numbers up much more and it just feels washed out to me. My monitor is not particularly bright, but that setup works for me.

  19. Thanks for pointing this out guys. It's the kind of mistake where we feel that something is wrong but we aren't able to figure out where and what. It's just a detail, but not tolerable - especially in this place - and will be fixed, of course.

  20. Hi Nick Just to confirm, installed into Prepar3D v4 folder with ORBX Central, Verified files with FTX central and everything is good in the world!! You're a star! Cheers, Clive.

  23. I broke mine trying to fix yours but have found a quick fix. Either uninstall with Orbx Central and reinstall with FTX Central or install to the P3D folder with Orbx Central and then verify files with FTX Central. You can find FTX Central here. https://orbxdirect.com/ftxcentral

  24. Thanks JMB, glad you liked it. Cheers Wain, but to be honest, a certain amount of skew was needed (landing in one of those is a random act for me) Cheers John, and it does look nice, doesn't it? Cheers Pat, not sure what you mean about the flags other than they weren't waving about much Thanks Iain, and I hope all's well with you now Thanks Jack, and have you considered taking those raybans off when you come back in from your hikes? Cheers Rodger, and I know it sounds weird but I was quite moved when I first saw this site in Jack's original post. I guess a bunch of pixels on a screen are no less powerful than a photograph though, and I've certainly been affected by many of those over the years. Thanks, 3Js, and I wonder if I can get some commission for that <grin> Cheers Nathan, it's got me thinking I might go and take a look to see what else of a similar nature I might find, maybe some of the WWI memorials for instance.

  25. Hello Clive, "no one else" does not now include me. Here is what should be a temporary fix for you. I have assumed that you have kept the installation inside the P3D v4 folder. Unzip the attached file and copy the whole ORBX folder into your P3D v4 folder. It should replace the missing files for you. If the installation was in an Orbx Central Library, then the ORBX folder could be copied into the EU Scotland folder in that. Do let me know if it works. @caveney747 ORBX.zip

  26. Hello. Conclusion: Orbx Central is not installing the full product. Evidence: EU Scotland as installed into an Orbx Library by Orbx Central. EU Scotland as installed into the Prepar3D Folder by Orbx Central. EU Scotland files as installed by FTX Central restored from the backup. Further evidence: I have brought this to the attention of the Orbx Central team.

  27. Welcome to the French Alps! We're absolutely thrilled to announce a new airport on short finals from Orbx's in-house partner studio Gaya Simulations, also responsible for EGNX East Midlands Airport and more titles coming soon. Courchevel Altiport is an airport located at an altitude of 2007 metres in the middle of the slopes of the Courchevel ski station. On a larger scale, the airport is located in the middle of Les Trois vallées ski area, which has nearly 600 kilometres of ski slopes in the Savoie region in France. Its runway is 537 metres long and 40 metres wide, its inclination is the steepest of the world (up to 18.66%) for an international airport. It is also the only one to be cleared of snow all year long. An aircraft with a maximum capacity of nearly 50 passengers can land in Courchevel altiport. The parking capacity is 10 planes for 20 helicopters. The term "Altiport" was created specifically for this platform the 31st of January 1961 after the first inaugural flight because it was the first altiport ever built for commercial use. During the winter season, the altiport offers a unique know-how and service for the total management of the aircraft and the transfer of customers and users who land on the structure. It is the only airport platform that allows to enjoy the ski slopes directly after landing. It is also a few minutes from the most prestigious resort hotels. The altiport offers two free major air show in the region, one at the end of July and the other one at the end of March. The meeting is called FLY COURCHEVEL and brings t manufacturers, flight training schools, federations, pilots and above all aviation enthusiasts. This superb recreation of this characterful airport has full PBR support, great lighting effects on the runway and aprons and is optimised for performance. COVERAGE AT A GLANCE AIRPORT - Ultra-accurate and hand-sculpted mesh up to 0.5m (!) for the whole airport and the scenery coverage - Hand made Ultra HD textures for the airport area and 0.5m/pix for the entire satellite image coverage - Airport developed with close connection with the official Courchevel airport personnel with an outstanding level of detail and accuracy - Accurately positioned fences, terraces, vegetation, vehicles and much more - High quality textures (4k) for the entire airport building. - Accurate tunnel below the runway with custom animated vehicles driving through it , based on native X-Plane 11 mesh work. - Model and accurate placement of the full town of Courchevel which include dozens of POIs all around the mini region and the approach. - Many custom animated cars make it a living scenery include animated clock on the front of the main hangar of the airport - Ultra high quality and accurate PBR runway textures. - Very realistic and dynamic lights in the airport and over the towns in the region. - Custom French Alps autogen buildings populated the villages and towns in the region. - Accurate static aircraft - Well optimized scenery with great performance SURROUNDS - Many custom modeled POI buildings in the airport precinct - Beautifull atmospheric villages, ski resorts and crystal blue lakes We are thrilled to begin our first foray into the French Alps and you won't be disappointed in this incredible destination!

  29. Shots taken while zipping up and down the shoreline in ORBX's Pacific Northwest. Taken while my Granddaughter took the joystick, I broke 3 metacarpals the Scaphoid and a Carpus in my right hand. It got jammed under one of my boat batteries that weights 160lbs for our friends that use the metric system that's about 71kgs.

  35. Thanks Nick, appreciate the input. n your first shot, the "black" texture has night lighting in it, so it is a night texture showing during the day Not sure I understand what you mean by this. How can I fix it? In your second and third shots, the black is too far away to be sure but it looks more like black water, as does your fourth shot. f so, that is more likely to be the Vector or region frozen water in winter setting. The season was Spring, so no frozen water, and Vector ? The slow loading textures I have and still am experiencing, although nowhere nearly as much as I used to since upgrading my CPU. That I can live with if its a P3D problem. John Dow mentioned adjusting the sliders, but I haven't been able to find them in P3D can you help? Thanks Don

  38. I am happy to report not only successful Oregon and Washington installations, but I was actually able to get them to install using the Orbx Central standard installer, not manual installation. The key was I had to install the C++ Run Time files not only for 2013, but also for 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2017, being sure to reboot after each install. After installing all of those, Oregon HD installed just fine, followed by Washington HD. To follow it up I have successfully installed Orcas Island on the first attempt, so hopefully everything will behave itself now going forward. Thank you to every one that had a hand in getting this working properly!!
