  2. Some of you might have noticed that I changed my avatar from Santa to a set of Combat Aircrew Wings. I was awarded those wings in 1956 while flying with VS-36 out of Norfolk, VA after over 200 hours and 2 cruises on the Valley Forge. (CVA-45) I know that this might be considered a brag by some but damn I was so proud when the skipper pined them on me. Dale

  3. Even though our police carry guns, as can our citizens by the way, most places in the U.S. are actually very safe and, believe it or not, quite civilized. Dave

  4. New update for KSAN is available via FTXC3. Main changes are a new AFCAD for gate assignments, extra boats in and Control Panel changes. Matteo will continue on other enhancements but felt it important to get the AFCAD changes out quickly.

  5. The fantastic CaptainSim B-52 Stratofortress (Barksdale AFB) landing at Eglin AFB, FLA (KVPS). The plane is 80% compatible; DON'T open the radar, otherwise the simulator CTD. Some trouble starting from C&D. But for the rest, it flies properly. The FTX Full Monty, ASN/REX actual Weather/Time, PTA. P3D v3.4.22.

Cheers John

  8. Not a good story to remember. But remembering keeps the beloved ones alive. And great screenies to remember, in any case.

  9. I wait and see what the developer is going to do in a service pact. My whole thing with this is I buy ORBX products for the immersion and look. I like the Thomas Kinkade feel to there products with all the lights, roads and things. But when they take those away it seems there going down the wrong path. I can see the Tubers liking it but for the low and slow crowd its a miss in my opinion.

  13. Yes, I see that too. I don't think there is a huge risk, I have clicked past the warning and my PC is still running. I think there is a fault on the customer product database side, it says expired certificate, but until they return from their break, on 14th, perhaps it might be better to stay away. As for FSS licence transfers, at the moment we can still see the FTX database but I don't think customers can transfer. Obviously we are no longer tied to the FSS, so what we can do about it is limited but we have sent a message notifying them of the fault. Hopefully it will be fixed when they return the day after tomorrow.

  14. A sad story with some wonderful caps. Finished off with a great video of the area. Would have to be the roughest strip I have seen and I would not be keen to meet an active Tony.

  22. Wonderful shots. VFA-2 or in this picture with the Tomcat VF-2 was my first command in the Navy. I got there after the Tomcats when we had Super Hornets. Here are a couple of my favorites that I took while in VFA-2 Bounty Hunters

  25. Yeah, it's creepy actually. I land and there's nothing, not one plane unless there's static planes like at KSAN or LOWI. Thanks Johnny, that's what I needed to hear. Hi Stew, I had the old UT2 installed per Elaine (Poppet's) instructions but I uninstalled it, took up too much VAS. Not officially, funny how more and more companies are doing this, selling something still in beta, or alpha! I think I can get the 40% as I have the original. I used to love and sit and just watch the AI traffic all day.

  26. Thanks Martyn. Yes, it's a good feeling when it al comes together but sometimes it doesn't, like not catching the glideslope below when you're supposed, like today with me for instance. I need to do that too, I've been flying to and from most of my Orbx airports but I need to really look at them deeper. Sounds like a real bargain TTM. Almost free. Thanks Mike. Autoland did it. But today it didn't and I had to hand land it. Not too bad as I was already set up. Thanks John! She's a beauty but you have to think a few steps ahead to fly her correctly. Thanks OnD! I like that one too, it took a little while to get that camera just right. Thanks Adam, I'll try but it ain't easy.

  32. Had the joy of purchasing a sale priced, ( $6.83), Flysimware Old School C180 today, threw in the WeFly mini AP/GPS & went out & did ILS into KSAN. Granted the FSW 180 is a bit rough on the inside, but all the instruments & switches I needed for ILS were there & it flew nicely down to the deck without intervention. Not bad for $6.83 TTM

  33. I don't suppose the airline has a policy of dragging its paying customers back out down the aisle after allowing them to board. Overbooking does seem to be a situation that is all too common, even here in Great Britain and presumably they would rather leave passengers behind than run the risk of empty seats. The mistake seems to have been not to bribe four passengers to take a later flight before they boarded. Then it was massively compounded by the total mishandling of the situation of the airlines own making. Then it was massively compounded again by the man in charge saying it was the passenger's fault. I see he has now changed his mind. Perhaps there is also room for an airline manager and airline security staff simulator where these mistakes can be made without the unfortunate consequences. It could be called AMASS

  34. Well flown Jack, some impressive caps of a great landing. You know the simple airliners I fly, well I get a kick when an ILS landing goes to plan as well as a huge laugh when the plane sails straight over the airport when I have stuffed things up. Good luck with your learning. I started flying at every ORBX airport a few weeks ago taking a good look at as much as I can at each location. I am currently at KBLU, so a still have a lot to visit! BTW how come you were not flying in a United 744

  37. First post, and I hate it has to be this way. While I understand the frustration from a cost standpoint, and I personally have no issue with the solution you are implementing, I find the wording of the notice and the e-mail sent to be profoundly unprofessional. A simple explanation of having to set restrictions temporarily in order to handle heavy server loads would be sufficient as opposed to pointing fingers at your users, telling them what they should or shouldn't do with the way they do installations, etc. I've never seen a company send a message like that to its users before. Pretty shocking.

  38. Is this a joke, or are you really that out of touch with reality? The tone of this message as a whole is so condescending its embarrassing.

  39. I am glad I got all my downloads in before this rediculous decision was made. I just rebuilt by OS and reinstalled everything from scratch. Because I was essentially forced to download all my purchases through the Orbx servers due to the Flight Sim Store activation permissions being removed ( a condition caused by Orbx) , I find this blaming of your customers causing your data woes to be rediculous. I keep a local copy of all my purchase downloads on a fileserver hard drive. They wereall completely useless to me without the Flight Sim Store activation process. They are all going to be deleted now as the next time I rebuild my system it will be by disk imaging. A little planning and some more announcements with a grace period for downloading and activating product from the Flight sim store would have likely avoided this panic downloading. I have many Orbx products including every region except the newest Northern Germany region. if I were limited to one download per day it would have taken me over a month given these new rules. think about that. When people rebuild their systems due to perfomance issues, they dont want to take a month to do it. Perhaps I should have not purchased so many Orbx products.
