  2. Hello everyone, I believe there is genuine confusion regarding the FSS License Transfer process. Please read carefully below so you understand the process clearly. 1. It is NOT a migration. There are no files to be downloaded, copied or converted. It has nothing to do with the FTX Central V2 migration to unified lclookup launched back in June 2016 - that is a completely separate process not related to the FSS license transfer 2. It is a DIGITAL transfer of your Orbx product sales records from the FSS store database to the OrbxDirect store database. Once you complete the opt-in process on the FSS website, the transfer is almost INSTANT. Compare it to moving your bank balance from one bank to another to a new account. 3. It is NOT a complete re-download of all your Orbx products from OrbxDirect servers This is where many people are getting confused. If you choose to transfer your FSS licenses ~and~ you have all the Orbx products installed and working right now in the sim - there is NOTHING TO DO. You don't need to download anything at all. Just relax and keeping using them as you were before We have seen an enormous amount of download traffic from our servers for products which have not been purchased in November. This indicates that people are just downloading all their Orbx products for no valid reason, other than to have backups. Whilst this is something that is possible to do, it's adding a huge strain on our server infrastructure for no good reason, and actually affecting the download performance for people who are buying new products. Yes - you can download any and all products whenever you like Yes - you can do this anytime No - it is NOT necessary at this time, nor part of your license transfer process. Your licenses are kept safe in our Orbx cloud forever and you can access your products at any time you need them. We're just asking you to be considerate of your fellow customers and during this launch phase of our store to only download products if doing a reinstall or purchasing new products. Thanks!

  3. Hi all. We haven't shared much lighthearted levity since the old Pilots' Lounge merged with the General Discussion Forum. I kind of miss that, so I am submitting this. If the moderators don't want this sort of thing, please delete with no hard feelings on my part. Fellow Forum reader, during your many years of faithfully enjoying ORBX flying, what was the funniest moment you experienced? Mine was in the early days when I had stalled the plane again and was going down with engines blazing. I had headphones on and was totally immersed in the impending tragedy. My wife came running into the room and scared me half to death by jerking off my headphones. "Are you alright!? Are you okay!?" Turns out I was rather loudly saying "Oh, sh*t! Oh, sh*t" as the ground approached. I've toned down since. How about you? Got a good story?

  4. Ran into some pretty rough stuff around Mt. Ranier coming from DeVere (2W1) headed to Swanson (2W3), but it made for some decent photo ops so it was worth it! Thanks for looking!

  6. Testing the compability of the new Godzone Dunedin departing on a flight from Queenstown Just a quick note - the surrounding landscape around Queenstown that you can see here is also by Godzone In this pic you can just about make out where Godzone ends, and Orbx NZ SI begins - but you have to really look hard.. (hint: it's to the utmost right of the pic) Coming up to Godzone Dunedin - which is not only the airport. Once again the transition is almost seamless The surf is about the only giveaway where one scenery ends and the other begins Once again more or less cropped DX10s Cheers Mallard

  9. In my early ORBX days I was seriously consider taking up RL flying. I had even gone as far as taking a trial flight but the cost of it all was the biggest drawback. We had talked a lot about it at home and the wife was very keen for me to go for it. I was flying Ant's Tecnam Eaglet on the sim one evening when I passed the remark of "bugger it." The wife asked what was wrong, to which I replied "pressed the wrong switch." Not many switches and buttons in a Tecnam cockpit to get wrong! Her answer to that was " I don't think I will be flying with you if you get your license!" Unfortunately the cost of it all was going to be too much so the idea was shelved. Thanks Rodger as I too miss the banter of the Pilots Lounge.

  10. LOL! Besides finding a few planes under a thick layer of dust, I also discovered that I have St. Marten and Key West V2. Alongside Puerto Plata in the Dom Rep. (all three never landed at) I was pretty much thinking of taking more or less the same route... Perhaps I'll do it in reverse order? But after seeing these fine pics I'll definitely have to do it Cheers Mallard

  12. Thank you for checking in RJ! Thanks Voyager - appreciate your time! Many thanks for looking at this mishap of mine KDK! I'm a little ashamed that I didn't spot the cause of this failure as I did not just pretend of tune for it - at least the tanks were half-full at that point... Thanks Jack! Some change to the warm weather you guys normally get down in GA And thanks also to you Iain! Diavik looks like an isle in the sky if the waters around it aren't frozen

  14. Thank you, @Mark Abdey, @Jack Sawyer and @Voyager ! Indeed I was surprised to spot waves and no ship. So I went down to the Fehmarnsund... Good to read I was able to add some knowledge to the community. A good excuse for our wifes who might ask why we spend so much time here... We´ll see... unfortunately we only have a "poll" function here. I wonder if he added that object to the scenery himself. Or if he has friends at orbx... Overall the character of the country & cities is transported well. Even if we locals find gaps...

  16. Jack Black soot streak RHS viewed from right rear outside, & a thin smoke trail now & then seem to be standard. No worries. I'm waiting for someone to run pics of the new Alabeo C441. Looks pretty good. TTM

  17. Yes. I looked at my ipad weather Forecast app, "Storm", & found some snow up there. Then set a flight path accordingly to fly through it. I find AS16 is pretty accurate in portraying real world weather. TTM

  20. Yeah, I had already noticed that most airfields in that area are privately owned. But that only sheds light on who built them - not why, and why there are so many in that particular area. Perhaps it was a case of "keeping up with the neighbours" that got a bit out of hand - "Do you know Dear, the Blakesleys next door have had their airfield and aeroplane for over a year now, and we still haven't got any. Don't you think it's time we did something about it? I would particularly prefer a light blue aeroplane - it would go well with the curtains."

  29. Thanks Martyn, you gave me a good laugh! Russia's answer to the Harrier! Yeah, I have the L-39 but I learned it quickly, the An-2 seems to be a very busy cockpit. But I like it! Must have been something to drive a Belarus tractor though, cool! And I'm really glad to hear you have it worked out Martyn, I hope you get some great flights in now that you're up to speed or close to it. Small world! Wish I could have seen you there. We could have had a shot of Russian vodka I had stashed in my plane!

  31. It's a bee, it's bee, it's a beeautiful set of caps Jack, a truly wonderful flight. Does not need much of a runway does it, Russia's answer to the Harrier? Looking at some RL photos of the plane there is quite a big sooty streak along the side so I don't think you put it there by incorrect flying. I drove a Belarus tractor years ago and the dials were very confusing all being in Cyrillic and reminds me of the L-39 having k/mh instead of knots! Oh, and I told you Jack about FSX crashing the other day, well since then it has behave perfectly and at last I am actually getting the sort of performance I would expect from my set up.

  32. Jack Your finger got stuck on the "V" button & you couldn't release it?? Nice set. Friday Harbor does have a bit of a rep. for using fps, but perhaps all sliders to the right is being optimistic? Suggest you try pulling them back a bit if your going into KFHR & see what happens. Visually it may not be too much different & the OOM's may go away. BTW, where did you get the AN-2 repaint? I like the wood grain interior. & I see you smoked discretely so you must have sorted the mixture & cowl flaps. TTM

  35. One more thing I forgot to mention, just a bit of trivia: in Sept. 1997 a Cathay Pacific 747-400 landed and later of course took also off from the airport of Paderborn in Germany. At that time Paderborn had a runway length of 2180 m

  36. I once made the mistake of using another vendor instead of FSS and quickly regretted it... I had no problems with anything from FSS in all the years I used them, and they will continue be my 'go to' FS shop. The whole change to the new system was smooth, quick and painless, and is a testament to the professionalism of all those involved.

  40. Hmmm, on climbing out of Southampton a few days ago (not the REAL Southampton I hasten to add), I too noticed a 'bleached out' area. Thinking it might have been a small section of landclass missed by the migration process, I ventured a closer look. It was Bodmin moor, so I guess most of the UKs National Parks have been given the same treatment? It looked to me like a small area of photoscenery, but not very high resolution?. I recall some freeware airfields designed to blend with FSX default scenery looking similarly insipid when placed over FTX Global/England. I didn't look carefully enough to determine that it WAS photoreal, but the colouration clash is what made me wonder if it was. Anyway, I do agree that the resultant update is a little too visually jarring, in the Autumn at least.
