  1. Will keep it short. This was my second year in a row attending the event and was very happy to see the growth in both sponsor and attendees. It was great to get a chance to have a face to face hello with a lot of developers new to this years show. In addition to the Orbx team, I got a chance to talk with Dan Church, developer of Fly Inside and congratulate him on his work and how thankful I was of what he is doing for VR in FS. Also the CEO of LiveATC, a free service I use to monitor Nantucket Tower while I fly drones in their airspace, was there and he showed me some setting to use to reduce the 15second delay down to like 2 second or so. There was also Keith of Pilots Edge who participated in a discussion panel and was very well spoken and made for a great public speaker. Frooglesim did another great job in opening up the event and showing some new software that is out or soon to be released. I was very impressed to find that a developer for addons of KDEN, KPHX and KSFO etc was a one man show. All big airports and all done by one guy. Many 4K displays were being used over last years and man did soo many showings look great...which brings me back to Orbx and their booth. ENNK is just as amazing as I had hoped it would of been and even better. Its hard to say what would of been keeping it delayed for released so whatever those items are, its small and I look forward to its release in the near future. I mean its been in development for some years now so the near future to me looks like we could be enjoying this anywhere from a few weeks from now to by year ends. Misha announced his KSBA and in an overhead shot (top down screenshot) someone thought it was a google map picture it looked that good! I was very happy to hear he was doing another field liken to his KSTS which is my go to base in the NCA area as centrally located it is. Alex was proudly demoing Bar Harbor and a great team representative of Orbx for Q&A's and his presentation with Misha in the meeting room during a scenery discussion. Had to shake Eds hand and thank him for all his hard work in these last few years in creating all the installers for all the various P3D platforms. Scott Armstong who developed one of my favorites in the PNW was there showing off the coming HD buildings of auto gen. One of the best things I can say about having the Orbx Team there was hearing JV say that Orbx will be returning next year and with what should be a bigger team force! That right there speaks volumes in where this show is headed for us simmers who like to attend events like these. I did get to meet one Orbx forum member and was lucky enough to go to the show with Bill Womack (scenery developer of S45, 7S3 and Cushman Meadows). He has since left Orbx but is a very established name in the addon scenery area and a great guy to hang out with as I got to host his visit back here in Nantucket on Monday after the show and let him enjoy my Oculus Rift setup which sold him on it. Oculus Rift and VR...funny stuff. It seems when you see it, you get it. At least with the CV1. This was true by hearing an airplane developer rave about it in one of the discussions and it was crazy to me that there was this lack of A2A to want to see their planes in it at the show. To me it would be like going from the 2D panels days to when we got v/c's. It was still on a flat screen in 2D but it was all modeled in 3D and look what won there...v/c and its hard to find developers releasing a main 2D panel anymore. All in all a great show and looking forward to returning next year and hopefully seeing more of you guys there as well. Nathan Palmer Nantucket

  2. Please could ORBX put a sticky on the top of this thread that is updated daily as to the progress in resolving this issue which is affecting lots of people? I feel like we're being mushroomed here...

  3. I've never had anything but great service from FSS. It's not that they don't "give a rat's ass"; it's that it happens to so few people that it is very difficult to diagnose and fix.

  4. I'm as horrified as everyone else by this capitalistic move of Orbx in pursuit of the almighty dollar as others so eloquently put it! Orbx has done nothing but cause me misery ever since I first discovered them, from ramming high quality scenery down my throat to forcing free updates on me when I changed Sims. Twice! If they don't start putting humanity and their customers first and move exclusively to a mail order catalog base where they can spread their (my) wealth to hundreds more delivery drivers, postal workers, and others I will simply take my business elsewhere! I'm sick and tired of companies trying to streamline their processes just so I can buy more for less.

  5. I finally got everything set up on my new computer system and I'm back flying after a 5 year hiatus. I was really a lightweight when it came to flightsim before. This is actually my first VOR to VOR flight. I wanted my inauguration flight to be back to my birthplace. I flew from Chicago Midway to the Quad Cities Intl Airport. This is the Illinois River during Summer I'm flying the A2A C172, and my very first time using Prepar3D. I know I need to do more with settings. Nothing too exciting but I just wanted my first flight to be the place I was born.

  6. Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, surely I can 't look that old. Well . . . you 'll love this one. My name is Alice, and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his DDS diploma on the wall, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then? Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park High School. "Yes. Yes, I did. I'm a Mustang," He gleamed with pride. "When did you graduate?” I asked. He answered, “In 1967.. why do you ask?" “You were in my class!” I exclaimed. He looked at me closely. Then, that ugly, old, bald, wrinkled faced, fat-assed, gray-haired, decrepit son-of-a-bitch asked me, “What did you teach???" Noel

  8. Hi all, I've been experiencing a lot of stutters and FSX crashing on long flights. My equipment is OK but older and slower so I accepted what was happening and enjoyed what I could have, its still great. I installed the latest library with the new FTX Central and my next flight was 90 minutes without interruptions or stutters. That was double plus fun. I also had a shorter loading time. I hope everyone has the same outcome. Good flights, Cal

  16. Old Irish turf-laying joke A couple more snaps from my search to find the most natural looking settings in P3D (using the PTA tool): Once again - credit to the ORBX/NZNI scenery makers for making this so easy! I think I may just stop tweaking now and do some *flying* (sound FX of the PMDG 737 being started up)! Adam.

  17. A Tu-95, out of Archangel, up around Murmansk, Norway etc and off to Iceland via Jan Mayen. Not a terribly cohesive trip, reset and changed season/time a couple of times but still fun This is coming out from Norway (I wandered off course a bit) over Iceland now Lining up for Keflavik Bit like flying the QE2, this. Not saying she's slow to turn or anything (much) And finally, parked up.

  20. Excellent point Michael. I can't tell you how many times I've visited my account at FSS to re-download files, whether it was due to an itchy trigger finger on the delete button or the numerous revisions that ORBX released for content I had access to. granted, connecting to my account and sifting through pages of purchases was a bit slow, but after finding what I needed, and using a proper download application, I could recuperate my content pretty easily. On my end, I never had an issue with a single purchase with FSS, whether it be through a Paypal or credit transaction, which was good.

  25. Check out JV's latest post. He seems to have pinpointed the possible problem with the migration/lclookup. It is as I suspected.

  26. Thanks Stew. Gosh, I'm anxious, I already suffer from extremely severe panic attacks in real life and now that I made that angry sounding post I'm worried I'll get banned or something despite an apology. Never post while under the influence of Vicodin after knee surgery. I'll have to wait I guess. As far as what you said about it being a lclookup issue, I don't know what those terms mean. I just fly and let Orbx do the installing. I don't know the difference between a migrate and a lclookup to save my life. Wish I knew more but this tired old dog just can't grasp it. The young guys can do it effortlessly.

  27. I will check YSSY sometime today, Jack. I have FSDT's (I think it is) addon of YSSY, so I don't know if I'll see the same thing as you, though.

  28. I don't think it has anything to do with the new Central, but with the new lclookup system. Certain of the migrations did not "migrate" correctly. Witness the way NZ and AU fixes were applied to solve the terrain issues there.

  31. The distance between each Snowbird jet in many of the formations is about 1.2 metres (4 feet). When flying at speeds of 600 km/hr a large amount of skill is required by the pilot to maintain this distance throughout the performance

  32. I noticed Misha's involvement in a number of products and I'm excited for this young man, but I certainly wouldn't mind finding out what's happening with my beloved KHAF which was promised back in 2014. I can understand shifting priorities, but an explanation as to why would certainly be welcome. Garland

  33. I like the way FTX central has been improving and this seems like the next logical step. FSS might take a hit but, OTOH, since I started using it for ORBX products (and I had never heard of it before that) it is now my first port of call for any FS product. If they stock it I will buy it there and only go elsewhere if they don't have it. So if nothing else they will have gained customers like me who will buy non-ORBX products from them in the future. I must say I have had nothing but a great experience from them. My (only slight) concern is about flexibility. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a dedicated SSD for flight sim and I also have a dedicated HDD for all my downloads (of any products, not just ORBX or FlightSim). If they are able to set up the new version of Central so that it can work for my type of set-up then it will be perfect. If not, there is always the option of downloading the zip file which I have to do now anyway. And as for an "Install all" option - dream of dreams!!! Well done ORBX!

  34. Don't use RSP - go for the P3D Tweak Assistant (PTA) instead. Not only does it have many more features, it's fully compatible with P3Dv3.3.5: http://www.avsim.com/topic/490178-prepar3d-tweak-assistant-pta-screenshots-presets/ http://www.avsim.com/topic/489018-prepar3d-tweak-assistant-pta/ Adam.

  37. I'm really looking forward to new ORBX releases, including the very impressive looking Narvik but my wallet is currently breathing a small sigh or relief. I don't know about anyone else but whenever ORBX releases something new I always ask myself "Do I really need it?" The answer is mostly "no" of course but I will probably get it anyway because they always look so good.

  38. These guys are really Great! A co-worker and Friend of mine (Industrial Electrician) used to fly with the Snowbirds (Right seat) and said it was one of the coolest experiences of his life, that and flying a Twinotter for the Canadian Forces all around the Arctic. Glad to see the boys going back to Oshkosh, I've got to make it down to that show one of these days. Great Post!

  40. You want to talk about good customer service? Ok, how's this: - Me: Hey FSS, you wrapper freezes on me when I want to install my legally purchased ORBX stuff for about 2-3 hours before continuing, so if I want to install something to try it out I really can't, I just have leave it there and try to enjoy it some other day when I have time - FSS: oh yeah, we know about this issue, but it only affects a few configurations, you just have tomwait... (Translation: since it only affects a few people we basically don't give a rat's ass...) yeah.. Not gonna be sad to see that go away...
