  1. Russ did an amazing job on this scenery. Lots of details in a nice size coverage area and on my computer its very very smooth. Sadly though, many of the static planes/helos and various objects (not buildings or structures) suffer from the black square shadow in DX10. FSConverterX can not fix this. Hopefully Steves new addon for DX10 users gets released soon and does fix this or the good folks at Orbx or Russ can makes the needed fixes like what Vlad did for us DX10 users at his CEN4 and CEJ4 airports that had the same issues. The static aircraft can be turned off in the CP but there are still many objects like tugs, trucks, pallets etc that suffer from this issue left and with no static a\c the place looks rather dead on the land side, The seaplanes dont have this issue and dont get turned off when you disable static ac in the CP or at least not most of them. As a DX10 user I know the deal with coders and DX10 and am not asking for these items to be addressed or should be fixed by Russ or Orbx but just wanted to mention it to other DX10 users as to what to expect. If by chance Russ or Orbx does update the files to fix these issues all DX10 users would be very grateful but its not expected by me so please dont read this post as such.

  2. After all is said and paid for it is still a Video Game. The following are my own statements and opinions, and they are like sphincter's, everybody has one. I very well know and can understand the concept of the majority/ minority in most of our Democratic societies. Sometimes it gets really monotonous to read the same arguments/discussions over and over again, and if I say my opinion about it I get shouted down. I am not going to bash anyone here personally, it is pointless and gets nowhere fast, except in trouble. What does gall me are the comments about one or more products in the general. The loud complaint is made, but it is resolved more often than not on the complainers own as the products posted instructions were not followed. It is the "no one told me about that" routine "so I am not responsible for my actions". The same comments and complaints are posted time and time again. Yes there are legitimate complaints, I know as I have them also. I try to figure out on my own where I screwed up. I look in the forums for a "fix" first. Reading these forums, I find them full of information, some good and some not so good. I have garnered a lot of useful information from them. I have bought all the items ORBX puts out. I buy them without question as they, in my opinion, they are the best for the Flight Sim hobby. They make my virtual world so much nicer to "fly" and be in. I have been purchasing and using them since the first BLUE,GOLD, GREEN and the prepay RED for AUS was published. FTXGlobal is the Cat's meow for FSX, in my opinion. A few of the ORBX airports, are not working to my expectations with my system and I don't use them anymore. I just acknowledge it, to myself, and move on. I use FSX and, yes, I use DX10 - when it works. When it doesn't work with a program I go back to DX9, without any complaints or comment. FSX is an old program, and many times it just won't do what we want it to with the newest equipment. I have tried all the tweaks to the FSX.CFG, but still have arrived at my own conclusion is that they just compound any problems. I just use the HIGHMEM=1 and the AUTOMATIONCORE.dll in the FSX root directory. I have upgraded my computer system several times to increase my Flight Simulation experience. I just bought a new computer 2 months ago, and still am paying for it. I use FSXGO to load up any FSX.CFG's I want to use; one for FSX on VATSIM as it doesn't need all the scenery to fly at FL350; one .CFG for DX10; one .CFG for DX9. They are easily opened and used via FSXGO. I "fly" only payware aircraft and I have many of them, more than I need I am sure. I have a lot of other company's payware scenery to use. My flight sim system uses 3 computers and 5 monitors. My frame rates are consistently in the 20's or more, with the graphics adjusted very high. I purchase the FAA DTPP on disc for my own Flight Sim use. I am not a real world pilot but do belong to a Virtual Airlines. I drop by this forum many times a day. I always look forward to the new releases postings. I use the flight plans which are posted. I try to use advice given by others, good or not so good. This has been a good forum with friendly people and it has been a pleasure to be a member. Thank You,

  4. Steve Parsons has been given a copy of PAJN to see what can be done. And yes, it is getting rather tiresome to hear the same old DX10 complaints over and over again. The best person in the FS community is developing a tool everyone knows about which solves 99% of all issues; surely you can acknowledge that and wait until his tool is released instead of berating every developer who develops fully compliant products for a DX9 platform?

  6. Thank you all very much for the comments and feedback! Well, Gerold - to be honest, the weather is the straight-out FSX real weather setting - nothing else. The cloud textures are taken from a very slightly tweaked "Wonderous" REX-set. I was quite amazed at what this combination displayed as a result... As for the ATC - I never use it since it only ever tells me to either go around or has me waiting for what feels like years on the tarmac. And I especially do not want that communications screen popping up at the most unconvenient times. So - yes, I am in for a surprise once and again (but the foggy conditions here made things even more difficult) Cheers Mallard

  7. No offence taken. It should be pointed out that Jandakot (alongside Coffs Harbour) out-dates every other ORBX airport currently available for purchase - I started the project in early 2007 so it's getting quite long in the tooth! At this stage I don't have any intentions to update or create a new version, but bear in mind that I did release a quite comprehensive update in 2011 which included a bunch of new content, added a bunch of the Flows and optimised a lot of the 3D work for better performance. If you haven't already, make sure you download a copy of Cunderdin and Busselton from our freeware section - again both are getting quite old (most of the original source 3D work dates back to 2004/2005!), but these will give you some decent options quite close to Perth. Cheers, Jarrad

  8. I own Jandakot and it's honestly not my favourite of the Orbx airports that I own. My favourite AU ones are Cessnock and Cairns; they're both beautiful, absolute classics, and the others that I have arent far behind. Unfortunately, I just don't feel Jandakot measures up to them. The buildings look good but the ground textures could be better. I'd also like to see improved runways rather than the FSX default ones that are there now. It's not my intention to cause any offence, it's just my honest opinion. I'm very happy with the overwhelming majority of my purchases, it's just Jandakot that has ever caused me any real sense of disappointment. I think a Jandakot V2 would be a great idea.

  11. What a fantastic job Russ ! It will be a pleasure to fly over this location. Any chance to have some season screens (fall/winter/sping/summer) before the release ?
